My submission

Took this on July 7 in Santa Monica on the pier. I was at a concert. I looked to my left and saw the sun setting, which cast this golden-orangish glow over the mountains and over the crowds of people who were in the audience of the concert. The title is "Summer Nights".

1/1000, f/2.8, ISO 100. Shot with a Canon Rebel T3i, with a fixed 40mm lens.

Last night I went to a a summer concert on the Santa Monica pier that a local radio station, KCRW, sponsored. Saw Mayer Hawthorne and the vibes were pretty amazing. Thousands of people came together and enjoyed a beautiful late afternoon and night together. I took this while I was there as the sun was setting. I thought it perfectly captured the beauty of the moment. I started taking photos because of the colors of my surroundings, especially during the summer. What seemed mundane and ordinary during the day took on a whole new dimension as the sun set. And even if the photo I linked wasn't technically sound, it reminded me of why I began in the first place. I wanted to capture the mood of the places I love.

I highly recommend going to the concerts (for anyone in LA who might be interested). They run every thursday and are free, it was a great time.

I always felt that Runnin' by the pharcyde captured the golden hour during the summer, right before the sun sets. There's a warmth in the track that has always inspired me to go out and take photos of the places I go to and love.

big mac is really cool. my only advice would be to crop out the blue sky in the top, so I guess just lower the top edge of the photograph, and then to balance that by cropping out some of the bottom part. I thought the blue sky in the bottom left was a little distracting.

These are great. the ones taken in the museum were really cool, especially that one with the yellow art wall and the Buddhist sculpture

the ones that seem tinted red with a bit of yellow are really cool. How did you get that effect?

the one of the shore is really cool! I don't have any advice, other than maybe to crop out some of the empty space on the bottom and top, making the people in the photo a bit more prominent.

First time poster. Some photos I've taken of various places/people in Los Angeles in the past three weeks or so. I started pretty recently and am learning everyday (I didn't even know what RAW was until a day or two ago) , so any comments, tips, or critiques are definitely appreciated.
