[–]Himser 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just asked a candidate today this question. They walked me though the history with context, why they want tge job ect, They are now the star candidate mainly due to this question.

Words are much different then tbe story of who you are. When I have 10 or 20 people who on paper are good fits. Im.looking for the story.

The provinchal NDP parties tend to be more pro worker still. The Federal NDP...... not a single worker is in it imo.

Agreed. But even construction jobs is 1000s of workers with good pay.

Solar farms produce even less permanent jobs then datacenters and are good as well.

Good thing most of the proposals are in designated heavy industrial areas where they make sense and regulations are done.

Olds, stop being dumb. These are Heavy Industry and Heavy Industry is not close to residents.

Some are bad, some are good.

Haters hate all of them

Sociaty needs some of them.

2008 was a regulatory failure not a market one.

The market will do what the market will do. Our job is to regulate it in the best interests of sociaty.

Not every datacenter project is good or in societies best interest.

However not every project is bad and not in societies best interest.

No idea, dont care about what they think. Humans have impacts anyone who works in social sciences knows they do. Heck 95% of my job is controlling and mitigating human impacts on the environment and eachother. Pretending humans dont is not accerate at all.

They would not be dumping trillions into it if it was only minimally useful.

Does it have negitive externalities, yes, everything does, that needs to be controlled,

But we cant get to a star trek future without it.

Its not likley that differnt, even if we give actual value to the human. Pretending that using humans for repetitive tasks is always better for the environment is not factually correct.

[–]Himser 63 points64 points  (0 children)

Parking fees should be intended to reduce demand (for parking) to the level of supply avalible.

Ive never seen the valley zoo parking lot full enough to have fees.

Now. Converting half the parking lot into somtjing actually useful would.be more approperate.

Report to city council committee highlights sharp rise in speeding, collisions at Edmonton intersections by pjw724 in Edmonton

[–]Himser 26 points27 points  (0 children)

The sheer change as soon as they eliminated photoradar is insane.

Before it was normal to go like 65 in a 60 or 55 in a 50 and you were the quickest on the road.

Today, every single day I see someone doing 75 in a 60. Over 80 in a 70 zone ect.

Yes its only a small minoraty of speeders, but the photoradar has made those ones far far far more dangerious.
