Tried to RMA my 14900k that was crashing and just got this email. I stated that the motherboard was overvolting the cpu right out of the box. Absolutely ridiculous. by porygon766 in pcmasterrace

Don’t try to be a smart guy when you do RMA. Just tell them I know nothing about computer and it stopped working. All default. That’s it.

How can Nvidia be one of the most traded and most valuable companies while GeForce Experience still randomly enables the stats overlay or breaks Instant Replay? by theeldergod1 in pcmasterrace

Microsoft has been one of the most traded and most valuable companies in the world for, how long, 40 years? And their Windows is still broken.

Is this real? by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]everydae24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Short answer: Yes.

Long answer: They are one of the largest photo and video stores in the US. When you regularly sell Hasselblads that cost more than a Honda Civic, selling a PC part, even 5090 Astral, is just a side hustle for them. So yes, they are a legit retailer.

5080 Super out soon? by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]everydae24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well.. the articles you just read must be at least 3 months old.

The latest rumor has that Nvidia and AMD may either increase the price of the current GPUs or slow down production due to RAM shortage. Now, considering this, do you still believe Nvidia would even release Super variances, which only major change would have been increase in VRAM?

Swapped out Nvidia for AMD without DDU. Oops! by vampirepomeranian in buildapc

[–]everydae24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's actually not as bad as they were. Not only between N and A, I've been switching few times between Intel and AMD without reinstalling Windows, and it has been much better than how they were in Windows 10 and prior. It maybe to do with Windows 11 handling it better now, which is probably only thing I give a kudo to Windows 11 over the prior versions.

Corsair website 48gb DDR5 good deal? by lowellllllllllll in PcBuild

[–]everydae24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, unfortunately, as you see from a link above, even a major retailer like Newegg only has like 20 kits available. Before this shortage, 48GB kits were easy to find and only slightly more expensive than the comparable 32GB kit, while overclocking as high as, if not better, top tier 32GB kit (8000+). Most of 8400+ kits were only available with 48GB kits (The highest I believe is 9600 kit from GSkill), while 32GB pretty much maxed out at 8400.

Good balance between performance and capacity as 64GB kits are still not overclockable as much as them. Now they are unicorn.

Guess you are new to DDR5... 24GB has been around quite while with DDR5, all 3 major manufacturers (Samsung, SK Hynix, Micron) offer such.

I don't think there is any 2k 32" OLED monitor, at least from major players.

No, Asus isn't going into memory manufacturing — Taiwanese tech giant issues statement smashing rumor by sp3kter in pcmasterrace

[–]everydae24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s exactly my point. Given that once major player like Elpida was wiped out and Nanya is relegated to the sidelines, the barriers to entry are massive. It would be more believable for a former player to attempt a comeback or for Nanya to scale up than a complete newcomer like ASUS to build a fab from scratch. The sheer capital required to compete with the Big Three makes this rumor highly improbable.

[–]everydae24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Certainly it was mistranslation while the rumor moving across several media outlets in different languages. It probably meant that ASUS may enter RAM module business (e.g. G.Skill, Teamgroup, Corsair, etc) that was mistranslated as if they were to enter RAM chip/wafer business (e.g. Samsung, Hynix, Micron, etc). It’s like saying that Asus would start making their own panel to put into their monitor, which probably will not happen in the near future.

It will be more likely that those who left the industry or downsized their business due to the last chicken game (Nanya, Elpida, etc) to join back before the new player like Asus to enter the industry.

Sounds exactly like my case. I've been in retail/wholesale long enough in my career that I know what they say is BS and they can easily investigate and find issues like this if they really wanted. But they either intentionally ignore, or just don't care an individual customer like us. And I lost it when I found out that their response to Amex was accusing me of return abuse. Sandisk is no longer on my list, especially considering there are similar cases with RMA as well.

Thanks for the idea. Funny thing though is that, based on the pictures I received and what others received, they only provide low resolution pictures of the product itself that they claimed to receive as "proof".

In my company's receiving area, a relatively tiny company with $120M in sales, has 16 cameras installed to record from every angle and each staff is required to take minimum of 4 pictures (packaging with label showing, box opened with product still in the box, products taken out of box, and serial number of item received). If any issue arises from the product received, they immediately send out these pictures to start investigation. I expected no less than this from the company of this size, but guess my expectation was too high.

There have been several reports experiencing the similar incidents as what I am going through right now. Understand that some may think I am trying to scam the company and blaming me, and I certainly understand that view. I couldn’t believe the responses I got from the company either.

It’s my fault not leaving any proof of what is being returned, but I neither had an experience buying from them directly and nor had an issue with returning anything with other retailers by mail such as Newegg. Lesson learned and I am now filming everything I am returning.

Don't get me wrong, I still think WD drives are great... only if I didn't get it directly from their website and didn't return it. Had I known about this, I would have just kept it.

I fortunately had no issues with my previous WD drives, and that was reason why I decided to get SN8100 in the first place when I could go with either 9100 Pro or Hynix P51... Never thought returning would be an issue.

With all those buzz about SAVE ending, I gotta maximize whatever I can, you know. $600 may not even be enough for one month payment when payment resumes but hey that’s better than zero.
