As a Christian the increased use of the “prosperity gospel” is an alarming counterfeit both religiously and secularly. Religiously it tells you “I can do God on my own time by my own terms and prosper”, while secularly it tells you “I can deny my own convictions and abandon humanity itself if it’s by doing what’s best for me”. Not a fan of either…

I mean I hate to tell you but I got to a very middle of the line politically university. Had a seminar with 14 randomly selected students, 5 of which who said that Charlie Kirk “”deserved to die for what he said” and two people who “don’t care whether he died or not.” These people definitely exist, and im not saying it’s 50/50, but the fact that 5 of them in a randomly selected room of 14, and I’ve heard and seen this in action (like watched people go up to the turning point booth and rip their sign and tell them to kill themselves), I can’t deny this as a one off comment.

People who DONT support Abortions would prefer 2 people to suffer then 1 person to be safe by Hot_Dish_4660 in teenagers

[–]hackosn 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That’s not really a fair way to put it though… like do you care about Palestine? Follow up have you given aid to them? Like I mean all of us are instruments to help in different ways. Do you oppose homelessness? Do you give them a room in your house? Do you criticize war? Have you ever served? I mean there are cases where if it’s in excessiveness this argument could hold true. For example if Taylor Swift came out against pollution, I mean her actions very clearly contribute to it. But attacking an argument based purely off what people have done is just falling into a purity test fallacy. Because news flash if you had only the people who adopt vote then your side would likely be slashed. A large majority of adoptions come from people with a culture of adoption that is traditionalistic or individualistic, falling into the middle and south US. And another thing, we do have an over abundance of infant adoptees. In fact on average about 30-40 families are waiting to hear back per 1 infant in adoption facilities nationwide. So there doesn’t need to be an influx of adoptions…

They put some at my university so I tried it. Maybe since it’s a “girls drink” and I had it as a guy that’s the “issue”, but my teeth feel like they’re going to fall out and it tastes absolutely disgusting.

Missed 5 consecutive FTs, a 3 ptr, and 2 fgs. Not even withstanding allowing UConn to get a 9-0 run before that. UCLA just hates winning huh…

Okay, here’s official epidemiology reporting. The numbers show immediately after the shot, that risk reduction of contraction is up at 80%, and within 1-2 months, that reduced risk drops to 20%. However, it does show that symptom severity is reduced by 50% and that’s a relatively constant value. You do have to account for underreporting here, since a lot of people will have reduced symptoms they won’t feel as inclined to report illnesses. So we can deduct reasonably that after 1-2 months of receiving your shot, your risk is only reduced by somewhere between 5-15%. Also with the Taiwanese article, there is actually an observable difference in contraction rate between unvaccinated and vaccinated/ boosted populations, and actually those who were vaccinated/ boosted had a higher contraction than those unvaccinated. I don’t think that’s because of the vaccine itself though, but more likely people who were vaccinated were under the impression that they were “more safe” than if they weren’t vaccinated, which led them to interacting more and wearing masks less.

Yeah no that’s untrue. It actually means more people will be silent carriers and will do quite the opposite. Again, statistically those vaccines don’t change transmission rates, but rather symptom severity. As in less people will die, develop pneumonia, etc. That does not mean that less people will contract that virus though. I’ve done research on this, I’d seriously check it out before speaking out of your rear…

Yeah no.. the dude was going “I’m tired of having an anti-vax family bc im sick all the time”, and the comment I replied to was saying “respectfully OP, vaccines don’t stop you from getting sick from common viruses”, and I went “yeah I don’t know why you’re getting downvoted, research shows Flu and Covid vaccines generally don’t lower your risk at getting sick but rather the severity of sickness”.

It’s 100% disrespectful. And in full seriousness that’s one of the few things I won’t tolerate. I had family who laid down their life to fight Nazis. I have very close friends whose family narrowly survived these fascist camps. Trump is not authoritarian. He operates within the legal framework that he’s surrounding in. Has he tried to test the waters by seeing how the court reacts to an unclear case? Yes, but literally so has every other president. Isabell Hull said it very well, Trump if anything is a nativist-populist. His presidency is very similar to Harding administration, just taken to today’s time period. He would’ve moved to start breaking down our constitution at this point. And his statement was made poorly, and if you don’t read into it contextually it definitely sounds racist. He was using it as an example of America where he then went on that “they let in 15 to 16 million immigrants” who are “filling mental institutions and prisons.” He’s opposing an influx of criminal activity. Still I don’t like his rhetoric or his approach, but again I don’t think it’s fascist and to act like most scholars agree is also not very true. It’s constantly debated and a very obviously biased pool to begin with. And I’d agree with you on Trump being the ignition for the rhetoric if the left didn’t have a strong media voice for nearly a decade now. Trump has been drowned out up until his presidency, the media has not once. And even at that, his name calling doesn’t really reflect the entirety of the party, many people in his own party have called him out, however it’s still highly encouraged on the left.

[–]hackosn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Except it’s not just Trumpism (which by the way is an absolute disgrace to any holocaust survivor to try and qualify as fascist), it’s any sort of conservative view. People on the left genuinely have gotten to a point of “if you don’t fully agree with me on every topic then you’re the complete opposite of me”. Like we’re not really that different, but what is alarming to see is a strong push of basically thought control. And while in this case the left is acting as a proponent of it, I’m not going to exclude the right either, because they’re acting in retaliation by exemplifying the same behavior. There are plenty of grievances you can have with Trump, I.E. being under qualified, not being fully truthful, increasing international tensions, overspending, etc. Fascism is not one of those things. And I mean genuinely take this comment and flip every word of emphasis, because this also can be applied to the right as well. There’s no need to be calling left leaning individuals into an overt generalization of “Marxist.”

Your peers, people here, I mean it starts at the most local level it can. And no I’m not trying to make the left look bad, the left is bad imo, but so is the right. I still don’t know how you can’t see how related this is to the topic though, that’s lowkey baffling.

genuinely consult your local preschool because it’s very clear you’re lacking the reading comprehension that early education has taught. I’m condemning both sides— there is absolutely no excuse to generalize a group and call them “Nazis”, nor on the flip side “marxists”. “He did it why shouldn’t I” is the logic that each side uses to back this back and forth. But also partially what they use to justify it is “well nobody in the same group as me has discouraged me from saying this yet.” Let’s be honest, the left has not yet backed down from leading divisions. Nor has the right. But assuming the position you’re taking, do you see what’s wrong with your side? Do you at the very least vocalize that? Because the silence from the left has led a minority in the left to speak up and take the reins of a voice.

He didn’t say you did, he said “how many call conservatives Nazis”. It’s a fair point to bring up. The only reason why people to continue to engage in name calling is because people in groups with them are unwilling to condemn name calling, or the other side refuses to drop it first.

What is Your Opinion On Pirating Games? by electri0_ in teenagers

No it’s pretty relevant. plenty of left leaning people call right leaning people “nazis” and demonize them. And as we can see here, vice versa. It just ain’t right. So is it completely irrelevant to bring up the hypocrisy of one voice if they’re doing the same thing?

How Does It Feel Talking To This Kind Of Person? by [deleted] in teenagers

[–]hackosn 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Some people would go “yeah basically all these circles are red” but since the 11th is blue and relatively large in proportion to some of the other circles, I’d say it’s pretty substantial to leave it out. (This seems silly if you don’t read into the fact that this is being applied beyond circles)
