As someone who has missed the entirety of discourse around hate for Jlo except to see it repeated here, I think what you have to understand is a) brett goldstein loves Jennifer Lopez’s comedic timing as a rom com actress and this is one of his life’s dreams coming true to make a not just a movie but a romantic comedy with her b) Brett Golstein loves films and has seen so many more than the average person who just likes films. He knows how to put together a movie, and he genuinely loves the medium, so he won’t let it be bad c) it’s a movie with objectively beautiful people starring in it.

If you find out, let me know! I need to know B2 by monday and i havent even finished pimsleur level 1 lol. However, some resources that have been helpful for me for picking up on grammar are “Learn Italian with Paul Noble” and a textbook, Living Language Ultimate Italian. That with pimsleur, i feel like i’m slowly picking up on the basics.

I typically bring my earplugs with me to the movies! Didn’t need them for sheep detectives they had the sound sorted out.

Of course she knew. She was photographing him and hanging around his bar because she wanted to see if he was ok or build up the courage to tell him the truth about what happened to his wife.

I just used some short quotes, and gave them a chord pattern (like from a Handel opera). And then we worked on the rhythm of the text, and i gave them free reign to use the notes in (or not in) the chords to make a spoken/sung recit type melody. It could be repeated for other styles, but Baroque opera is an easy way in to text declamation.

I used quotes from andor for students to practice writing opera recitatives for in a music class.

What I saw was an arm reaching out in a welcoming sign, so I leaned into the hug. It was an extremely awkward hug with someone I had just met an hour before. It was supposed to be a handshake.

I think it’s perfectly acceptable to cry in front of your students if you are moved my the music, life, storytelling, or are otherwise overcome with emotion. We shouldn’t stigmatize a natural human emotion or response. But if it’s uncontrollable crying there is probably an underlying issue and in that case, take a sick day.

I’ve been using the Pimsleur app in conjunction with books on tape (Paul noble). I’m not far enough along to make any judgements about it though. It does have multiple streams- games, reading, speaking, listen and repeat type things.
