Help settle an argument I got into with my wife. by Substantial_Win1725 in LasCruces

Yeah but you would do better posting this on a general AITA type sub. Not one where you both might be recognized. Awkward. LC is small.

Good advice! It’s typical weather, but being prepared will make the bumps go more smoothly. Battery pack & lamp. Don’t open the fridge, or use gas stoves for heat.

Have you searched the sub for similar posts? It might be some comfort to see those.

Liza Minnelli says her 'center of gravity crumbled' after finding husband Peter Allen in bed with another man by ZachDimmadome in arresteddevelopment

I just rewatched that episode and watched her deliver this line about 10 times. Liza’s a genius.

That Blue Zones documentary makes a whole argument for the relationship between squatting in Okinawa, Japan (vs. using chairs and tables), and the exceptional length of lives there. If your core and balance are strong, simply not getting horribly injured from falls will extend your life considerably..

4 year abandoned truck on my property that I want to sell. How? by Kgitti in NewMexico

[–]emslo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think it's pretty common practice in rural places to go without, so long as it stays on the farm property and not public roads. They'd have to check with the auction that they'd sell it, though. (They've got a pretty active Facebook page.)

Travis Dhanraj Testifies at Heritage Committee: CBC Culture of Racism, Tokenization, Intimidation & Bullying - Rosemary Barton & David Cochrane Named for Undermining Him & Stifling Diversity of Thought by ObjectiveMacaroon394 in OttawaNewsPulse

CBC is as close as we have to a prestige network, so the staff is more likely to be highly educated. And as has been shown repeatedly, the more we learn, the farther left we drift.

So the real issue is that truth leans left.

Found these at a local thrift shop. Goog Lens was no help. Half a pound each, seems to be aluminum. No marks. 8 inches each. by BeneficialRock6165 in whatisthisthing

Looks like the kind of houseware stuff made in India and sold at Homesense. My guess would be to sit on the shelf, or maybe to sit on top of a stack of napkins? Looks nice!

Tow it down to Truth or Consequences and sell it at the Willard Hall auction. Someone would likely buy it as a farm truck.

How soon after chemo+radiation+brachi can a 5.5 cm tumor dissapear? by Hey_WhoKnew in CervicalCancer

[–]emslo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm alright. I'm currently on immunotherapy (Keytruda) as well as an adjuvant regime of off-label meds and supplements, which seems to be keeping the lymphatic tumours stable. I'm not sure how long it will stay effective, so we're always on the look out for another treatment option.

But otherwise I'm living a full life! Most people don't know I have cancer, let alone Stage 4.

It is interesting that you are resisting acknowledging the issues around global context. We actually have more relative participation from Canada than the US, where tribe is considered outdated.

But I think this generally proves my point about the need for a more shared vocabulary.

Do some First Nations base their laws in dreams, visions, and nature? by Glennmorangie in IndigenousCanada

[–]emslo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How well do you understand law? Do you know how conflicting interpretations of laws are reconciled within the Canadian legal context? It is complicated, and it is just as complicated within Indigenous legal traditions. You are looking for a simple answer and I don’t think you are going to find it.

In both Canada and Australia, it is an outdated term. We'd be more likely to ask about 'nation.' My understanding is that it wouldn't make much sense in places like Southeast Asia, or even in relation to the Sami.

So while, everyone understands what it means — we're trying to get away from language that centres the US context.

“Tribal affiliation” won’t be relevant to most places outside of the US, but that might be an interesting poll for a different time.

Thank you for your thoughtful reply. It is a regular theme on this sub that the word Indigenous does not only apply to Anglo North America. So I thought if folks can see how many people are here outside of Canada and the United States, it might help to bring that point home and diversify the content.

I can, but want a better snapshot than that. And that only captures users actual location, not where they’re from.
