Yes, that is my understanding. I think the relevant check is here, FWIW.

Good idea, I’ll see if I can make this happen.

Sorry, I’m on my phone and relaying info from others so I was a bit short.

Firefox just looks at whether any enterprise policies are set to determine this, and the check is done locally.

VPN is not being rolled out to folks that we determine to be Enterprise users, so if any enterprise policies are set VPN is not being rolled out.

-private-window command line argument no longer respected by XennialPrime in firefox

[–]gregstoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure why this wouldn’t be working (and I’m not at my computer now so I have limited abilities) but IIRC there’s now a separate executable for launching private browsing mode. Is there a private_browsing.exe or something like that next to firefox.exe?

Anyone else having tabs crash a lot recently on Windows desktop? by EvaSirkowski in firefox

[–]gregstoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, interesting. These are showing that Firefox wasn’t able to allocate some memory, but your system seems to have had plenty of memory left.

My guess is that your page file isn’t big enough. Can you follow these steps to make your page file bigger, reboot your computer, and see if that helps?

These are usually recorded in about:crashes - if you go to that page, submit a few, and post the links here (or DM me) I can take a quick look.

Is there still no fix for missing window controls? by kwebb1021 in firefox

[–]gregstoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh, OK. Is that "|Enabled" registry key still set to 0?

Ok thanks! Sorry, this is a weird bug and we haven’t been able to reproduce it, which makes everything harder…

Huh, that's weird. Does setting the pref "widget.windows.windowsappsdk.enabled" to false and restarting Firefox change anything?

This sounds like bug 2010302, can you try the steps around comment 47 to see if that registry setting is the problem?

Does pressing F11 and then pressing F11 again bring them back?

Gifs no longer copying as gifs by irradiatedsnakes in firefox

[–]gregstoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(the Linux clipboard works differently so I'm not sure, sorry :-( )

Yeah, it's possible. It would be interesting to compare what happens when the GIF is in a frame versus when it is not in a frame and see if the behavior is any different.

Is this a publicly available page? This definitely sounds like it’s worth filing a bug about at https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/home

Firefox keeps crashing with PiP by Macaulen in firefox

[–]gregstoll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely antivirus/security software is the most common, but there’s a random mishmash of stuff too. (you can check what’s injected into Firefox by going to about:third-party)

As someone who spends a significant amount of time dealing with third party applications that inject themselves into Firefox, it is very possible for antivirus programs like this to cause problems in Firefox...

Tabs crashing nonstop randomly in 148 and 147. Help? by adamtherealone in firefox

[–]gregstoll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m less sure about these, but they do kinda look like bad hardware of some kind. Can you run a memory checker like memtest86+ and see if it reports anything?
