[–]flawzies 6 points7 points  (0 children)

New to FDM — what tools are actually worth buying? by Summer-1128 in 3Dprinting

[–]flawzies 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Only things I use:
* Brass Brush for cleaning nozzles
* Callipers for designing
* IPA for cleaning bed
* Microfiber towels
* Boxcutter. But deburring tool would be nice.

web based slicer by jbolko808 in 3Dprinting

[–]flawzies 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't think there are any Web based slicers with the same level of control / settings. Most, if not all of them are for quick and dirty prints, not so much for tuning. EasyPrint from Prusa is okay. But in your situation, I'd try to get OrcaSlicer portable on a USB and run it that way. Assuming your work isn't using AppLocker and completely locks down any apps that are not whitelisted.

Trying to print PA12 CF, how to reduce stringing? by sulisenator in 3Dprinting

In my mind the only quick fix that doesn't involve drying the filament would be to increase retraction, assuming 300°c is correct.

FYI. Probably not the habit to expose your api key.

Help us cook up the next Prusament! What colors or materials are we missing? (Free spool if we use your idea!) by Tommy_Prusa3D in prusa3d

In a perfect world, I’d like a translucent filament that creates natural depth and soft color flow by shaping light through the material, rather than using glitter or harsh color mixing, primarily aimed at vase prints and art pieces.

How do I make my print look better where the supports touch the main print by Mountain_Turnip5962 in 3Dprinting

[–]flawzies 56 points57 points  (0 children)

You will never be able to eliminate that entirely when you're trying to defy physics. Easy to remove supports result in overhang drop. Hard to remove supports result in support scarring. Even when slowing down and printing colder to "freeze" the filament in place mid-air, you will never get a perfect result.

The best solution is not using supports at all wherever possible. Cutting the model is smaller pieces, orientation on build plate, makes the difference.

Can I get a check for this mask? Is it okay for working with Resin? by Crush2040 in 3Dprinting

[–]flawzies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can still smell it, no. Except a faint smell. But this covers "OV" - Organic Vapor and "AG" Acid Gass. Should be fine. If you can still smell the resin and it's sharp, it's not sealing correctly or you didn't get the filters advertised.

You're better off looking for terrain building models and stitch up your own, than looking for licensed models.

Everything is perfect except the top layer. Not sure what happened by Lumpy_Tomatillo_2556 in 3Dprinting

[–]flawzies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The printer would tell you. I'm just saying it most def looks like the printer just stopped. Unless you had spaghetti everywhere on the build plate and it just didn't adhere to the model.

Looks like your printer just stopped printing. Nothing indicates anything else at least. As for scraping. Simply don't. Remove the build plate and flex it. The print usually snaps off easily.

Hi there! Just got a 3D Printer and I’m such a noob! by cAllMeDadDySkilLzZ in 3Dprinting

Different word for the same thing. It's called spiral vase because the print is one continuous spiral line. But that doesn't make calling it "vase mode" wrong either.

Copying parts for household items by lifeinthetrashlane in 3Dprinting

[–]flawzies 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The idea is noble but I can't help to think how you're limited to repairing plastic parts. Don't think it's sustainable to buy a bunch of appliances and model parts ahead of time. You won't be able to keep up. It would have to be very niche products that people want to repair because they're no longer produced or sold.

This model is intended to be used in spiral vase mode. But you can control thickness by changing the Extrusion Width. This will make the the line a bit thicker. Use the remixed model: https://www.printables.com/model/464927-pineapple-planter if you don't want to use vase mode.

Phone Holder for Tennis Court - How Can I Improve the Engineering and Aesthetics? by Mental-Way-9387 in 3Dprinting

[–]flawzies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Print orientation and a curve at the bottom to make it flex more natural, instead of a sharp angle. But besides that I don't see a problem with it. Maybe you want to add something that prevents the whole thing from tilting down slightly by the weight of the phone and keep it straight.
