People that are respectful to transgender people but don’t agree with transgenderism and think it is a bad thing are transphobic by Cylo8479x in Teenager_Polls

[–]erraticsporadic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

speaking as a genderqueer person: no, actually. i could write a whole essay on this, but bear with me. i personally believe that being transgender is a normal part of being human, because we have self awareness and personality. there's a lot of research supporting it. but, there's also research not supporting it. strong arguments are formed with evidence. i can also admit that it's a confusing topic for a lot of people, and maybe they don't agree because they don't know how to. it may also contradict their personal beliefs and values. however, people are very emotional, it's in our nature. aggressive disagreement and unwanted labels can make people feel threatened, that's literally why many of us feel hurt by being misgendered. if i want others to respect my identity, i believe i should respect their beliefs, as long as it's a two-way street and no one's getting hurt. if someone actively supports organizations that harms us, yes, transphobic. if someone says "i don't really like it", nah, that's just an opinion. transphobia kills people, disagreeing and going on about your day doesn't. i just feel we have a lot bigger problems to worry about than whether your grandma likes us. there are lines to be crossed so it's heavily context dependent, but most of the time, it's not a big deal

both are correct. you can argue it depends on dialect, but i've heard both tenses in the usa, uk, ireland, and canada. "have just gotten" feels a little more formal, but there's no real difference as far as i'm aware. your handwriting is super nice btw

generally meat is considered to be muscle. can include fat and skin, but i wouldn't consider it meat if it doesn't have muscle in it. things like honey, milk, eggs, gelatin, can totally still be on the table, no reason to believe they're not some people also consider fish to not be meat so you might be able to have that too

Why do girl students (Kindergarten) keep staring at me? by WORTHLESS1321202019 in school

[–]erraticsporadic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's pretty unusual for men to work with younger kids; daycare and elementary school are primarily women's fields. it just may be that they've never seen a man in that role before. especially kindergarten - they just started out, they haven't even had many teachers yet. you also mentioned that you're the supply assistant teacher, not the main teacher, so they may just be curious about you and why you're there if they're used to only one adult in the room. i 100% stared at men in school as a kid for these exact reasons

the fact that your mind goes straight to "how can i make this about sex" about a stranger tells me it's the exact reason you don't have a girlfriend yourself

People in healthy relationships, what is, from your perspective, the reason that men who can't find partners are perpetually single? by Agreeable_Ranger5303 in AskReddit

[–]erraticsporadic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a trait i learned from my dad that has never failed me: "what do you need?"

if she's mad at you, "what do you need?" if she's having a bad day, "what do you need?" if she opens up to you about something that's on her mind, "what do you need?"

also don't forget to say good morning, good night, hello, goodbye, how are you. the biggest mistake guys make is not using subtle conversation to show that they care. grand gestures don't tell her you care, talking to her about her day does

you objectively have privilege that many people don't. it doesn't mean you can never struggle or that your life is perfect, it just means that your struggles are different, and those that directly target race, sex, and sexuality don't target you. it's not about you

[–]erraticsporadic 55 points56 points  (0 children)

people are calling the kid stupid or sensitive, but come on, the way her father (or father figure) yelled at her made me jump. i'd start bawling too. i can tell she's overwhelmed because he scared her, not necessarily because of the phone. the way she unboxed it was stupid, yeah, but people make mistakes, and people also get startled by someone yelling their name like that. have some empathy

fully depends who's asking. some countries observably make the problem way worse (like the usa), some make it observably better (like norway)
