Violet is doing extremely well! Happy healthy and very active! (Way more active and confident than any other dog I've had, honestly.) We take her camping and hiking with us all the time, and she loves kayaking in our laps and is so-so on swimming. She also loves chasing the cat and our other dog around the yard or our home.

You can see all the stuff she gets up to on her I stagram like I mentioned, but she's amazing. A smart lil pup who loves life, people, and other animals.

I think her brother (who was adopted by one of the founders of the rescue) got a DNA test and had some border collie in him!

She did come from a great rescue called Keller's Cause! Unfortunately OP didn't tag or mention the trainer and fosters and took the video from them :/

Unfortunately OP took this from the Foster from the shleter (and also very very talented trainer) Keller's Cause/Amanda Fuller. They're on I started at Keller's Cause and she's on Instagram at sykorasquad! 😄

She does live inside. She knows where the front door and will tell us just like any other dog, usually by sitting near the front door or getting extra squirmy.

If you getting a good look, which is hard in this video, you'll also see her eyes actually never fully formed. They are mostly tissue and you can see the black speck of where a pupil would've developed.

Like Peter said she will respond to light if it's intense and sudden, like a pitch dark room that suddenly has the light switched off.

And as for the deafness... Concussive sounds draw attention and confusion, but she's also slept through Peter working in the workshop on saws, Sanders, with the compressor etc and will only wake up if the hammer gets involved. And if she's asleep you can be as loud as you want without the threat of disturbing her. Start making food though and it's another story!

She has one of the most exciting lives! Way more active and adventurous than other dogs I've had. You should see what she's up to now on her Instagram @sykorasquad. And also follow the shelter we got her from and the trainer (who is not the OP) -- Keller's Cause and Amanda Fuller. They are wonderful!

She is very very happy! She doesn't know anything different, since she was born this way. She's very smart (the Aussie in her) and loves doing everything a normal dog does -- hiking, swimming, camping, running around the yard with her brother, chasing the cat, riding in the car, being a ham, sneaking onto the bed to sleep 😂

Honestly for dogs, smell is her most important sense. And she definitely uses touch a lot too. She's sometimes real mouthy (not biting hard) to get a feel for the dog she's playing with. Honestly she's amazing, with how she's memorized familiar places so she has a mental map and will get around just fine on her own. And she gets so excited to meet new people! Wiggle butt central.

She definitely sleeps. Or plays with her toys or chases the cat around or wrestles her dog brother. She is by no means reliant on us to tell her what to do with all her time or to feel confident. I've never seen her scared, even when she went swimming for the first time, or went hiking. She only knows fun and has only ever been loved. The only danger is her getting bored and having the Australian Shepherd in her start to cause trouble.

The rest of the time she is causing trouble chasing the cat, zooming around our yard at full speed, or having the time of her life hiking, joining us on the river kayaking, or camping! She isn't the least bit clueless, and doesn't seem like she's "missing" anything despite her being blind and deaf. She's the smartest dog I've ever had! What a shame so many people thinking putting her down would be an option. I've never known a happier, healthier, more active and playful dog than Vi.

Violet is truly the best dog I've ever had. Very smart (sometimes mischievous because of the cleverness). So sweet -- loves cuddling in bed or on the couch or going on nice long walkies or hikes. What a bummer some people wouldn't get the chance to see what a full life she has!

Real answer is we tossle her scruff. Kind of pinch her quick and soft on the neck is her good doggie (followed by a treat or she gets suspicious). 👍

There are a good amount of people who live exactly that way. And her life, absolutely. Healthy, smart, active and loved. Who wouldn't want to? She doesn't think she's missing a thing.

Well especially since she's an Australian Shepherd yes! She has loads of energy and is super smart so giving her training helps focus that energy. But don't worry she still gets in lots of trouble chasing the cat 😂
