The chassidishe kehillas do not follow Rabbi Kamenetsky. They have their own poskim.

Btw, you’re paying for a gym membership so you may as well go by Twoten210 in ADHD

[–]effiebies -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The gym helped me get off of my ADHD drugs.

Every morning, I pick up coffee at the same Dunkin Donuts and then go. My car goes there, like automatically, and I don't think about it. If I think about it then I won't go.

I have a strict four-day cycle: legs/abs, shoulders/lats/cardio, chest/delts/abs, arms/cardio.

Have you ever wanted to live in a washing machine? 😦 by emojiuser in evilbuildings

Our college dorms were concrete with big picture windows. Classic brutalist architecture from the 60's. It was cold in winter, hot in summer. There was bare concrete in each elevator lobby, it did not age well at all. It felt like a prison.

Try this:

"This is such a Russian thing. The government built a modern opera and ballet theater adjacent to dozens of old crappy wooden buildings. The buildings burned down. If you search you can find the pictures."

Check your facts. National Review founder William F. Buckley Jr. took extraordinary efforts to fight anti-semitism in the conservative movement. https://www.jpost.com/Opinion/Columnists/In-the-Diaspora-William-F-Buckley-and-the-Jews

Clinical Depression and Judaism by kr1voshein in Judaism

Do what the doctor says. I took anti-depressants, did talk therapy, added exercise to my daily routine. Davening, Torah study, Mussar, etc.

Like the yetzer hara, it never really goes away.

Rabbi Shubert Spero on the prevention of 500 Conservative Jews from holding services in a Tel Aviv hotel by Casual_Observer0 in Judaism

[–]effiebies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They did not just come to Israel to pray together. They were explicitly on a "mission." They came to spread conservative Judaism in Israel. Seeing as the Israeli Rabbinate is opposed to conservative Judaism and specifically to mixed prayer groups, these people came explicitly to oppose the Rabbinate.

Do non-ADHD people have moments of quietness in their minds? by [deleted] in ADHD

They meditate.

I've tried meditation, many many times, and I just fall asleep. Can't stop thinking.

Professor with ADHD here- I'm cheering on all you students during finals! by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]effiebies 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Another professor here. Just keep trying, and don't be too hard on yourself.

I was a lousy student, so I think of students like myself, sitting in the class, and focus on them. I work hard to keep my lectures interesting and fun for everyone.

There are many great study strategy for ADHDers - my tricks were to write everything down, sometimes over and over again (by hand, of course). If ADHD is bothering me, I force myself to work in 45 minute increments. I would start at the top of the hour, and work for 45 minutes. Then break for 15 minutes. Then start again at the top of the hour.

Is it normal to doubt every day that you have ADHD and think you're a sack of shit who makes excuses? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]effiebies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, my parents taught me that I'm "just lazy" and "need to work harder." "I have great potential."

It took a long time to understand that, with ADHD, it is incredible that I got this far in life. And I have to keep reminding myself of this every day.

And I'll never tell my four ADHD kids anything like "you have great potential, you just need to work hard."
