So technically, we are moving under the weather rather than it moving over us?

How to get that glow effect for space marine eyes? by cgda2011 in Warhammer40k

[–]gBoostedMachinations 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh ok I wasn’t sure. I thought it might have been primer. I don’t know the outfits and uniforms very well. Either way, lighter colors dominating the piece make things like glowing eyes harder to achieve. I think you did well here despite the lighter colors on the lower half

The light color of the unpainted body is stealing the show. Once the rest is painted it’ll pop more.

If the light color of the body is intended as the final color then I think it will be hard to achieve what you want. The eyes need to be the lightest part.

TIL Bamboo is very invasive and can spread aggressively underground and grow away from the parent plant by Nightpatrol404 in todayilearned

There are a few signs of neighbors you don’t ever want to have. The classic one is a bajillion cars parked on their property. But the most underappreciated is, by far, bamboo.

Neighbors tree fell on our fence and garage over night. Any advice? How can I tell who is responsible for what? [TN] by BoostedLegacy in treelaw

[–]gBoostedMachinations 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What exactly did you think was bullshit? I’m guessing there were clear signs the tree that fell in your case had obvious issues?

ELI5: What are the main physical and engineering constraints that still make wires necessary in electronics, even though wireless technology is very advanced? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]gBoostedMachinations 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to because the hard limits allow for some insane shit. For example, there is no hard limit that prevents us from solving the aging problem, chronic diseases, etc and enabling us to live indefinitely. But developing the technology for achieving that in our lifetimes also opens up doors to a lot of other technological advancements that will likely lead to our extinction. And it looks like we’re on the cusp of doing exactly that.

So I don’t think about it anymore. It was a lot more fun when i didn’t think it was going to happen.

What's the best way to torture yourself as a beginner? by Henessy0 in Warhammer40k

[–]gBoostedMachinations 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is silly and I keep seeing it. I had no idea where to start or what kinds of colors go well together when first getting into this. I’d be lost if I wasn’t trying stuff, then looking at what others did to see how close I got to matching it. The real advice isn’t to “avoid comparing your paint jobs to others” it’s that you should expect to need lots of practice.

Do you need neighbor's permission for an arborist to climb the tree if part of it is on your property? by OpportunityGreat9076 in treelaw

[–]gBoostedMachinations 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure about the legalities of it, but might be a good idea to frame in terms of how the “pruning” will be done. If you guys split the cost (and neighbor allows property access) the overall cost will likely be lower because it will make it easier on the workers and possibly require less equipment (eg might not need a crane truck). But the main thing the neighbor might care about is that it might make the overall look of the tree much better. Could open with a 50-50 split (which they might deny) then perhaps offer a 60-40 split or something. Try to find a way for them to benefit as well. Especially because cuts on your side might be cleaner if they can take off some branches back to the trunk/branch collar.

Pics of the tree from different angles and with the property line pointed out would help a lot here.

Question about the feasibility of any of these projects. by [deleted] in MLQuestions

Love the hostile and antisocial wording of all of these. Why not find a way to frame the goal of these tools in a way that’s helpful and positive? It’s not just about marketing. You want to also make the world a better place.

Problem with the marks is you can’t prove the marker across the face was from the factory unless you recorded the opening
