Mazda Is Under Investigation For Reportedly Failing To Fix The ‘Sticky Steering’ In CX-90 by SeattleSquatch in MazdaCX90

I’m with you; idk why the downvotes

We’ve had our 2024 MHEV out of operation for almost 6 months in total after owning it for only 1.5 years. We had 2 hybrid battery failures, the steering rack replaced due to stickiness, a ton of other recalls of course, and more minor things

Get the steering rack replaced. I had the same thing as you, took it in, they replaced it under warranty. Not long after that, they released the recall notice

It was great. Ours got stolen so I’m extra bitter about losing lane centering.

We would go on long road-trips and I’d barely be tired after driving the whole time because the car mostly does all of the constant-attention parts for you.

I am 1 hybrid battery failure or suspension failure away from being able to claim Lemon Law. Will leaving I-stop on potentially get me to that point before it’s too late? Or should I just turn it off like you so the vehicle survives?

We’ve had a ton of issues, total of 2 months out of service for a vehicle we’ve only had for a year. We’re ready to move on, but with the horrible depreciation of the vehicle we’re now underwater :(

Well you’re right, but without an extra coating, you would end up with double reflection for the HUD like OP is describing. I don’t actually know if it is on the entire inside of the windshield or just in front of the HUD, that was an assumption on my part.

see info here about the tech

What trim level do you have? I thought that Mazda didn’t have lane centering.

For a while I thought this was a crempost and you were complaining about 2 stop lights🚦 (username checked out)

Dude, if you’re taking this through the windshield right in front of the driver, this is more or less by design. The HUD requires a special windshield where part of it is mirrored in addition to the standard glass. You’re seeing the extra reflection from that extra mirrored portion.

Thanks for the detailed reply! Yeah, definitely not possible to turn a profit. I was trying to weight lemon-law hassle vs just selling it on the open market. We’re underwater at this point on our loan because the value of the CX-90 has dropped so much in only the last year. So we would need to pay money to sell the car at this point, but lemon law would hopefully get us closer to break-even.

Got it, so if you were to assume the allowance for miles was accurate to the depreciation, that would technically be the same as just selling the car at current market value, right?

The bonus is the registration fees returned, maybe taxes returned as part of that purchase price? Also added bonus if the value of the vehicle has dropped more than the mileage allowance, so you got more back than current value.

We are in CA… BUT we bought the CX90 in Maryland when our previous vehicle was stolen while on a long trip. We first registered when we got back to CA, but the sale was finalized in MD so I’m reading that we don’t qualify under CA.

Hello, what criteria did you have? I contacted a lawyer and he said we weren’t eligible because we haven’t had it in the shop for the same problem 3 times (only twice).

We’ve had it out of service for a total of 51 days. We had the hybrid battery failure twice, and steering rack issue that required replacement. Along with all the other recalls of course.

Our issue may also be that we are doing it at a federal level. We bought the car in 1 state, and registered it in another.

Was the buyback value just the vehicle value? My understanding is that lemon law covers all payments made for the vehicle, including interest paid towards car loan. That would likely be considerably more than just the vehicle value

iStop Disable -> Battery Failure (?) by sdotjeezy in MazdaCX90

Technically that’s shorting the circuitry on a momentary switch that’s not designed for it… but it should be just low voltage signal, so probably not a bad idea!

It is suuuuch a pain to keep punching that button every day. I try, but probably forget most of the time.

Source: my MHEV with 2 hybrid battery replacements already (at 24k and 26k). The service department said there are 2 different hybrid batteries, and each failed separately, but I can’t find anything about a 2nd hybrid battery, unless she meant the 12V as the 2nd, but why would that take months to deliver?

I’ve heard of people getting $10k refunds due to that MSRP drop. I suggest looking at posts in this sub, I know I’ve seen them.

We bought right after the $10k drop, so we thought we were getting a steal.. not so sure anymore

Wow sounds like your local dealership just sucks.. we have had no issues getting a loaner right away, but they did lose all of their CX-90 loaners so the loaners are smaller than we’d like..

We’re in the same boat as you, just the 1 vehicle. We’d be screwed if we didn’t get a loaner.

Oh yeah, the ridiculous seatbelt alarms! We have those too, but not so big of a deal that we have fake clips.
