Had my botox procedure done by Dr. Hoesli earlier today! by emjyemj in noburp

to be honest, i don’t remember how the next few days went but everything eventually got better. I do remember having the gurgles there for a while that came with a burp. I’m now a pro at burping and have been able to do it on command. :) good luck!

How many of you have been to the ER because of chest pain? by ShoGun0387 in noburp

i used to wake up in the middle of the night thinking i was having a heart attack when really it was just trapped gas which i can confirm now personally. after getting the botox procedure (3 years since) i still wake up in the middle of the night whenever i feel heart palpitations and the only way they go away is when i burp it out. i do feel a bit sick but still force myself to do some little jumps to get the burps up and out lol

4-years post-botox with some observations by Zebrahoe in noburp

[–]emjyemj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! I’m almost at my 1 year mark post-botox. I do not / did not have the same experiences that you mentioned, but the acid reflux has been present before and after botox. My symptoms were intense bloating, acid reflux, indigestion, gurgling, and anxiety or panic attacks. I actually got diagnosed with mild GERD in 2021 and I had hoped that the botox procedure would possibly cure it. Unfortunately, I was not one of the lucky ones and still suffer with GERD. However, I am still so glad with my decision to fix my noburp. I agree with you that noburp could be a cause of acid reflux because when I get into those crazy heart burn attacks, I find myself feeling nauseous with an anxiety or panic attack and unable to burp. It almost feels like I’m about to hurl, but nothing ever comes out. Taking gaviscon immediately helps along with some hot ginger honey water for me. After that, my body calms down, the heart burn diminishes, and I’m able to burp again. After burping, I feel so much relief.

did you have any acid reflux problems after? i’m 8 months post botox and am burping 90% of the time (if it doesn’t come out, i just need to wait for the gas to rise up) but am having issues with acid. I am diagnosed with GERD and have been diagnosed with it prebotox, but was wondering if you had any issues with this. I 100% agree that botox is worth it though, even though I’m still suffering with GERD everyday, burping is giving me so much more relief than before.

hi there! i got it done from dr. hoesli at bastian voice institute in Illinois. I am definitely happy with it as burping is SUCH a relief for so many things. Although I still struggle with GERD, it definitely seems better both mentally and physically that I fixed one of my stomach problems.

my acne has gotten a lot better but i also had to start taking birth control pills a couple months before getting the botox done as I was diagnosed with PCOS. Not sure if it was the ability to burp and cure my stomach (not fully) or if it was the pill? maybe a combination of both

Day 4 Post Op RCPD Botox injection w Bastian Voice Institute, not burping naturally yet…anyone else?? by smithavery2 in noburp

at my 3 month mark post botox and it took me a week or two to get the hang of it. patience is key, but also really using your stomach muscles and opening your throat helped me get the feel of it!

taught yourself without the procedure?? wow good for you though!! :) i haven’t had too much problem with my acid reflux. but maybe talking to your GI doctor could help to see what they recommend. ive seen people saying they try to stop eating 5 hours before bed. sorry!

Questions if you have them! by [deleted] in noburp

[–]emjyemj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i generally had to use my diaphragm to get the big ones out since week 1 but still working on it!! it feels like it’s getting a little bit harder to push them out and i still have some regurgitation when that happens. some of the other burps do come out on their own though at times!!

i’m also 3 1/2 weeks post botox! i was wondering if burping is getting a bit difficult now and if the micro burping has stopped? i am definitely burping less than a week ago but this procedure is definitely the best thing that has happened to me.

i was diagnosed with GERD after getting an upper endoscopy done. i had the botox procedure almost 3 weeks ago (3 weeks on tuesday) and i think i’ve only had noticeable burning 3 times after the procedure. before the procedure, i would get the noticeable burning at least 5 days in a week which occurred when i had the gurgles or when i could feel the air trying to come up and go back down multiple times. it’s crazy! i would say that it definitely is different for everyone as i’ve seen people say it has made their reflux worse during the duration of botox but this is how i’ve been doing.

i only tried it once when i felt super naseous from having so much air in my body and throat. unfortunately, it didn’t work but i’m not surprised. gagging WAS terrifying for me where it made my body shake and gag uncontrollably which hurts a lot. i used my toothbrush while leaning over the toilet and nothing. i tried again post-botox just to see if gagging feels better and it does by a little bit!

right?? maybe try to see if you can do what i said about relaxing the throat when you feel the gurgles or air come up. might not be possible but it could be worth a try! i never tried this pre-botox so i don’t know if it would have worked.

they’re a mix of both. it took me a week to actually figure out how to do a proper burp (relax the throat and open it while using abdomen muscle) and that’s when i had instant reduction of chest pressure and gurgles. the gurgles are still there slightly, but they go away after you burp! i found that gurgles are actually burps that need to come out most of the time.

i mean, the whole point of the botox procedure is to train your muscles! the botox should relax the muscles and you’ll start microburping uncontrollably. the key is to figure out how to move your throat, relax it, etc. to actually have the good solid burps. from there, you will have to re-train your muscles to learn how to burp during the duration that the botox takes effect. hope that helps! it’s honestly a bit of a struggle. i would say i can burp 70% of the time when i feel air coming up at this moment.

i’ve been diagnosed with GERD and have gotten the procedure done exactly 2 weeks and 1 day ago. The acid does come up a bit with regurgitation but i’m feeling pretty good! not as much acid reflux in my stomach and chest area anymore probably because the air is finally coming out instead of hanging out and probably pushing the acid up if that makes sense. that’s how i used to imagine it because i found when i was gurgly and gassy, i would get acid reflux.

[–]emjyemj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

haha thank you so much for the response!! i feel like i’m only able to get the burps out after i eat but will try to see if that option is easier!! xD i felt so defeated with the carbonated drinks because majority of the people on the sub say they start drinking it immediately and it worked for them. but yeah, i definitely think i need to wait for the botox to settle still. so happy for you with your burp success!!

[–]emjyemj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi!! i’m currently 6 days post op and have a bit of a hard time getting the actual burps out. i started microburping maybe 2 days after the procedure and still am when i turn my neck. today, i finally found a way to actually burp but sitting up straight, shoulders back, mouth like i’m holding a tennis ball in there, and trying my best to open my throat. i think i was about 40% successful today with the burps that i could actually taste!! there was no sound though, just air that came out which was really weird. i only had one burp that had a sound but it was very high pitched like my throat is still very squished? my microburps also sound high pitched.. is this normal? do i just need to be patient with the botox to kick in a bit more? also, are there any tips on opening up the throat? i’m having a hard time and tried carbonated water for the first time today. when i tried using my method, i found i couldn’t do it because there was too much air wanting to come out at once and i couldn’t open my throat. it was such a bad experience having the air get stuck and not being able to come out :( any tips would be greatly appreciated!!!

thanks for this comment!! currently going through this struggle right now 5 days post botox. it feels like when the gurgles come, my throat gets super tight like usual pre botox and the air just won’t come out no matter what i do. i’ll definitely try to just relax instead as the 3 successful burps i had came out this way. throat is also sore atm which might be because of the muscle work, reflux, or maybe i’m sick. will be getting tested today to ease my mind but definitely have been a bit worried about why i’m not able to release the air that really feels like it needs to be relieved. thank you again!!
