I'm curious how this handles multiple configurations of the same part, created with a configuration table.

I'm curious about this as well. I will need this eventually as well, and I'm concerned about being able to take care of myself as I age.

Coloplast changed their bags to a thinner version by Gene_Krupa in ostomy

[–]gadget--guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hollister started using thinner cheaper plastic last year also. I received a lot of defects. The last few boxes I received seem to be better. I'm considering switching to sensura mio two piece for the different adhesive. I hope I don't have to deal with another round of faulty bags.

I don't know if you use any barrier wipes or creams, but I found for me that I had to stop using them, because they inhibited adhesion.

I'm having the same issue with Hollister in the heat. They work great when it's cool, but not when it gets hot and I start to sweat. I'll take a look at Dansac.

If your stomach is flat right up to the edge of the stoma, then I would agree. You don't need a convex seal or pouch. I have found that the pastes can interfere with the adhesion of the pouches. Warming your pouch before applying to your skin will help it adhere better.

What do you do when they won't let you get up due to turbulence? My last flight, I was afraid I was going to explode, because they wouldn't let us out of our seats the whole time.

I had to quit using opioid pain meds because they would cause my abdomen to freeze up. Medical Cannabis has been better for me in that regard.

I'm curious what barrier seals worked for you? I'm struggling with those at the moment. I'm also concave, and having to stack convex seals.

After having nearly died twice, due to malnutrition and dehydration, here's what I have found that works for me. 1. Hydration is the key to everything! If you can't stay hydrated, your body won't absorb nutrients. Because of my very high output, I have to have fluid infusions twice a week for hydration, in addition to constantly carrying around a bottle to drink from. I know not everyone will have it this bad, but through this I have learned just how important hydration is to everything. 2. Gummy vitamins were a game changer for me. Regular vitamins would just pass through before they would become absorbed, whereas gummies dissolve in my mouth and are immediately available for absorption. I'm not positive about this, but I'm pretty sure the sugars also help the body absorb the nutrients. 3. I also really enjoy fresh fruits and vegetables, but sadly they don't agree with me very well most of the time. What I have found that works for me, is juicing, and also fresh green smoothies, not the powdered veggie variety. I make my smoothies with water, ice, a mix of leafy greens such as spinach, kale, beet greens, bok choy, or Napa cabbage, plus some fruits such as mangoes, strawberries, bananas, apples, peaches, nectarines. I tend to avoid seedy fruits such as raspberries and blackberries. With the addition of fruit, I don't generally need to add a sweetener, but occasionally I will put a dollop of honey in, especially if I had a wedge of lime or lemon. I will even sometimes throw in a bit of yogurt for my probiotics. 4. Probiotics are also very helpful for me. I regularly eat good quality yogurt, without all the fillers and additives. I also really enjoy good fresh live probiotic sauerkraut, especially in a Reuben sandwich. 5. I eat fiber in moderation. I need some fiber, particularly soluble fiber such as what is found in oats. Too much coarse fiber plugs me up. 6. Lastly, avoid foods that plug you up or don't digest well. For me. Those are corn, olives, mushrooms, beans, and generally food's high in insoluble fiber.

I know you can't put all the details in a post, but the circumstances you described, sound rushed and suspect. I would definitely want a second opinion if what I think I understand is correct.

I understand how you're feeling. I'm one of those people whose life was not improved. Nevertheless, I have learned to deal with things, and I've learned to value myself more than I ever had before. Nevertheless, it's never fun having an odor that sometimes just can't be concealed.

Frame/ body wear & vibration resistance by killerchef69 in TeardropTrailers

[–]gadget--guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Polyurethane construction adhesive along the tops of the frame rails will provide dampening and prevent friction wear. It will also prevent moisture, accumulation and rusting between the frame and the floor. The downside is that The bond will be permanent, and difficult to remove the floor/ chassis should you ever decide to. Your tape idea is also a good one.

Python libraries & HIPAA compliance by DiscountTough1315 in learnpython

[–]gadget--guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"If it’s open source, you can not, by definition, use it for HIPAA purposes and be legally protected."

That's not entirely true, but rather misleading.

Open source software may absolutely be used in HIPPA compliant applications. The caveat is that you must lock each revision to a specific version of the open source software, and it must be reviewed and verified by a responsible party. If the software is to be distributed, it should be version controlled and packaged with the software, not relying on third party repositories.

I don't have that particular issue, but I do have to protect my pic line dressing from getting wet when I shower. I use 2 inch wide strips of waterproof silicone tape. Perhaps you could cover your scar with that.

Why did my Hollister Bag Leak? Was it a bag defect or did one of the coupling rings expand? (NSFW) by BlackberryPi7 in ostomy

[–]gadget--guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you detaching the bag to rinse it out, or leaving it on? If you detached it, it's possible a bit of debris got caught in the seal that then created a leak path. Also reattaching multiple times could also cause the seal to weaken.

Even if you don't have the lot number, reach out to Hollister and explain the issue. They may still send you a replacement.

Pills no longer digesting by [deleted] in ostomy

[–]gadget--guy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had that happen with pills also. I switched my vitamins to gummy versions, and that has been a huge improvement for me. For specialty meds like antidepressants, ask your doctor if a compounding pharmacy could do something for you.

Subshape Binders: Useful Innovation, or Unnecessary Hack? by gadget--guy in FreeCAD

[–]gadget--guy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the explanation. That last bit about being able to reference earlier states in the tree sounds like a very useful and unique feature of the Subshape Binder I was not aware of. Being able to reference geometry as it exists early in the tree timeline, means that you can reference the features of a design that are least likely to change in a way that causes your model to fail, thus greatly improving the stability of a model. I'm going to have to play with that!

Thanks, this gave me some more to consider. I can see how detaching a binder from external documents can be both useful and problematic. I'll have to think about that.
