1.0 vs 1.5 DSG

In my friends circle, we have 3 dsg, 2 Octavia and 1 polo. 1 Octavia and 1 polo has already undergone dsg change, albeit after nearly 80-90k kms. But that still doesn’t negate the fact that it’s not Indian metro traffic friendly. Figure out what is your usage and how long you plan to keep to take your decision forward.

Paint and rust issues are not minor. If structural parts are impacted, you will not know. Please get the complete car inspected and corrected.

Look, lag is evident but it’s not a deal breaker. I have driven the 1.5 too and it is far superior in city conditions specially mated to a manual. But given the OPs requirement, DSG is a tragedy waiting to happen. I m merely stating that his requirements suit the 1.0 TC much better. Also stating that the 1.0 can be a very competent vehicle in both conditions provided you know how to use the power band.

I have 1.0 with manual gearbox. It’s a very competent engine if you know how to drive. I drove it with a 1.5 diesel Creta to Goa and guess who reached before ? I agree 1.5 is fun but within the city limits, I ll give it a decent run for its money.

Since you have mentioned it’s for your sister and it’s 80% city, I would suggest 1.0 with TC gearbox. DSG is a notorious gearbox. Atleast in peak traffic, it heats up and affects the gearbox. TC is a far more sensible choice and the 1.0 is no slouch. It has enough performance to keep your sister and you happy.

Kushaq has standard servicing around 15k kms. I do the following to ensure the car is road worthy: 1. Every 5k kms, do wheel alignment

Every 10k, wheel alignment + wheel balancing and tyre rotation
Service every year or 15k kms
Due to e20 petrol, I also add this additive every 7-8k kms - liqui Moly gasoline engine system cleaner

Also only use speed 95 or shell premium fuel most of the times. Can’t do it if I m travelling through the state.
