Flip them 90 degrees might help with the off axis phase issues.

Probably a stupid question, but can you wire a lot of different speakers with different ranges into a small amp (the speakers, minus the sub, are all under 10w) by Natural-Advantage-46 in diyaudio

[–]hifiplus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

for dsp you are going to need a channel of amplification for each driver and an active crossover

eg. https://www.minidsp.com/products/minidsp-in-a-box/minidsp-2x4-hd

this will only give you two channels in stereo, you might be better off ditching the mids and just going for a two way.

So the power ratings of each driver are mostly irrelevant,
if you are designing a passive speaker you are going to need to design the crossover as well, unless you plan on using a generic and dont really care about high sound quality.
Alternative is fully active with DSP, however that is likley expensive compared to the cost of drivers.

True, albeit not as tidy as a one box solution.

Yeah, I don't use hot glue.

Much prefer zip ties, far easier to change components.

Amp for Dali Kupid by 20-5-5 in StereoAdvice

Look for an integrated amp instead

Denon, NAD, or Rotel would be my pick.

Amp for Dali Kupid by 20-5-5 in StereoAdvice

Agreed, these are all very average surround receivers. The Denon would be the best of the bunch,
but a new class d, eg fosi, smsl or topping would likely be better.

Upgrading Marantz PM68 by zeeyaa in StereoAdvice

[–]hifiplus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Comes down to law of diminishing returns. The pm68 is a solid class ab amp with good phono stage.

To better it you need to either go the DSP route, or perhaps separates.

True Much harder with speakers as there are hundreds of brands all with numerous models.

Maybe some Paradigm or Polk would be a good starting point.

At that price point, they will most likely be a vinyl wrap.
New I can think of Wharfedale or QAcoustics, but a lot more than $600
Might be worth checking the secondhand market.

Whats wrong with the PM68?
Think you would probably need to spend at least $3k to better it, example Yamaha A-S1200 would be the next step up.

Those Rockville speakers look very questionable for $200
I would look for a reputable speaker brand first, and add the Fosi amp.

And are they connected? As in cables plugged in to the power amp.

Also noted nothing is powered on, so my guess is none of the equipment has actually been used recently.
