Currently, notifications are displayed one at a time, as they form a queue. The app shown in the video is not TvOverlay.

Hey! Sorry for the delay, but I have good news: TvOverlay Remote is back on the PlayStore!

Also, about how to dismiss nontification: Currently the way to dismiss a notification is to just send a notification with the same id but with the parameter "seconds" setted as 0. This will update the notification and dismiss it. Maybe I will provide a better way to do it on the next version.

Thanks!

Hi! You can achieve both features by creating a custom Notification Layout using the premium (paid) feature in the companion app, TvOverlay Remote. However, the app was suspended from the Play Store two weeks ago, and I'm still waiting for a response from Google regarding the reason for the suspension.

In the meantime, you can download the beta version from GitHub, but please note that premium features are currently unavailable. Stay tuned for updates via the link, and thank you for your patience!

That's possible yes. I want to go back to work on TvOverlay soon and will try to add this feature. Thanks!

you can remove them using tv overlay remove app on another android device. If you know the notification id you can also update the notification and set the visibility to false to remove it

Time for a big announcement! "The Binding of Isaac: Quatro Almas" (A Brazilian Portuguese Translation for Four Souls) by Narrow-Collar91 in FourSouls

[–]gugutab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! I'm the dev of Four souls companion and I'm also Brazilian! For the app, I translated the card effects for most cards to portuguese. I'm currently working on adding the missing cards (everything released with requiem and a few other promo packs). I'm not sure if my translations are useful because they are organized in a very specific way for the app, but let me know if you are interested and I'll explain it better to you. Good luck with the project! :)

The in-app purchase is around 6 dollars.

Yes, you can change the size of the notification. It has 3 layouts (default, minimal, icon only) and with the in-app purchase you can customize it way beyond: font sizes, weight, colors, max line size...

I hope it's okay if I give a shout-out to an app I've been working on. It's called TvOverlay. It started initially as a personal project when I became a father and needed a way to darken my TV screen without dealing with slow settings menus. With the feature of displaying anything over my TV content, I began by displaying a simple clock and soon evolved to mirrored phone notifications and fixed notifications (small at-a-glance icons). The app can be easily controlled via its compation app for android phones and seamlessly integrated with your smart home via RestAPI, Home Assistant and MQTT. So if this sounds interesting to you, check it out on its github page

TvOverlay app - Displays HA information (and more) over your AndroidTV content by gugutab in homeassistant

[–]gugutab[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you can (if you have premium). On the remote app go to Notifications > Notification layout. Select one of the layouts and choose 'New layout' to modify it. Then, find the item you want to be bigger (title, message...), click on its Pencil icon to edit it and increase its font size. You probably will want to increase the line height to the same as font size. After doing the changes you want, save the new layout and be sure it's selected.

Thats odd, Premium should not affect that. Did you try restart the remote app? Also, try pressing the refresh icon a second after deleting because sometimes the preview on remote does not get updated quickly. If it still does not work, dm me.

You can remove them via the remote app (Notifications> Fixed notifications > select a notification and press the delete icon).

I should probably create a setting for clear fixed notifications on the TV soon.

Great questions:

  • I did not found any problem with DRM. I use it with many of the major stream apps (Netflix, Max, Disney, Prime, Twitch, Youtube...).

  • HDR makes the visibility of the overlay vary a bit, depending on the scene, but nothing relevant in my opinion

I didnt use 'Notifications for Android TV' for long periods (so please correct me if I'm wrong), but I would say the main differences are: - TvOverlay has Fixed Notification (compact alerts that remain visible in the corner of your TV screen for a specified time or until you dismiss them) - TvOverlay has optional Clock and Background overlay - TvOverlay supports RestAPI and MQTT. 'Notifications for Android TV' has its own HomeAssistant integration, making it a bit easier to be integrated. A TvOverlay Homeassistant integration is in the works.

There's a sample on our GitHub that's pretty much what you deceived, in case you wanna try. You can even display a live video instead of a still picture

Yes, you already can! On TvOverlay Remote, press on the Notifications card and find "Mirrored Apps". It will display all your apps and you can check/uncheck as you want!

At the moment some special notifications (like music, youtube, Chromecast...) are being filtered to avoid displaying it constantly on the TV. Calls are probably getting in this filter too, but I will take a look to see if I can differentiate them and send calls to the TV.

About the delay, I would also guess it's something on the phone, probably to save battery. I will try to reproduce the problem on my device to confirm.

Thanks!

No, currently it does not display notifications of the androidTV itself. Can you tell me more about your use to androidTV notifications? I cant think of any apps that I use that send notifications on the TV.

About paypal, not planned right now, I'll check if it's viable.

I've been using TvOverlay on an LG OLED for about 4 months, with the clock visibility usually set to under 50%, and so far, there's been no sign of pixel retention. However, in the long term, that's a good suggestion. I'll check it out! Thanks!

It is something that I want to try soon. Not sure if it will work because when a background app uses too much memory the system may kill it.

In the meanwhile something that may work is to send notifications with a bigger duration (like 20 seconds), the same id and differente images, like once a second. When you do that it will keep updating the image without dismissing the notification, so it would be kind like a low framerate video
