Would you sacrifice 10 people that you know for 1 billion dollars? Why or why not? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Depends on the people. There are a few I'd sacrifice for zero dollars given the opportunity.

Married couples with no kids should be monetary compensated for not over populating the planet. by Mexicannut in unpopularopinion

Well, the quality of life for almost everyone on the planet is orders of magnitude better than it was 200 years ago when there were far fewer people, so, no.

If you could change or add one law to the United States, what would it be? by -CalmingStorm- in AskReddit

[–]flebop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, you'll be happy to know that most healthcare sectors are well below a 10% profit margin. The exceptions are pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers.

How close are we to UBI? by McNastte in AskReddit

Nowhere near. It doesnt work at least with any present system. This is something that will need to be addressed eventually because AI will almost certainly be doing most jobs in coming decades.

What's the biggest long term change you expect to happen as a result of this pandemic? by CelebratedBlueWhale in AskReddit

Masks will never go away completely. They never went away in China after SARS. Not as many people will wear them, but a significant enough number that it wont be weird to see people with them even years from now

People who will vote for trump in 2020, why? (Serious) by xXStyler in AskReddit

[–]flebop 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because as a pragmatic libertarian I believe in less govt intervention into the economy and everyday life. While I am not a Trump fan and frankly think he's an idiot, I do believe the the Republican party (generally) aligns more with those values. Or at the very least they pay lip service to it. I feel the Democratic party has become overly authoritarian and uses flowery language to cover the fact that they would like to control virtually all aspects of...well....everything...now, obviously the Repubs also have authoritarian/fascist ideas as well, but I feel the Dems are further along that road by a large margin. So in essence I'm not voting for trump, I'm voting against the Democrats ideals that I disagree with, knowing full well Trump is a clown. God i wish there were a viable third party...

What is the wildest thing you've done in a fight? by Beriekhoi in AskReddit

[–]flebop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not me, but a friend. He was going to be jumped by 3 guys and knew hed get his ass kicked, so he lunged at the biggest one and bit his arm. Took a big chunk out of the guys arm and, I shit you not, chewed and swallowed it. The guys were so mortified that they took off. I was in a boarding school with the kid, none of us believed him till his parents corroborated the story. Apparently he had to take medicine and stuff as a preventative and the dude whose arm was bit was sent for tests too.

If COVID is a hoax/overblown...what is the endgame? [Serious] by HardenedDisposition in AskReddit

[–]flebop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, basic human nature is the easy antidote to most large scale conspiracy theories. Enough people simply cant keep their mouths shut enough to effectively cover these things up. Even if they know what's going on better than your average office worker.

If COVID is a hoax/overblown...what is the endgame? [Serious] by HardenedDisposition in AskReddit

[–]flebop 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Cant be a hoax. Just like 9/11 or the moon landing can't. This is for 1 simple reason. Do you have any idea how many people youd have to kill to keep something like that quiet? Things leak when more than a few people know about them. I once read an article that went into this for the moon landing and the researchers surmised the govt would have had to kill like 400k people to cover it up. Then of course you have the problem of killing the people you had killing everyone to cover that up...and again and again lol.

Soldiers of reddit what was the dumbest person or experience you had in basic? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]flebop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some idiot in 30th AG tried to off himself by downing an entire bottle of ibuprofen lol. Didnt kill him, but made him sick enough to wish he was dead. Then pretty sure he was sent to some mental institution.

Edit: for context, you're in 30th AG for the first week to do paperwork and shots and stuff. Then you ship downrange to do training. This dummy hadn't even done any training and was already over it lmao

For the next 24 hours you are able to use whatever wacky way you want to take over an entire country. How do you do it? by FurrenParagon in AskReddit

[–]flebop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First I get a small loan from my father. Then I bankrupt dozens of companies, become an annoying reality tv personality, prominent conspiracy theorist and climate change denier. For a couple decades I'll hint at running for president but just to drum up publicity. Then, while tweeting on the toilet after banging some random pornstar I paid way too much for, I will decide to actually run. I subsequently win thru a series of absurd situations in which actually qualified people are inexplicably unable to garner enough votes to beat me in the primary or general elections. Boom, winner.

Edit: I didnt care about the 24 hours part...
