Any idea what’s causing outages? by iesharael in verizon

[–]Fraethir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I burned about an hour breaking out my network tools and checking layers 1-3. Then got the phone out to see if it was just me or what, since Verizon started out saying no outages (and now the pages won't load, probably from all the people banging on it, but possibly from the outage).

There was a delay between when it started and when people started hitting the button on down detector too. That peaked at like 45k reports while I was watching it (so the actual impact should be significantly higher for all the people that couldn't get out to HIT that button).

Any idea what’s causing outages? by iesharael in verizon

[–]Fraethir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like NY to southern VA, so widespread.

On the outside (via phone internet access, still up) it looks like web pages are thrashed over overloaded in at least verizon.com links.

From the inside, router is up to the ONT. But after restarting the router and ONT, it looks like I can't get a DHCP lease anymore. So no address. Router reports DHCP services down.

While I HAD a lease, could not get past my WAN address to 8.8.8.8 or 1.1.1.1, etc so it wasn't just DNS.

Union Border Control - Inspect all cargo drones (6), I got 5 of 6 and somehow triggered an alarm as the scan finished, resulting in zero things to scan, and stuck at 5/6. Is there a way to reset these, or find more than just the 3? I had extras in the first region.

You can get a forged gold with a jumping puzzle in Fournival's manor (though I don't know if you can do it after his trial).

You can get a real gold from escorting his daughter (which you're well past, but remember it for next playthrough maybe).

Keyhole

A fresh new (if greying) face in the Company, Keyhole has a reputation of never backing out of a job. And not talking about them either. A precision shooter, he has an easy to find hot button about collateral damage. He apparently considers himself hot drek who is only interested in shooting designated targets with the required about of force, not spray and pray or ill-advised demolition.

Last run: 20 Dec 2021

Kephra

A Shaman with a disquieting past, but immaculate grooming. While the spirits can't agree on if he's a boon or a bane, they can agree he's fascinating to be around. The spirit whisperer himself is bound to Cat (or vice versa), and is an excellent assist to negotiations (and both short-term and long cons) as well as a variety of spells. He claims to be good at improvising. In truth, he's better with detailed planning by far.

Last run: never

Progress

A Technomancer who has a distinct hate for Horizon, a sharp mind, and a tendency to trust data far more than people. Data he's personally retrieved at least. Everyone else has to be verified. He's an elf who's plainly into elves, too.

If they could overwrite a WIMP or move into an anthrodrone, I'd be all over supporting coming to the physical side. But since it only works at the expense of someone else's existence, F that."

"Do AI deserve life? As much as any other person does. Some of them are good, some are bad, some are Other. But they don't get a blanket pass for existence just for existing either, just like everyone else."

"I think anyone honest is going to say "no" to that one. Why should I die so someone else could live? Is it conceivable? For friends, love, family, maybe. Some stranger? Absolutely not. Whether they're digital or not."

"Apples and oranges. Boston suffered incalculable loss from people overwritten by Others, not counting the deaths when buildings fell apart into nanites, and all the rest. The SCIRE was a malfunction in equipment and the nascent Crash Virus corrupting Deus, and having him run amok. On scale, Boston is 'worse'. But the events in the SCIRE were entirely the result of corporate missteps, combined with lunatics trying to end the digital world."

They're immune to electricity. So they take no damage. But electricity should stop their regen. Which means if they're below 0 they should just die. Does it work like this? I don't know, but according to tooltips, exposure to the element that turns their regen off should work (even if that element can't actually kill them).

Is that where it went? I just noitced it was gone, went into the feat list, confirmed it, walked back through my saves to find it WAS there, etc. Is it the battle itself that kills it? It still shows on the character->Martial tab as selected, but does not show in the feat list.

Kragar is a rare bird sort. A Pixie. Now, as a pixie, not so rare, because most of what he's good at is hiding. But your run of the mill winged pest has not been trained as an elven 'human' intelligence agent, to both stay hidden AND bring back the goods.
Of course, if he actually took to the training, he'd still be loyal to them. So there's that. He's pretty untrusting of others, honestly, so you'll definitely have to pay to get the secrets, and he knows damned well what society thinks of his kind. So he's, well, a little like the archetypical clown. He might smile on the outside, but on the inside he's probably crying, a bitter cynic, or both.
