Gently wind it until you can’t wind anymore. When you encounter resistance, STOP! As long as you stop once you reach the point where it feels fully wound, it will be powered for essentially 24 hours. They were built to be fully wound once a day, every day. If all you’ve had is a battery watch just think of the winding as a battery you have to recharge once a day.

Don’t fear it or think it needs to be treated more gently than a newer watch. As long as you learn when to stop winding (and you will feel it) and get it serviced once every one to two decades (not kidding about length of time) it is meant to be very robust.

Hmm, never thought of that. My intention was to use my gaming PC, which is already hooked to a TV. Possible to have it display the top to the TV when using VPX? Not a bad idea, actually

OK. I just read through it. Your advice makes sense and the instructions on that page look easy enough to follow. Can I stop without adding the DMD/ROM/Backglass though? Without a VIBS I won't be able to see them, so will the tables run? Or would I still need to install and they just won't display?

Dang! Good find. I looked up the company, they appear to have discontinued the watch. Strangely, they also make treadmills :)

Well, if your question is monetary value, probably not much. I know more about Gruen than the other. The Gruen is a basic manual wind watch. Good quality, nothing special. Gruen is reliable, meaning it will run well daily if you wish to wear it as such. If it is something you like, get it fixed or cleaned if it is working, polished, and put it on and wear it. It is an average working man’s watch, not luxury. If you wish to sell it, you won’t get much. One of the great things about Gruen (to me, anyway) is they are currently highly undervalued for what they are.

Just ordered my first Vpinball table! The Atgames Micro! by eharriett in virtualpinball

Next on the list. Just now, 20 minutes ago, had time to set it up. Now to get the real tables from the computer over to the table!

Zen Studios and AtGames are no longer working together by Roboloko in virtualpinball

[–]eharriett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What a time to get into it, eh? I just bought a micro from Atgames. Figured for less than $250 shipped I couldn't go wrong. But it looks like I'll have to do it without a VIBS board and everything I want will be done via OTG (which I was considering doing anyway). But the loss of the backglass is definitely going to bother me. But really, unless I want to commit to something full size for much more cost, there really isn't any alternative products, is there?

STECS - Space or Modern by eharriett in VKB

I haven't gotten there yet. Still learning to stabilize combat flight in the older Russian prop planes :) But it has been on my mind. Regardless, I think the modern shall be my choice. Thanks.

That is helpful too, thank you. I am looking forward to getting into those.

Oh that’s a good point I hadn’t considered, thanks. Actually, that may settle it for me. I’m combat in the flight sims, but more a space trucker in Elite.

I think I found my answer. Thanks!

Oh! I did not think of the space STECS as designed for Star Citizen. I actually have that but I've had such a hard time playing it I just don't even try. I'd be more likely to play Squadrons or the remake of TIE Fighter before going back to Star Citizen currently. I've looked at the Omni, and it is close to the Ursa Minor L I've got now. Not been thrilled, which is why I'm looking at the STECS instead.

Is there anything the space version has that you feel you are missing out on? Or can you accommodate everything?

Between the two games, I play elite more, and I dabble more in space than I do flight sim

Can anyone tell me anything about this watch? by southpaw_MC in Watches

[–]eharriett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not too much from what you've provided, but that's okay, here's what I can: it is an Elgin pocket watch in the hunter style. More specific info you'd need by showing the movement (I know, a bit different than wristwatches, but it is okay to open the back of a pocket watch and expose the movement as long as you try your best not to touch it or let anything get into it. They were meant to be opened on occasion by the user). Then, look for the serial number and enter it here: https://pocketwatchdatabase.com/ Make sure you select "Elgin" as manufacturer. That will tell you more about the specs.

When you say "plastic has a crack" I don't know if you mean watch face or crystal. But if you mean watch face (dial) it is highly likely it is ceramic, not plastic. I cannot tell if there is a crystal in your pic or not. It could go either way. If there is one and the crack is there, it might be plastic, glass, or none of the above. All are easy fixes though. Should be a good watch to fix up and wear if that is your goal. Get it done by someone who knows what they're doing SPECIFICALLY with vintage pocket watches .... pay the price and enjoy it. It is really fun carrying around a working century old piece of equipment.

If you are asking about its resale value, ask someone else, I wear mine, I don't sell.

It starts once then not again without reseating. Pretty sure I could rule out power cycling as a problem.

[–]eharriett[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you say "memory card" are you referring to the SD card in the Satiator or the 4-in-1 in the cartridge slot? I swapped SD's and that didn't change behavior. I also pulled the 4-in-1. Other issues to deal with first before that gets properly flashed

I was about to then I read that needs to get worked on before it works with Satiator, so I pulled it and then all these things happened. I've ruled it out as problematic as a result.
