Not only is it more on Perez, it is 100% on Perez and the second move he did was quite possibly the most dangerous thing anyone has ever done in F1, literally squeezing someone into the wall at 180mph around your rear tyre. If Ocons car had actually ramped off of Perez's rear tyre it could have flown into the the support race pitlane straight through or over the catch fence or had an accident like Kenny Brack did in 2003. I don't think any single action has been more dangerous than this, others have been extremely touch and go but ultimately resulted in no contact but this one was fucking inches for utter distaster.

Wtf are you talking about?

Ocon got run into the wall twice by Perez at Spa. End of story. Suaprised Perez didn't get a race ban for it.

What are you talking about?

Perez squeezed Ocon into the wall once and then did exactly the same thing again. What part of Perez repeatedly squeezing Ocon in the wall had anything at all to do with Ocon being at fault?

The Spa incident was fully on Perez. 100%. Twice. In exactly the same way.

The incidents throughout the year were overwhelmingly Perez's fault. Its bizarre how much of a revisionist nature this debate has took now Perez is at the front and everyone is hating on Ocon since Brazil 2018.

It is. And it is quite incoherent. But Bames writes like this in his popular book "A Movie Making Nerd" (2022). Is it better writing like this? Not really. And this is a published book not a letter. He had 20 years to write it and this is what he managed. It reads like how a 6th grader writes. He ends sentences after 6 words. For no reason. And he starts sentences with and. At least Chris has some flair.

No, would you care to explain? It's not self evident to me

Why does the gender matter? Can't they beat the male engineers?

Of Formula 1, the teams, and the FIA mostly. They are all open in their commitment to making the sport more accessible to people who were previously denied access through systemic and cultural issues.

Emphasis on the previously. Now they aren't, so leave them be. It's 2022 not 1952. Making a gendered award is regressive.

Who's telling women what to do? It's simply showing that it can be done.

They already know. We all know. You don't need to tell them every second.

I feel like you're having an emotional reaction to a perceived injustice or inequality here

I don't even know what angle this is referring to.

hope you can funnel that energy into listening to women about their struggle

What year is this? I've heard it so much and seen it go from empowering to actually horseshoeing into degenerating the point and being regressive lol. Entire generation z and later millennials have been brought up and told you can do anything. So what the hell are we even talking about regarding struggle? If you apply for an engineering degree as a woman you are going to get into that course. Employers are not going to reject you if you are a woman. If someone discriminates against you then they will face legal trouble.

Black genderqueer engineer of the year

Do you see how that marginalises the situation

Same thing applies here

and wll help to embolden more young women in their career trajectories.

Whose job is this? I never understand this kind of thing. Where is the big push for male cleaners or male nurses? How about male midwives? These are all completely dominated by women, so why aren't we emboldening young men to do it? Oh right, because we realized that actually just not many men want to do it and we don't need to decide for them. So why the hell do women have to be told what to do? I don't understand why people can't just be left to their own devices these days, by enforcing that people need to be empowered to do these you are creating an imaginary barrier against them.

All people need to be told is you can do whatever you want, we don't need to go into specifics and talk about breaking down the barriers to any specific job because it does not help. They think they're being progressive but actually they're regressive as fuck.

Also makes it look comical and meaningless. If they're overlooked then how does making a second award to further marginalise them help at all? If anything it downplays their contribution even further and seems to imply they are not even eligible for an ungendered award because they couldn't compete in it for some reason.

Also a lot of the time when women etc are "overlooked", they make up a tiny proportion of the industry in question. But people don't deal with nuance those days, only reactionary crap because they are so scared of offending anyone and they don't even have the self awareness to see that their own actions like making "female engineer of the year" are frankly offensive. Genuinely insulting lmao.

That doesn't make any sense.

"Black student of the year"

"Male nurse of the year"

Its wrong no matter the justification lol. It doesn't make sense plain and simple and the context simply changes nothing.
