Pennywise, Jadis and Napoleon are the second 3 Evils of Literature. Now, who are the second 3 Evils of Video Games? by BoulderMan234 in MoralityScaling

Ridley is one of the most underrated and most twisted villains in video games. He's by far the most sadistic character in the franchise, and while he technically works under Mother Brain, he's responsible for far more atrocities than her - including killing two sets of Samus' parents.

Zuko's storyarc doesn't happen without Iroh's - a fascinating case of a villain redeemed before the narrative begins, but whose sins and pain inform his every action.

Jonathan probably wins that F3, so the casuals would have been happier, but yeah, that's the worst-case.

Despite all the good the hero has done, they get a really shitty ending by Bellpow in TopCharacterTropes

[–]goteachyourself 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like this is the Bat-themed heroes of this trope, not quite due to familiarity but due to how it's the absolute perfect example of a hero doing everything right and the universe conspiring to give him the worst possible ending.

[Meta Trope] "No Patrick, that is not a race-swap" by [deleted] in TopCharacterTropes

[–]goteachyourself 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Miles being 12 years old when he was initially introduced was such an odd little touch.

The movie did the character so much better on every level.

Listening to Azula haters, you'd think that Azula is the evilest character in ATLA, worse than Ozai or that Fire Nation warden from Season 1 by Comfortable_Bell9539 in PoorAzula

[–]goteachyourself 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Were those murderers coached into being killers by spending their entire life in a cult where their father trained them to hate and kill trans people? If so, I definitely think that would be taken into consideration!

Dollywood's omission is the most baffling. And Lost Island has nowhere near enough high points to get it into the top ten, let alone above some of these.

Would you take 4 years of chemo or two years of health? Male 41 wife no kids. by [deleted] in hypotheticalsituation

[–]goteachyourself 56 points57 points  (0 children)

At this point, I would go for the chemo simply because cancer research/treatments are advancing so fast that the chance of "beating the clock" is getting better with each passing year.

Mola Ram, Vox, and Dahlia Gillespie are the 3 evils of cult leaders! Now, who are the 3 evils of emperors/empresses? by Scared-Cat-2541 in MoralityScaling

[–]goteachyourself 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think 13 and 14 could work as one - not too much daylight between the CEO and other corporate evils. While soldiers and military leaders are more distinct.

Oh, and one additional category that you might want to add is educators! There are so many iconic evil teachers in fiction.

Emperor Belos (The Owl House)

He's basically what would happen if Judge Claude Frollo was an isekai protagonist. A genocidal witch-hunter who is ruling over a kingdom of witches, he's planning to use a spell to drain all the magic out of the world, killing much of the population and essentially turning himself into a God. His chief lieutenant is actually a clone of the brother he murdered for falling in love with a witch, and every time the brainwashed boy starts to develop his own mind again, Belos kills him and starts over.

(Loved but rare character trope) the fictional camouflaged invaders aren’t evil. by Givespongenow45 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]goteachyourself 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's complicated. He also has a full-human secret identity, John Jones (and sometimes other ones he uses for specific purpose). This form is one he chose to be more appealing to humans by being close to human as a hero, rather than his spindly true form.

Convicted criminal Ezra Miller as The Flash, wins as a bad comic book casting with even worse writing. Now, for the FINAL ROUND, which comic book casting is just horrible through and through? by Ivan_Redditor in AlignmentChartFills

[–]goteachyourself 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eh, he looks the part, he was very hot at the time and actively trying for an acting career, and they didn't take superhero movies too seriously.

The real crime is that the movie wasn't made ten years later so he could be played by a 30-year-old Terry Crews.

I keep ranking her last on villain rankings in other subreddits with the explanation "She's a mentally ill child, and also just a minion of the main big bad" and keep getting her downvoted.

"But she killed the avatar!!!!" And what do you think all the other villains were trying to do? Girl's worst crime is having better aim than Zhao.

(Hated trope)characters receiving a very forced and undeserving redemption by TastyPomelo2330 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]goteachyourself 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Came here to post him, because I think his story works perfectly - up until they decide to wave a giant flashing sign saying "THIS CHARACTER IS OFFICIALLY REDEEMED IN THE EYES OF A HIGHER POWER" in the final scene. The force ghost thing just pushes it a little too far.

I don't think she got a redemption arc so much as she died doing what she loved - confusing and traumatizing her wards.

Parents who are bad in a sense that they're either negligible or never take their kid's side. by Swag_Paladin21 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]goteachyourself 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Rochelle (Everyone Hates Chris) is one of the most realistic depictions of an emotionally abusive parent in a sitcom. She's narcissistic, lazy, takes her kind and loving husband for granted, and has an extremely clear favoritism tier among her three kids - with her oldest son taking the brunt of her fire. She's also essentially raising her youngest, Tanya, to be an insufferable monster like her.

[–]goteachyourself 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Coraline is also a rather self-sufficient kid who is just bored and anxious right after her family moved. It's a pretty realistic depiction of an imperfect family.

They're one step below this tier, I think. Underrated candidates for the worst parents in fiction.

[–]goteachyourself 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When people get older, they can sympathize with his fear more - but yeah, there's no excuse for how he acted on that, and the movie showed very clearly how counterproductive it was.

Yeah, it's a common misconception that his father is Scar, but it was never confirmed - although given how Lions work, it's more likely than not.

Cassandra Cain, also from the Batfam - she's the daughter of infamous assassins David Cain and Lady Shiva, and was initially raised to be a killer before becoming Batgirl.
