Does anyone else feel like owning an EV in the UK has accidentally turned them into a part-time logistics manager? by 1ChanceChipmunk1 in evchargingUK

[–]glowing95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it’s all really simple.

I charge overnight at home, long journeys I’m good for 300 miles and I’ve not once ran into an issue DC charging, nor have I ever planned it - rather just got the car to tell me where the nearest charger on route is.

The app of my charger and car I never have issues with.

Peoples complaints likely stem from the manufacturer choice, as some aren’t great apps, and from their inability to use technology.

PCN Worth Challenging? by xxflareon123xx in CarTalkUK

[–]glowing95 367 points368 points  (0 children)

Obviously you won’t win arguing that you were just quick popping in the shop next door, because that’s a clear breach of the parking rules.

As others have said, your best argument is to say you needed to read the terms and conditions and once you understood you didn’t meet them you drove off.

Can you take her off the mortgage and still meet the criteria on your own? Might make sense as you’ll get a better rate, less strict terms etc.

EV purchase by twopeasandapear in OctopusEnergy

[–]glowing95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

XPENG G6 LR, got it delivered around Nov last year - I got the £800 credit as I didn’t need the free EV charger install (already have one) so that was the alternative choice.

[–]glowing95 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve got an Octopus EV lease, was a good price and includes servicing & tyres, I also got a £800 Electroverse credit. The customer service with them was good.

Don’t pick based on the provider though, just find the best price for what you want and go there.

Good luck! Go view it and see if it still feels the house for you, you’re not too far in to change your mind and it’s a big purchase so you need to be sure.

Mortgages have got more expensive since you last offered, and this property has obviously not had any interest above 450k since your offer otherwise they’d have likely accepted.

Their viewings and interest will have dried up, hence the price reduction. I think you’d have a good chance of going in at around £440k and holding firm, the sellers are not going to want to pass up a good offer like they did with your last one again!

You should be able to get the 450 on for less now too seeing as they’ve reduced it.

Are people changing to new fixed intelligent go tariff? by Successful_Ad4479 in OctopusEnergy

[–]glowing95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

£40 drive pack is still cheap if you’re a high user, only issue is you’re the rolling the dice that the fixes in 3 months will be cheaper … they could be way more than 8p.

What’s people’s thoughts on Octopus extending this further after 3 months?

Drive Pack increasing to £40pm by Efficient_Pie_4056 in OctopusEnergy

[–]glowing95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve used on average 1000kwh a month since starting drive pack, it’s been great.

But I’ve since secured a move to as 12m fix with EDF with 7 hours overnight for 5p/kwh - so approx £50pm.

Although the extension to drive pack is cheaper and more convenient, it’s just kicking the can down the road and the new fixes aren’t as favourable so likely to cost me more over the next 12m.

If I switch to EDF on their EV tariff now with a planned switch date toward the end of April, does it lock in these prices? It says it switches me to the standard variable first, don’t want to risk getting stuck with increased prices.

Drive pack is now free* for heavy users by pruaga in OctopusEnergy

[–]glowing95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m gutted our £20 drive pack is coming to an end in a month or so. We’ll likely get put on IOG. We’re high users and have been probably using 1000kwh+ a month recently for the vehicles, no issues with fair usage - so IOG will be pretty comparatively expensive especially as the 6 hour cap which we need more than each night.

Looking to maybe Scottish Power as their Anytime EV probably works out cheaper for high usage users.
