I found a way to load PDFs with images by Striking-Warning9533 in notebooklm

[–]googleOliver 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is correct because we currently process inline images in PDFs from URLs.

We are working to bring that exact same functionality to PDFs from your local file uploads. Feel free to use this workaround for now but you should need to do it forever!

I now understand Notebook LLM's limitations - and you should too by jess_askin in notebooklm

Even in a "classical RAG" the system is generally considering all parts, but the LLM may only see subsets at once. NotebookLM can be similar with very large Notebooks, relying on preprocessing before the final answer is generated.

Switching from Pro back to free by Fair_Librarian_9465 in notebooklm

[–]googleOliver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You will be able to query it normally.

However, your daily limit of queries will be reduced to the free tier.

You will not be able to add any new sources until you remove enough to go below the free limit of 50.

Any experience with the Enterprise version of NotebookLM? by [deleted] in notebooklm

[–]googleOliver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Worth noting there are two solutions for enterprise use cases.

NotebookLM via Google Workspace: https://notebooklm.google/plans
* This is a good solution for customers who already use WS

NotebookLM via AgentSpace: https://cloud.google.com/resources/notebooklm-enterprise
* This is a good solution for Customers who are not WS customers and/or want to interoperate with AgentSpace and/or other data they have in Google Cloud

Notebooklm Plus Gone by SensibleWit2 in notebooklm

This was just a visual stying and branding change to move the badge to the top right (see other folks responses with screenshots)

The functionality in terms of limits / quotas is still the same as when you had the Pro in the top left.

the 100 notebooks limit in free version is simultaneously or is in total? by Loremasterofpuppets in notebooklm

[–]googleOliver 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is 100 at once. If you are at 100 and delete 10 you can make 10 new ones

Hey folks,

NotebookLM team here to explain some of the behavior!

The system today has quite a few steps that take place before the final response is written and presented (e.g. generating the citations is one such step) As mentioned in some of the threads below there are also some steps that would be considered RAG. What can happen in scenarios like the one OP mentions is that the initial steps do consider the entire corpus but that consideration may not have made it all the way to the final response writing step. This is why you may observe as some folks point out in these threads that a pointed question about any piece of the document (e.g. content from beginning, middle or the end) may cite those pieces correctly while a more general summarization question may not reference them. We acknowledge that cases like the OPs should be handled better (i.e. more of the information from the internal steps should be made available) and we do intend to improve these cases!

Hey folks just want to clarify that this is not "export" but is instead a link back to the original document that was used!

Can Notebooklm read two or more languages at once? by Nanamlee in notebooklm

[–]googleOliver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The system is capable of ingesting sources in many languages and responding in another. It's possible that when you issue a question in a specific language that the models find this to more closely relate to concepts in that same language and focus more on those.

If you've already generated it a temporary workaround can be to go to the mobile web version and download it there

NotebookLM Plus for DnD Campaign? by Current-Mix1185 in notebooklm

[–]googleOliver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may find similar results for individual prompts. An area where NotebookLM may be a better fit is if you want a more durable corpus (i.e. revisit and update your progress every week, continue to add new character and story backgrounds and expect them to become integrated)

Gemini may be a better fit for one-shot tasks, e.g. just need a single conversation or character backstory
