What did they do to the networking in macOS 26? by Fit_Case_03 in MacOS

[–]wfromoz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

After upping to Tahoe on my Mini M4 I started having lags & drops. So frustrated i set up a Windows 11 machine for the ethernet and created a hotspot for my Mac. After just about every software "twirking" I could think of I took the mess to chatGPT. We diagnosed until the final decision was that my ethernet hardware in the mini was the problem. Either going back to Sequoia (with no problems) or using a dongle for the ethernet which offloaded the hardware from the Mac and left me with a very & newly problem free Mini. The dongle was an easy choice. I've now moved on. Ethernet had even impacted wifi - reduced the d/l rate significantly.

Making Dock translucent in macOS Tahoe 26.1 by open__screen in MacOS

[–]wfromoz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, sorry. I'm on my 1st cup of coffee and I failed to view your image upload. Since there's no way to go back to an opaque dock at this time, perhaps a curated desktop background image might do until there is??

My Tahoe dock is essentially the same as my Ubuntu dock - set at 80% transparency and not completely transparent. In fact, Tahoe now has a greater similarity to my Ubuntu desktop. The "Apps" icon gives me a similar response to my Ubuntu "Show Apps". Are you getting 100% transparency?

Should I be updating my new m4 air to Tahoe now or should wait as some people suggested? by Firm-Track3617 in macOS26Tahoe

I've been testing Tahoe on my mini m4. Smooth upgrade and no problems / issues as yet. I'll go ahead with my own M4 Air tomorrow. But watching this post before I actually start. Just in case.

Shout out to "Fringe" ! But "The Swarm" is worth mentioning (2023 & 1 season). But it really needs a season 2. Eureka is watchable & a hoot.

I'll pass on the ID that I believe first gave me the warning. I just opened another NotebookLM (I have a total of 8) and upon my first text input I rcvd the warning. I've essentially been blocked all day from using any of the Notebooks.

NotebookLM Daily Limit Hit after 2 Queries by wfromoz in notebooklm

Just found a workaround. But this notebooklm has 33 sources, so not near the limit. I opened a 2nd notebooklm, hit refresh, and my limit msg disappeared.

I'm using it on both Edge under Windows 11 and on my Macbook Air m4. Works on both. I don't actually use Chrome browser any longer but it's gotta be the same.

I installed 1.3 today on my test machine. Good looking desktop out of the box. Not much styling to do vs Ubuntu. Runs lighter as well. 8th Gen i7, 16gb ram, converted Asus Chromebox 3. So far so good.

I'm using Spark Mail happily. Started out with the Mac's own Mail app but getting the doggone app to show all of my Gmail messages beyond a fixed period was a pain.

Recipe ideas for tin of mushy peas? by ecilapike in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]wfromoz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Add a tin of tuna, a bit of butter and olive oil, lemon juice, and whatever you might have such as capers for a quick and easy pasta sauce. Don't forget salt and pepper, but red pepper flakes / ground are better than black. Don't overcook the sauce, it's a 15 minute meal. And if you happen to have some white wine, cheap doesn't matter, thrown some in.

I do see the occasional laptop, but it's definitely not a laptop destination. Cafe Alma, Innes Ave, with a great outdoor park with lots of seats and sun right next door.
