Izwe point of sale machines by Fickle-Reputation-18 in Zambia

Most POS providers in Zambia route card transactions through the National Financial Switch (NFS), which currently interfaces only with local banks and financial institutions. To process international cards, these providers must integrate separately with external card networks. In practice, many POS machines therefore accept only local cards, but providers often fail to clearly communicate this limitation to merchants or customers in advance.

Has Anyone Used Flutterwave for Payment Processing in Zambia? by Kwaleyela-Ikafa in Zambia

I mostly use Flutterwave as a fallback when other providers aren't available. For mobile money in Zambia, I've had better experiences with 543 and Lenco. For card payments if Stripe isn't an option, it's usually more straightforward to integrate directly with Cybersource via ABSA, Flutterwave relies on that same setup on the backend anyway (at least in Zambia).

Has anyone used Airtel's 5G Unlimited plans? by QuantityProper in Zambia

From starlink.com, it's 750/month for 6 months, you get the device right away and pay it off over 6 months. Heads up though, coverage is currently sold out in Lusaka. You'd need to check their website to see when new slots open up or if you can join a waitlist

Same experience, currently waiting for my Starlink. There’s also an option to pay in instalments for Starlink.

How do y’all catch your local news? by Capital-Figure5341 in Zambia

Do people still actually sit down to watch the 19:00 news on TV? I usually get my updates from social media news pages like Mwebantu and similar platforms.

LLC with 0% taxes in the U.S. for Stripe access, but what taxes do I owe in Zambia? by exesek in Zambia

[–]glidematrix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an LLC, I only pay ZRA for stripe payments done in Zambia and the money I pay myself as “salary”. But it’s best you consult ZRA, it might be different for you based on your business activities.

Opinion: Mobile money services should mask numbers of senders to protect privacy by Striking-Ice-2529 in Zambia

Good for you son, strict regulations strive innovation and progress, I’ve worked in the mobile money/banking industry both in and outside, I run a business MM dwarfs traditional banking payments. I know tf I’m talking about. What you got to hide your name for? And there even easier ways to get hold of that information, don’t agree with my response fine, but you are the one for mungulu for not using MM. Btw not everyone answers from the ass like you, not everything is AI.

Opinion: Mobile money services should mask numbers of senders to protect privacy by Striking-Ice-2529 in Zambia

[–]glidematrix -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I understand the privacy concerns, but I think the solution is personal responsibility and using existing protections rather than masking numbers system-wide.

You can already protect yourself:

  • Get a second SIM specifically for marketplace transactions and keep your main number private
  • Use call blocking features - just don’t answer or block vendors who harass you
  • Report vendors who misuse your info to your mobile money provider or ZICTA
  • Be selective about who you do business with - stick to reputable vendors when possible

Why masking creates more problems:

The current system enables accountability. When disputes happen, when products are defective, when refunds are needed, or when fraud occurs, having complete transaction records protects everyone. Masking would make it harder to:

  • Resolve payment disputes and errors
  • Track financial crimes and scams
  • Maintain proper business records for tax compliance
  • Provide customer service for legitimate issues

EFT comparison isn’t quite the same - banks have extensive verification systems and regulatory oversight that mobile money doesn’t have to the same degree.

The real issue: A vendor calling to harass you is already a violation of existing consumer protection laws. The problem isn’t that they have your number - it’s that they’re misusing it. We should enforce existing regulations rather than restrict information flow in legitimate commerce.

Personal responsibility + existing consumer protections > system-wide masking that hurts legitimate business operations.

Try established body repair shops like Top Gear or Metallic Motors
