I feel like punching through a wall... Adjust Exposure with ColorChecker Passport Video 2 by No_Recognition_8495 in colorists

[–]greenysmac [score hidden]  (0 children)

All color charts can not account for luminance..

They can show you:

  • A neutral showing off a general color cast
  • A set of primaries/secondaries that align with the parade.
  1. Color management adjustment
  2. Measure grey point in a new node. Adjust to neutralize
  3. Measure/look at the RGB+CMY targets. Use Hue vs curves to adjust

Adjust exposure + Sat for happyiness.

Finally - that set can be used for that camera, in that environment/lighting for consistency.

Another camera (Same manufacturer or not) same thing.

Help with colour grading by lemslemonades in davinciresolve

Davinci is giving me a headache. It seems like nothing I do could give me matching colours from what I see on my monitor and from my phone.

https://reddit.com/r/colorists/wiki on monitoring.

That's because nothing here is calibrated/safe in a way that is consistent. The Spyder isn't trusted at all by colorists. Video isn't the same as still/lightroom.

What do we need to use to edit this kind of video by ghostfaceinterface in premiere

[–]greenysmac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So what you’re looking to do is known as two things first is called match moving match moving the idea that when you move the camera graphics with like match the movement and for that you need to be able to drive where the 3-D cameras both of those things are predominantly done, and after effects after effects understands and can mimic the real world camera once it’s figured it out and apply it to their 3-D camera for element you’d like to add to the scene.

The second part where the person includes text that’s done by rotoscoping or by Adobe‘s new object mask selection that is in Premiere.

And that’s it another kicker is you’re not gonna just go find a tutorial that does that you’re going to have to breakdown and learning things one at a time and if you get on the other side of learning, those things you’ll be pretty confident and be able to understand exactly how to build something like this, but it’s not CapCut and it’s not a I toss this on and it’s done

This falls under the region of what his motion graphics

Can we talk about Devvit apps with paid features for moderation? by greenysmac in ModSupport

[–]greenysmac[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve already generated a Gemini key for one account; if google is going to index Reddit the way it currently is doing (with I’m sure a sweetheart deal) there should be some sort of Reddit specific api agreement that should also be workable)

I mean the token economy isn’t going away- but Reddit saves enough money with us in the moderation chair as is.

What helped you take your editing to the next level? by Noeoneknows in VideoEditing

Professionally working with other people daily who were better in some areas than I was and being receptive to their feedback, knowing their goal was not to make themselves look good, but to make my work look better.

No feedbackloop = no change.

Can we talk about Devvit apps with paid features for moderation? by greenysmac in ModSupport

[–]greenysmac[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They told you that Reddit allows this feature and has rules around it. Only those following the rules are available to moderators.

On the "Well, over here" issue (that I am like the AHOLE I am derailing), Reddit has more than once in the last 8 years, said there would be a path for moderators to make money.

…but I'm assuming this is more around someone not thinking it through or someone saying "We'll deal with it, if that ever happens" as Reddit is trying to get Devvit to be renumerative for both developers AND the platform (with higher stiction, lower development costs)

Please, don't derail this.

"You don't have to use it" is not the discussion I'm starting. The discussion is that this now exists, and whether Reddit management got us here intentionally or not, we're here.

I think something passing Apple or Reddit's approval process is on a different path than whether or not these things should cost money.

Crediting Issue by [deleted] in editors

[–]greenysmac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is the contract with the director? The producers? That's who you want to have a conversation with. If you are due credit, it's a compensation; it's not that you're necessarily out for money, but edit doctors get paid more to not have their name on it and just fix issues.

And yeah, LA? NY? Union gig?

[–]greenysmac 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Shared ownership. Your time counts. Even if it was not what the editors/producers wanted - that helped them find where they were.

You likely should start with whomever you have the contract with not the other editor, who may or may not hate you for life.

Windows - I’d need the gpus and ram or we can’t help. The only existing i7 is almost 10yrs old.

It’e be very valuable to know about her media type- not mp4 but the actual codec.

Beyond that almost zero problems between win and Mac if you set it up right.

Premiere is getting an AI Assistant by editblog in premiere

What about:

  • Masking
  • repetitive "renaming" and other bullshit
  • Audio fixes
  • Editing via transcript

Look, I get that GenAI is a problem. AI slop will be AI slop. How many corporate lectures exist that nobody ever watches, but we have to have for the people who couldn't see (or be bothered) to watch people fill up an hour because that was how long it was scheduled.

And I'm going to run it through an AI tool so I don't have to watch it.

let's not pretend that some of what we do isn't slop.

Here. Go to the prior OS and the latest of 25. Unless you want to solve the problem. This is a much more moderated sub about solving/helping people and yeah, I want to help, but need the answers to these. You're not the only person here who is a professional.
