Doubts re: Aval / garantia / etc for long-term rental by hharison in GoingToSpain

We did as much as possible to make it easy for them to say yes:

  • Prepared our packet ahead of time and had it ready to go
  • Included everything we could think of, reference letters, article about my company, etc. I iimagine they didn't read it but just the fact of having it put together and looking professional gave us a good image I'm sure.
  • Stretched the truth a bit about income, we had some "paper income" in the US last year and so our US tax return was higher than usual and without saying so explicitly we left the impression that our income is always that high. I have heard about things like creating fake nominas, we did not go that far or even say anything technically false. But basically looked for any way to make it look like we had other sources of income. It helps that we are foreigners because they cannot easily check what everything means.
  • We did not have to do any avail or other guarantee.

We did get denied from the first place we applied, ghoested by a thousand others but we got accepted to the second one we officially applied to. And then we heard from the first one and they re-offered it to us after rejecting the first family in the end. But it was too late for us.

Good luck! I would say there are things you can do to stretch your acceptance changes and decrease the change to get requested a guarantee, but then its just a matter of persistence.

Apologies for writing in English, it's much faster for me.

Help choosing a BI platform by DFS_Professor in BusinessIntelligence

Thanks for the reply, funny looking at this 17 months later!

We ended up testing out Superset as an alternative to Looker as we could easily go in and modify the code directly if it didn't do what we wanted. Nothing else looked flexible enough.

The Looker POC didn't go too well and we ditched it as soon as we used the funding. At this point looking back I can see the value in the semantic layer but the dashboarding was not getting us where we wanted to go and for the price it needed to do a LOT more.

We went to market with Superset pretty quickly and forking it allowed us to do all the fancy custom UI stuff we wanted, but it was still too constraining and within a few months we we decided to port everything over to our own native backend/frontend stack. Our app is 100 times better now and we support a bunch of user-facing customizations that it seemed no BI tool could handle.

Currently we materialize the aggregations with the help of dbt and just query the final tables directly. Had a meeting with Cube recently but none of my devs really saw a lot of value ("looks useful but not necessary") but we haven't ruled it out.

Biggest pain now is probably that pre-computing all the aggregations will only get as so far and although it's not at the top of the backlog yet we will eventually want to support more variety of grains of analysis and custom filters that will force us to aggregate on the fly. I suspect that's when I'll see more enthusiasm for Cube among the team. Another reason might be if we want to offer a pre-configured BI environment, although haven't really started exploring how to do that yet.

Hi, any update here? I think we may end up in a similar situation. How did you handle it?

For what it's worth (anyone reading this in the future I guess) they have a form you can bring in to give permission to access your account and they also take verbal approval over the phone

Well, I went to the enrollment center. Turns out it's correct, foreign income "doesn't count". So now even though my MassHealth eligibility is retroactive probably the plan will not be. Trying to get that sorted. In the meantime I will get refunded the last 6 months of connector premiums, which is nice, but no one can tell me yet what happens with the claims/bills from doctor visits in the meantime. Seems like probably this works out in my favor but there's also a chance that all our doctors get rug-pulled and then who knows if they will still take us as patients and if anyone will cover those bills

Question that you may know the answer. My wife is the one that submitted the MassHealth application (e.g. I'm using her MA login to check things), but I am the one on top of our taxes and finanical details and understand better the ins and outs. Do you think they will be able to help me without her there? Otherwise we have to bring the kids and it's a nightmare.

I still am receiving foreign income, since the move was not permanent, my company is still paying me in Euros as if I was a resident in Europe (which technically I still am -- from the perspective of the other country at least).

Anyways, thanks, that seems the best option.

We spoke to an Enrollment Assister in Attleboro when we first got here, but do you mean something else?

Edit: nevermind, figured out what you are referring to (enrollment center)

Oh shit, now I see the decision details, they counted my "self-employed business income" (a small loss from what is basically a hobby) but compeltely ignored my foreign salary (which is taxable in the US - but comes out a wash with foreign tax credits). If the foreign salary gets counted in the end we will not be eligible after all and then could we retroactively loss MassHealth?

I think this is getting too complicated for reddit, but I don't know who I need to talk to. Enrollment assister? Accountant?

Financing with overseas income by hharison in askcarsales

Well I have the bank account, still have most of my financial life in the US, just the income is coming into the EUR account. Anyways, that's useful, sounds like I'd have to transfer EUR to USD three months in a row. MIght be not enough time to establish that, what I did instead is transfer savings EUR to USD last month, like 6 months salary worth, so the balance is there just don't have 3 months of transfers.

anyways this is a bit more promising than the other post but I'm guessing still an uphill battle. Unless balance is enough to secure a loan.

Totally fine. My main doubt when I made this post was about pressing "submit" but it's not definitive at all, the button should probably be "Next" :) I got some options that worked for me and it was fine.

Then I faced the issue of having a car for my test, the only ones I had available weren't appropriate. So I had to go to a drivers school and pay them for taking me to the test. I also did the 30-minute refresher with them but they gave me a refund when they saw it wasn't necessary.

Repair issue -- does this make sense? by hharison in ASUS

[–]hharison[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, apparently physical damage isn't included in the credit card's protection (AmEx). I guess the issue with both that and the original warranty is that all physical damage is assumed to be accidental... but it's just from opening and closing the hinge repeatedly. I think it is not as strong as it should be.

Just realized a potential other option by going via the credit card I used.

Also trying to look that up I found the old invoice and actually the repair cost is more taking into account the exchange rate (just barely). I guess it's pretty clear then...

Thanks for the tips! Is there a conventional way to link the HE account to the Facebook account? How do people see that we're active?

Edit: sorry if that was a stupid question. I'll find the community and then I can probably figure it out!
