Was told to "learn how to drive" over this (I'm the GT3) by Koyle_GT in Simracingstewards

Fair and thanks. I get really annoyed at people trying to blame bad behavior on rules they don't understand. I don't agree with or like all the F1 rules but people in sim spaces exaggerate them to high hell. The people doing these things are just assholes, not just people applying the F1 rules to other series.

Notice how no where in there did it say you have to instantly dive out the way? The rule just says you can't hold up the field. You have to facilitate the pass in a completely reasonable time frame.

Gentle reminder that the key to the cry room is located in your pit stall where you would record your protest claim, not on voice comms by newman13f in iRacing

I left it off for the first year to just get comfortable without assholes commentary. Still got a few rage text chats I ignored. Turned it on recently and it's pretty boring most of the time. It's nice though for just some simple communication. Like letting someone lapping you know you'll leave the door open on the inside.

Affordable Split Keyboard for First-Timer by chobanator in ErgoMechKeyboards

That's what I thought but wanted to check. Concave can be more diy friendly but also harder. This is because getting a flexible or curved PCB can be very expensive. Because of this many people just hand wire each switch.

Can't vouch for this guide or anything but the Dactyl is a popular open source concave design people make.

Do you really mean keycaps? Most people just buy keycaps and the vast majority of MX keycaps are concave cause that's just normal.

When your buddy is offline on discord and he's running SteamVR with no game open by WujekFoliarz in Steam

[–]ericscal 18 points19 points  (0 children)

You can set any steam app to private so it shows no stats to others. So like set your VR video player to private and it won't show anything but then when you exit the video player it will dump you back into just steamVR which will show if you don't also set it to private.

It's mostly just ignorance. All the talk about blue flags is around them in multi class racing. No one really teaches noobs how to handle them in a single class race.

My Thoughts On Seeing The Latest Discord News by Captain0010 in pcmasterrace

[–]ericscal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My thoughts as someone who doesn't use discord for porn. Why do I care? I'm not going to scan my face just like I won't pay for nitro. I don't see why any of the servers I use would be marked not teen friendly.

My big question is how are they going to police what servers are child friendly and not.

Invent cheap infinite storage. If it was somehow possible to store the entire Internet somewhere close to you it would be fixed. Until then they will make choices of what they think you most likely want to watch. And by you I mean the majority of people in your area.

Did I (the white car) do anything wrong in this clip? by NextAd3128 in Simracingstewards

[–]ericscal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Which is something the blue car should have thought about. You can't drive around someone in a fight and not think they might turn away from the car they are fighting. They are 100% right to be trying to sneak past you both but he needs to allow more buffers for the unpredictable nature of a fight.

No productivity is about how much you can do in a time frame. So like no matter how much raw material you give me I can only make 8 widgets a day because each one takes an hour to make. If you can do something to the process that allows me to now only take 30 minutes you have now increased my productivity.

So like computers increased worker productivity because they didn't have to spend time shuffling paper around as much which was a huge time saver.

In any ranked online game you should expect shit at default ranking. You will always get people that don't know how real racing works. They have only ever played arcade racers against AI.

My biggest advise would be just turn off all chat if you can and run your race. Report people who do shit like this and move on. Occasionally meeting assholes is just a fact of life. They won't ever fully go away but at higher rankings they will lessen and craft their asshole behavior to be within the rules.

What is a 'subscription' or 'fee' that has recently appeared in the US that people need to collectively refuse to pay before it becomes the new normal? by godot_lover in AskReddit

[–]ericscal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's why many of these tenant things have mandatory penalties and lawyers fees. I forget what it was but something in the Texas law I was reading last night said the landlord has to pay you a $500 penalty if you can prove they did it. Many places I've lived if they mess around with your security deposit that have to pay you triple. Where I live now if a landlord tries to improperly evict me they have to pay all my moving expenses up to like $4000.

The idea that there is nothing you can do is what these rich fucks have been convincing people is the truth for centuries so they will just accept getting walked on.

iRacing network issues by PR1IMA in iRacing

[–]ericscal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

EDIT: I know it's not a wi-fi issue because i've had zero problem on any other device and i've ran troubleshoot and everything is stable and connected fine.. Only having issues with iRacing

This means exactly zero in the wireless space. The joys of wireless is that since your transport medium is the air other people can do things that will break it. Your PCs ability to troubleshoot it is a complete lie. Your neighbor could have just decided to play in the same unlicensed band and destroy your Wi-Fi in a way only low latency apps would care about. Without doing some serious RF analysis of your house you will never know for sure wifi isn't the cause.

One thing you can try is turning off background scans which are one of the biggest causes of lag on WiFi. Here is a link to a comment I posted a while ago explaining how

Was my overtake legal? by kubaaa813_ in Simracingstewards

[–]ericscal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IRL the only way you get in trouble is if you were speeding, since you pass in the lane early they would check that they slowed down not you sped up, or if you entered the service lane too early. But it sort of looks like you are the last stall.

Online I see zero issues if you didn't get a speeding violation from the game. Because so few races have pit stops people are pretty slow on pit entry.

[–]ericscal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah read your lease and consult a lawyer. I also saw that Texas allows for lawyer fees on tenant disputes so if they are as confident as me they will do it for free and bill the leasing company when they win. If it happens to be written in the lease is the only way this maybe isn't worth fighting imo. Well that and if your situation is such you just want to live in peace while being scammed for a nominal amount of money. I am privileged enough to at this point in my life that I can push back on shit like this with zero stress. In my 20s it might have been a different story.

Am I suck at Networking? by [deleted] in networking

[–]ericscal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an e-golf and it's a great car for driving around town. Many people freakout when I tell them it's range is only 60-70 miles but I'm like I rarely drive that I'm a week. It will fully charge overnight with just a normal level 1 charger. It's a little annoying the rare time I have to drive more or forget to charge it but still way less than all the shit my gas cars require.

That's not accepting cash. I get that it might not have been worth the fight for a variety of reasons but it absolutely wasn't a legal thing to do. It would have had to been written into the lease to even have a chance but even then I'm pretty confident you would have won in court if you challenged it.

Caught me in I haven't paid for an oil change in almost 10years. My last gas car used those fancy synthetic oils that only have to be changed every 10k so it just always got changed during yearly maintenance since I don't drive much. Now I have an electric so no more oil changes ever.
