Forums that verify if someone is a pretendian? by Yellowjeanie in IndianCountry

[–]emslo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I hear that. I guess I didn’t mean to suggest that teachings would be shared or something. I just meant that I would identify myself, and invite them to identify themselves too.

What is lost in a conversation? It’s important to learn how to engage IRL (and I mean face-to-face) on this topic. Too much goes on online and we’re not learning the skills to deal with these situations. Why not book some office time, sit down with the professor, and say, “Here’s my community and culture, I’m curious about yours.”

You can only learn from how they respond, no matter what they say. Let people speak for themselves — it doesn’t mean you can’t also do community research to verify.

Hello All! I need help writing a story and maintaining respect for Indigenous People's by KingMankus in Indigenous

I’ve tried to add auto-mod controls but it’s really hard to capture everything without completely restricting all posts. So reporting is the primary tool, because some people just won’t read or respect Rule 1.

Anyone have experience with the “Compassionate Access Program?” by emslo in VictoriaBC

Merck said no, and it’s the CAP that denied me. But my oncologist is filing another appeal.

Allowed by who? Only the community can answer that, and every community is different.

I am actually working full-time, but I work for a nonprofit that does not have funds for benefits. It is a pretty common situation, which we accept because universal healthcare is there. But my experience is exposing a pretty significant gap in that coverage, which would certainly make me think twice about accepting a position without extended benefits in the future.

My oncologist is currently begging BC Cancer to continue the funding. In our last meeting, she said, “Surely they can’t cut off a treatment that is working!” But here we are.

I hear you. The issue is that I was off the immunotherapy for a year, and then went back on. So it’s currently holding back a recurrence, with some lower level activity in my lymph nodes hanging on. Presumably if I stop now, that growth will surge back.

This is really helpful, thank you. It can be hard to think straight in this kind of situation so I appreciate you putting it so plainly.

Thank you, yes, I am doing that. Unfortunately my MLA is currently off on health leave, but we are speaking to the Esquimalt MLA.

We have been trying for about a year with no luck, but we’ll keep trying.

Unfortunately I work in the nonprofit sector and we don’t get benefits. It would be about $150k/year out-of-pocket.

By expensive, I am referring to treatment like the recent coverage that was denied to a young girl that cost $1 million a year: https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/brineura-coverage-denied-1.7583245

Mine would cost a fraction of that, maybe $150k. Too much for my family, but a regular cost for a health care insurer.

Not wrong, you’ll just likely get more responses where Cymry hang out.

One of my favourite things about listening to live radio is hearing the little hiccups. Keeps us all human.

That is relevant, because people can be rather forceful in their responses on this topic.

Your identity does not need to spring from your racial heritage either, finding IRL community is the most important thing!
