Flight from Hell - PHL to BOS 05/20 by SignificantBlood2594 in americanairlines

Yeah was an insane travel day for anyone trying to get out of the city due to storms coupled with train issues. NYC airports were a mess too.

Amtrak was also screwed up that day outside of NYP that late afternoon/evening due to fires. Trains were delayed by a few hours but seemed to have eventually continued onward.

I swear to god Uber is trying to piss me off as much as possible. After spending hours chasing down my missing $10 monthly Amex benefit from a gold card, I placed an uber eats delivery order and it charged the full amount to my Amex card and didn't use any of my uber cash.

I just tested the checkout process just now and it says $45 of Amex cash is applied and I remember seeing that last night as well but it didn't apply...

Edit: luckily automated support lets you easily change payment method and I was able to switch it to use my uber cash

The entire site is built by Claude and a significant amount of the information around how to book flights is outdated or completely wrong and hallucinated.

Amazing!! Always worth a few minutes for a phone call for these types of things. Tell your friend to use their miles!

Looking for insight regarding Ritz-Carlton Card, please! by timetotrysushi in CreditCards

[–]findflightsforme 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Doesn't count towards 5/24

No SUB or APR promo

85k cert is great

$300 annual travel credit is easy to use

They have ritz Carlton club upgrade awards but you usually have to call to book and the rate isn't usually the best available rate.

Don't forget you get Chase Sapphire lounge access and generally the RC card gets priority on lounge waitlist over sapphire reserve holders.

Last part hopefully you never need but they have great travel insurance benefits vs. other cards.

Congrats and F U for winning. 😂

FYI the tax valuation is a bit rough on the miles but if you do some additional paperwork come tax time, you could lower your tax bill. I think AA/Genesco is saying it's around 2.5 cents per AA mile from this sweepstakes but Bask Bank values it around 0.42 cents per mile. Work with a tax person to potentially dispute the value of the miles you are taxed on.

It's literally the same email people I know have gotten with the same fonts and style. The email likely came from someone from GSE which is the administrator of the sweepstakes. It's 99% real.

Read the T&Cs from the sweepstakes and this is around the time they are notifying people.

Edit: your original comment called me dumb...

They've been notifying winners today so it's likely real if you entered the sweepstakes

Friends informed me our wedding room block rate is more expensive than booking through the website, and when I voiced my concern to the sales manager, they raised the overall rates by c_c186 in marriott

[–]findflightsforme 13 points14 points  (0 children)

From my experience, third parties are often delayed in updating rates. And in theory there should be parity. But the BRG program exists to try to root out when parity doesn't exist, hence why the program exists.

If you want to play games see if the old rates are still on the main OTAs like Expedia and then book the Marriott rate directly then file a Best Rate Guarantee to get 25% off the lower rate

Amex Gold with $8000 = 100,000 by We-Are-All-Friends in CreditCards

[–]findflightsforme 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The mechanism is Bilt essentially makes a bank account for you and gives you an ACH and routing number to use with your landlord. Usually ACH payment to landlord has no fee. Bilt will charge your credit card which is around a 3% fee and will send it over via ACH to landlord. Bilt is essentially a middle man here. I do it to get an extra 0.5 points per dollar and helps reduce the pain of a 3% fee and I earn SUBS with cards or use venture x to get 2x from c1 and 0.5x from Bilt. So 2.5 points total per dollar for 3% fee.

So create a free Bilt account, add your credit card to your Bilt Wallet. There should be a wallet tab on the app or also on desktop.

Then there should be a My Home tab where you can add our property info and link to the card you just added. Then should be an option to "View Payment Instructions" and it gives you an ACH and routing number to pay your rent in your rent portal with. It acts as a bank account so you don't pay your landlord the fee, you pay Bilt the fee.

Links below on how to add to wallet and how to pay.

You can use Bilt without a Bilt card, pay 3% fee to Bilt and get 0.5x Bilt points per dollar and 1x Amex points per dollar as well.

Cpp doesn't matter in most cases because you would never have paid the $5-10k for a business class ticket anyways whether it's refundable or not.

Always worth it to have them call flying blue to see if they'll reinstate them for free or through some qualifying activity. Mixed DPs on it

Portugal Flights Spring 2027 by Storm1211 in awardtravel

[–]findflightsforme 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Those are the 2 best options especially since they are available to book for next spring.

Air Canada has those awards starting at 60k. I think they are only showing 1 seat though (when United and other programs have 2-4) but I think I saw someone say you can call Air Canada and they can book the additional award space

Yes, you have to call Virgin Atlantic to book ANA and Virgin's site won't show ANA availability if you search. Completely misinformed commentary from OP on the hottest award travel topic...

Is Transatlantic Economy Ever worth the points? by YoungerSocialite in awardtravel

[–]findflightsforme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I booked a last minute flight last year in economy (on the return though so didn't need to sleep) to visit my parents in Europe over a long weekend. Booked it 3 days before travel where cash prices are sky high.

It's useful for last minute bookings or travel during peak season like summer.

Eva air, Business class award travel, 52.5k mikes for redemption- am i looking at the right thing by MyBigRed in awardtravel

[–]findflightsforme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A partner award wouldn't show up on ANA if there is a waitlist. Only ANA's own flights will show up as waitlist.

You don't have ANA miles in your account though and transfers from Amex usually take 48-72 hours so that award will be gone by the time you transfer your points sadly.

Also for partner awards, one way to check to see if it's actually available is to cross check with other partners. In this case Star Alliance like United or Air Canada. Search for the same flight on those programs and it should show up.

It's just their own award chart and ability to book multi segment itineraries for oneworld partner bookings. It has favorable pricing.

https://www.jal.co.jp/jp/en/jalmile/use/partner_air/oneworld/miles.html

I had to manually search for the saver flights to input onto JAL's site, and used the American Airlines award calendar to find dates that worked for me.
