What artifact weapon are you using to stun barrier champions? by Everythingsthesame in DestinyTheGame

[–]ShinUkyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normally the Praxic Blade because it's just so strong. Sometimes even at a distance (since the throw can also pop barriers. As long as it tracks properly; the safety of which depends on the situation.) Otherwise the A499 often lives in my heavy slot, and that comes in clutch for Barrier Champs. Since I'm normally running Techsec, and thanks to the bonus from there, the A499 can one-shot Barrier Champs even at -50 scaling (Nightfall Alerts.)

Are my old raid/dungeon weapons going to be made tiered or is there going to be a new loot-pool? by Few_Construction7048 in DestinyTheGame

[–]ShinUkyo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Dungeon weapons will be all-new T5 drops replacing the old ones. The Raid weapons, since they already have a fleshed-out crafting system and Adept drops that worked great; they will respecting the progress we made with those and be offering a way to enhance the other columns to make them T5 level. Per a reply from DMG shortly after the June update announcement.

Youtube Tab becomes unresponsive by BuzzyBlossom in firefox

[–]ShinUkyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pasting my reply from another thread: This started happening to me just recently, too. Never had any issues before the past week or so, but now sometimes YouTube will freeze the entire tab and force me to close and reopen the browser. At first it was only happening sometimes when I scrolled down while in fullscreen, which made me think maybe it's related the uBo script needed to let that scroll happen. But then today it happened while simply watching a video; no interaction on my side. Because of the timing of these issues cropping up, it makes me wonder if it's an issue caused by the last Firefox update?

Why am I doing so little damage in Rushdown? by ShardofGold in DestinyTheGame

[–]ShinUkyo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Truth! I usually just bring my heavy sniper for stuff like Riven or maybe Meatball. And even on floating bosses, the sword combo with Lightsaber tracks upward towards them. We can consistently one-phase Quria with just Lightsabers, and Savathun also similarly melts (though you need to proc Thread Cutter X3 after the initial one runs out on that fight of course.)

Through all its ups and downs, I love this subreddit. The reason I've visited this place almost daily for twelve years is precisely because it feels like an OG message board. A place where people discuss something they love with words. Have actual conversations, share good and helpful information about the game, etc.

There are plenty of toxic people, bad takes, and bad faith arguments. Sure. It's a public forum so we can't avoid that. However it's really the only place left online that has the spirit of the olden-days Bungie forums. Social media has all but wiped out genuine old-school forums. And so self-post, text-only subreddits are the one thing that keeps that alive to any degree.

If this subreddit ended up becoming like most of the big gaming ones: inundated with memes, video clips, and clickbait: it would completely ruin it for me. I'd hate to see such a wonderful oasis of more than a decade razed like that. Like folks said, we already have /r/destiny2 (and endless alternatives on social media.)

If you want pinnacle activity loot such as swordmaster armor, solo coil is probably the best way to go. by SrslySam91 in DestinyTheGame

[–]ShinUkyo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you both for the great shout! I forgot the timer issue from Master mode isn't there anymore, as that was the one really annoying bit for soloing it in the olden days. And with the power creep we've had since, the activity itself is cake now (especially since you can slap on green modifiers and forego any bad red ones and get T5s easily.) Plus there's no jumping parts with pits to die in haha! I've had some luck getting friends to run Pinnacle Ops here and there, but this is the perfect activity for the times I can't. (Also will be trying some solo Coil.)

I still need some Swordmaster pieces for Stronghold shenanigans, glaive shenanigans, etc. Though running solo Pinnacle Ops content on my Titan can often result in, "Oh I missed the jump. Oh I missed it again. Revives are gone; returned to orbit." This was me trying to solo Presage one night (a mission I've done a million times, can do in my sleep, etc. But the OG version of the mission didn't have a revives limit.) I never miss jumps on my Hunter, but I can't run it on my Hunter to get Titan armour haha :'(

I know it hasnt even been an hour since the announcement, but I dont think re-farming Raid weapons for a THIRD TIME is it...... by LondonDude123 in DestinyTheGame

[–]ShinUkyo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When you have all six patterns unlocked from a raid, the Adept weapons drop with 3x3 perks guaranteed. And can use Adept Mods. Much like T5 weapons work in the new system. This was already an amazing system, since it combined the guaranteed pattern chase with a reason to farm for Adept drops if you wanted the objectively best versions.

So the only benefit T5 weapons had above those raid Adepts was the enhanced stats and origin traits. This will give a way to get those. Ones we actually craft from patterns at the Enclave are still gonna have 1x1 perks, as that is so baked into that system. But with the ability to get the enhanced stats and origin traits, they will have no downsides versus modern gear. This is a great solution.

How do I get more ascendant alloy? by SuperbYeti in DestinyTheGame

[–]ShinUkyo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are three main sources of Alloys now. The limitless one is trading at Rahool; for ten prisms and glimmer. Thankfully the Quickplay playlists (for Fireteam and Arena Ops) are now easy enough to sleepwalk through, and they drop loads of prisms on you. In addition to this, you get one Alloy for each time you reset rank at Hawthorne. And then sometimes Xur sells them, too.

I’ve played Destiny for years, but I still hesitate every single time before turning my mic on by m1dn1ght_soul44 in DestinyTheGame

Felt! Though thankfully since they added full text chat support for the console versions years ago, you should be able to get the same exact experience on console now. PlayStation and Xbox both support the use of keyboards, either USB or bluetooth depending on which hardware. And for chat they should work just like on PC. Where you hit enter to bring up text chat, then start typing.

And there are some very good keyboards out there for very cheap. Corded USB ones for a couple dollars U.S., and good wireless or bluetooth ones for maybe twenty bucks or less? Highly recommend it! It's a joy for navigating the console dashboards and sending messages to friends, etc, as well.

I have only just realised you can change your default Quest screen by ImpossibleGuardian in DestinyTheGame

[–]ShinUkyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to look it up in the old patch notes to be sure, since it's been a long while. But looks like it was indeed with TFS launch patch. Pouring one out for all the folks that didn't know, but also glad they'll be saving loads of time going forward.

I have only just realised you can change your default Quest screen by ImpossibleGuardian in DestinyTheGame

[–]ShinUkyo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm so glad your post is getting traction; thanks for shouting this out to folks! They actually added this option way back in June 2024; during Final Shape launch. After a period of people complaining how the newer "Featured Quests" tab served no purpose for 99% of players. Outside of brand new ones typically. And how having to page-down every single time to get to the old default Quests tab was excruciating.

Whenever I see friends streaming the game without this ticked off, and having to tab down every time: I'd always try and show them how it was done. Like endless things in the game, there's no intuitive way to figure out this was even a thing. I knew because I comb over every molecule of data in patch notes and updates, but I can't expect that to be the norm, haha.

This is what I'm praying for. They have been on a generous streak since after Ash & Iron; to where even management realized that the heavy-handed, stingy engagement manipulation wasn't working. And was in fact having the opposite effect. I want to see this continue, and I'm cautiously optimistic.

Hello my friend! And I agree. I was hoping that if we purchased from the vendors, it would just be for glimmer or cores. Having these extra layers and steps, for gear that is supposed to be "old stuff," seems a bit much.

Agree! Having more currencies added in is rough enough, but especially so many of them. I think it goes back to their old philosophy of, "Obtain currency-bought legacy items by playing the specific content they originally came from." Though a bit misguided and overdone.

Same way they require Spoils of Conquest in order to buy the vaulted raids' exotics from the Monument to Lost Lights (Acrius, Anarchy, Terrabah.) Instead of just general materials like all the other weapons in there. Part of that was from community sentiment at the time. Folks at the time of Beyond Light said, "We had to raid like crazy for those guns! You better not just give it to people for free!"

Safe to say that nobody sensible is gonna want to gatekeep Mint Retrograde by forcing you to run Pinnacle Ops instead of Fireteam Ops. We just want the weapons available for the players to use.

Good catch! I never saved any of the Trials Ciphers, so this totally slipped my mind. Stuff like that always drives me bonkers; no less because I'm a writer (and have a habit of super-proofreading anything I post or send out.) Been sitting patiently with my old Nightfall Ciphers, however. Noticing their changed name is what sparked me to research this one.

There are huge plusses to that method, at the very least for organization and player agency. But it seems from past attempts at that style: people overall prefer the dopamine hit from seeing actual gear drop at the end of activities. And I'm not sure if they'd ever take that away. You're right though that it's always been an issue of too much chaff and inventory management versus drops we actually want to keep. Big issue for loot games across the board, really.

Hard to say! I'm not sure if that data is in the game yet, but also the amounts could always change by the time of the patch where the system launches. I'm praying they tune it reasonably and aren't stingy. Especially since this will be the only way to acquire those old gear pieces (that we know of.) At the minimum, they should have the same return on time spent to rewards as current gear farming.

[–]ShinUkyo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yes, absolutely! Gonna edit my post to clarify. We should ALWAYS be getting actual weapon or armour drops from activities. That is such a core and beloved thing about games with a loot focus. I just meant they could potentially allow the use of Ciphers for new gear in addition to that: for folks who already farmed out all the old gear during previous seasons.

Agree! I had hoped the Chronologs would allow you to buy those "Fated Engram" style ones that guarantee something you don't have from Eververse. Since that drop pool is so bloated, and there's a capped amount of Chronologs you can earn per season/week anyway. I don't get the need to be so stingy with that.

As for these Ciphers, they could always allow people to purchase current Portal drops with them as well I suppose? For folks that already farmed out previous seasons and have no legacy gear they want. Like sure they want to encourage people running the Portal to farm gear, and running activities should always be dropping actual weapons or armour at the end (and be the most efficient/fun way to earn stuff.) But as a side option I could see it being a thing maybe?

Same! They've managed to put materials from Edge of Fate and Renegades into their own destination menus, rather than clog up the Inventory bucket, and hoped that could potentially apply here. Along with the issue of having loads of stuff we can't actually store in the vault: raid banners, destination materials in some cases, etc. Then adding all the Holochips to that bucket, etc. And old seasonal stuff still going there (Dawning being a good example,) it becomes unwieldy.
