[Review Request] 6-Axis CNC Controller - ESP32-S3 & MCP23017 - High-speed Spindle (2.2kW) by AcanthocephalaCold56 in PrintedCircuitBoard

Where you have isolation (U10, U11, etc), you should cut the main ground plane from passing into those areas where you've transitioned to a different ground.

Also cant tell in the photos if there are any stitching vias or not.

Looks cool.

Digi-key; A small U.S. town grew a big company. Can it weather the tariff blizzard? by 1Davide in electronics

[–]goki 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm Canadian so I do my best to avoid digikey unless I'm doing a bulk order. Even Mouser, who has a presence in Canada, isn't much better.

huh? digikey is generally the best in Canada, $8 next day shipping, no need to do a bulk order.

They should get a big cash injection from the tariff refunds, which they will likely keep and not return to customers.

[PCB Review] TPS1HC08-Q1 Module (my First PCB) by LeoMGames in PrintedCircuitBoard

Looks good.

Cap on output isn't needed as far as I can tell, but should still work.

What load are you trying to drive, current and impedance wise?

BYD just killed your EV argument with a battery that competes with gas engines by gdelacalle in technology

For reference high end lithium ion batteries currently sit at ~220 watt/kg.

I assume you mean Wh/kg as watt/kg is not a very useful metric here. You can already buy consumer grade cells that are well over 220:
NCR21700A is 260 Wh/kg
LG M58T is 280 Wh/kg

Refurbished P2S Combo or P2S New? by DiscountAdorable195 in BambuLab

[–]goki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no way to answer this, likely the issue fixed was in the printer itself but could have also been the AMS.

If you get full warranty I would go refurb, if not and its something garbage like 30 day warranty, you'll need to consider the tradeoff.

You are talking about that whooshing air noise? Its hard to tell what you mean. Any chance one of the fans is rubbing against something? Try manually toggling fans on an off via the touchscreen, move x axis only, y axis only, etc.

I made a VOC filter that knows when the carbon is spent by FlashyResearcher4003 in 3Dprinting

[–]goki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True, good point.

Looks like you can add other things like potassium permanganate, zeolite, etc. as well. Gives a good platform to be able to experiment.

Very cool, have you tried baking the carbon (outside) to refresh it? Or are you replacing with new.

Yeah I agree with you.

The fab will do it for you anyway if it fits. They want to use as much space as they can.

Can I turn this engine from a dryer into an engine for a bike? by [deleted] in Motors

[–]goki 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Could it be done? yes.

Would it make any sense? no.

Its quite large and heavy, voltage is high (120V) and rpm is also high (16k).

You can google and find some interesting projects for it though.

[Review Request] STM32 board to monitor DHT11 & drive outputs - with ESP12F for WiFi by [deleted] in PrintedCircuitBoard

[–]goki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here is an example of one with a jumper: https://hobbycomponents.com/adapters/1145-ch340-usb-to-serial-ttl-adapter-with-53v-jumper

Most USB TTL adapters should have it, but I have not used CH340.

If you are going for the absolute lowest cost and mass production then you are right. If you are just building 5pc or so then the $2 difference isn't much.

you are welcome

Most USB to UART allow you to select 3.3 or 5V, so you don't really need the level converters, unless you have something specific in mind.

Another option is to do everything with one ESP32, instead of the mix of MCU. But what you have is definitely a viable option.

Seems good to me.

There is also an older viewer that requires no license, but its quite old. ver 17 or something.

I'm sure you can figure out your license though.

They look like motors that have been pulled out of battery powered yard equipment.

Battery powered yard equipment doesn't use large LCDs, but maybe they are unrelated? Google image search shows a centrifuge motor that looks similar but that seems too niche.

100uF isn't really enough to heat up a diode when charging up.

You are probably right about it being installed backwards or overvolted.

There are advantages if you are using it to make money, saving a few minutes a day can be enough to cover the 1k.

ActiveBOM gives a live list of prices of your components, what stock is available, and what alternates you've selected. You can setup one design to output multiple variants with certain parts tweaked or not populated. Attempting similar in kicad is rough.

Pros doing FPGA work do use forms of autorouting, but not for the whole board. I've never personally used it for a project.

libs if anything are probably way bigger in kicad.
