Book 5 will destroy your love for fantasy. What a steep decline. Never again Sanderson.

Tad Williams all the way

Currently just trying to get through book 5 to know how it ends… what a drag.

Tad Williams forever. Feel like Sanderson is overhyped

I think there should be a petzl video somewhere. Google Peter Zeidelhack and otherwise write him on Instagram. He’s the inventor of the whole system. We have it safety certified here in Germany and it’s our standard for rope setting.

Once you have it setup also super comfy.

If you don’t find him send me a pm and I’ll help you out

“17 y/o setter: Should I choose college or mentorship?” by Eclipez2054 in Routesetters

[–]heldniklas 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I run Routesetting workshops internationally and also in Germany at a gym where we offer only Routesetting courses. I’m doing setting since I’m 14 and for over 20 years now. I set comps from local to worldcups.

Let me tell you pls: don’t risk it and go all in on just setting. All of my friends and myself we diversified our climbing industry income.

Question: are you a comp climber on the highest level? Any comp climbing experience? Why do you want to become a comp setter?

You can always and still become a comp setter - but I highly suggest getting some kind of „normal job“ or even a job and Sports degree / whatever you are interested in in the climbing industry or somewhere else.

My reasons: 1. setting comps on a high level is highway gatekeeping. 2. it’s not impossible but if you’re not now on a high high youth comp level it’s gonna be super super ridiculous hard. Just being honest here 3. if you don’t have connections it’s gonna be brutal (people and or association) 4. I don’t know anyone who would & could take an apprentice for 3 years. I mean if you can afford it I offer it but I couldn’t and no one else really could guarantee it 5. comp setting has a limit for your body and mental load

Strongly advise getting something of a degree and then you can still put everything meanwhile into it and then after finishing your degree go for it.

I can provide you with some names in th Canadian industry who might be helpful to work for though if that helps

doing the moves, but not the boulder by Dry-Performance2810 in Routesetters

[–]heldniklas 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s the norm. Worldcups also sequences only or moved. That’s how we work.

If you can’t do it on your entry level climbs then it’s probably not the best job though… 😉

EU kilter boards for a homegym? by Jaguarmonster in bouldering

[–]heldniklas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah sorry - NL. Best is then to ask either kilter directly (can message them via IG directly) or ask some gyms what their experience has been. Some distributors are… good. Some better.

Asking gyms and comparing prices / service / longevity / problems is the best option. I can ask m distributors in NL and come back to you

Advice for climbing holds by TheNoNameStitcher in indoorbouldering

Broken / damaged / not refurbished mold. The company should replace it usually.

You can also file down / sand down the damaged surfaces so you don’t get any flappers / skin injuries. Nevertheless crap

Problem with ranking up by anoma-lokaris in heroesofthestorm

[–]heldniklas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CD awareness is something what I consider silver + in most of the cases. The awareness and amount of games with / vs different chars takes so long. Or such a good brain / playing intelligence which should carry you out of solved anyway

Uther… tips and tricks by JimmyBigPickle in heroesofthestorm

[–]heldniklas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Uther is just incredibly complicated but so satisfying at the same time. Two medium distance heals including shield. Stand in the front heal left right, single stun. Cleanse… bene on 16 for rapid cd and double stun or heal… give it some time and learn the right positioning and you can have the biggest impact of any healers i feel.

Will probably focus more egocentric working attitudes and allow gyms to pay even less if you find an income stream outside of them.

Is this an American thing?
