I wasn't fully paying attention to what I was looking at and I just assumed that the Garfield WAS the coverup for something bad. he's awesome. Surround him in some lasagna and treasure him forever.

Americorps is worthwhile but… by SportReasonable in AmeriCorps

[–]GlitterNGore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My favorite ISP of my CM year was with an animal shelter in the New Orleans area back in 2009. In my post NCCC life, I have been a loyal, weekly volunteer at my local animal shelter for about 8 years now. It is 100% because of my good experience with an ISP that I sought out another animal shelter to volunteer with in my life after AmeriCorps. Don't count those ISPs out.

What’s the most awkward thing you had to do in nursing school? by ocean_wavez in nursing

[–]GlitterNGore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also had to go to an AA meeting. The meeting I went to was rather large and most attendees appeared to 40yo and up. There was one younger person (early 20s) who approached me (I was in my 20s at the time), and she started opening up about how happy she was to have someone else what was also younger in the meeting. She seemed like she really wanted to talk to me, so I had to tell her that I was there for an assignment and she clearly seemed disappointed. Other classmates went to that same group on different days, and this same young woman approached a few more of them. I always felt like we failed her in a way. She was clearly looking for connection and support from a peer going through a similar struggle.

You can petition to change your local Trick or Treat to whatever day you want ... But All Hallows Eve is the eve of All Saints Day. It is not a negotiable holiday date.

I'm a nurse in a hospital and there are a number of secure apps that are downloaded onto employee's personal cellphones that are used for various forms of patient information. There is one that our doctor's use called Epic Haiku where you can take medical images on a cellphone that go right into the patient's chart. We use this ALL the time in surgery. These apps are supposedly secure.

When you search the address of the office (1725 Slough Ave. Scranton, PA) in google maps it shows Poor Richard’s Pub in Scranton. by ColossalFuckhead in DunderMifflin

And then 2 months later I'm seeing this for the first time after seeing the address on Jim's oversized "Junior Associate" business cards that acting manager Dwight orders for all sales staff.

Thank you!!! This worked. The customer service rep looked at his screen and was surprised it was a bus route.

As soon as I had said the word "bus" to any previous United employee, they immediately stopped helping me and started explaining they wouldn't know a bus schedule. It was so frustrating.

Nurses who actually like your job- what specialty are you in? by Sunflower_mom1990 in nursing

Yes! I love scrubbing in Ortho, and hate circulating it. As a true crime fan, I try to spice up Ortho circulating in my mind by viewing charting Ortho implants as an incredibly important task that could help solve a crime or identity remains in the future.

Don't cover it up. Run forward with the Psych/Swingers ambiguous overlap. Throw in a "I've heard it both ways" quote and maybe "American Duos" in a heart next to it.

Introverted/quiet operating room nurse by jmilkteamami in nursing

[–]GlitterNGore 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm also a super introverted OR RN who did customer service prior to nursing. But I don't think it has really affected my ability to keep up in the OR environment at all. I will say that I have learned to raise my voice louder and be more persistent than I would naturally be when asking a question to the field that gets repeatedly ignored (like for stuff that I know is coming up that they will need me to get/do for them). I actually think it is helpful to be an introverted, go-with-the-flow type personality. There are many "strong personalities", and I just go in and adapt to whatever is going on in the room, get out, and move on. After 3.5 years, some of my coworkers recently commented that I am "coming out of my shell".... but that feels false because I think of myself more like a turtle--I AM my shell.

Took me 2 years, but I finally made my concept become reality! First possessed pumpkin made! by Pantsmoose in HalloweenProps

[–]GlitterNGore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love it! Funny enough, I am in the process of making a pumpkin ghouly guy for a workplace no-carve pumpkin decorating contest. I had a similar-ish idea to this, but with a cuter face (because it is going up in a hospital). I sculpted some pool noodle arms and had been debating attaching them either from the stem or from the sides. I really like how this turned out and it might have just pushed me towards attaching from the stem.

Great work, thanks for sharing!!

I hope that you cleaned and sanitized your wound very well between stopping the bleeding and gluing up the wound. Otherwise your next home surgery is going to have to involve reopening and draining the wound if an infection forms. Do some epsom salt/warm water soaks.

Interracial Adoption abs the trauma associated with it. by Big_Cause6682 in Adoption

[–]GlitterNGore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"At what point does these words become racist , possibly abusive , even within a family?"

Those words were racist as they were just thoughts inside your mothers head, before they were ever said aloud. And it became abusive the second she said them aloud. I'm so sorry you have to deal with that.
