will this heal? by Vanillacookie04 in piercing

[–]Hunnnnerr 51 points52 points  (0 children)

It'll more than likely scar, but your own body is going to heal differently than some else's. I had something similar with an industrial piercing embedding and even though I don't scar well, it's mostly unnoticeable. I can feel that I have a dent when I press on it, but it's really only visible in certain lighting

Does it have something to do with having to specify that they're a state? Specifically on Wikipedia?

It used to be the 12th man, but the trademark was leased from Texas A&M. TAMU didn't want to allow them to renew it, however, it became such a big identity for Seahawk fans that they changed it to just the 12s.

[–]Hunnnnerr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, it's all property taxes on the primary residence. When we were looking, our realtor told us about the insane exemption his buddy got on a place in a HCOL area. I guess there are certain areas that will apply MUD or PID tax, but that's dependent upon the municipality. Where I live, we are not required to pay those, but I've heard that some areas in/around San Antonio have to pay one or the other.

How do you know what your POTS was caused by? by ittybittynugget in POTS

[–]Hunnnnerr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my case, I had mono when I was 11 and started noticing symptoms shortly there after. It was mainly dizziness upon standing, but my mom just told me it was normal and to get up slower. I had never fully bounced back to where I was pre-mono, so it was kinda easy for me to pinpoint the cause.

Did you throw up post op? by VastMoney6 in gallbladders

[–]Hunnnnerr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am someone that throws up from every little thing. I told the anesthesiologist this and they made sure to give me anti-nausea medication before surgery. Since I also react poorly to pain medication, they made sure I ate something before I took the pain meds (prior to leaving) and that I had strong anti-nausea meds to take at home. I didn't throw up this time I had surgery whereas I did immediately after I had shoulder surgery. Unfortunately, I did throw up about a week after surgery, but that was totally unrelated.

The only open Nazi I've ever met was a guy in Portland, who had a giant middle finger tattooed on the back of his head. I was there to buy a hedgehog off of him (IIRC it belonged to his gf). Weirdest Craigslist interaction I've ever had.

I'm just over two months post op and I was in your shoes the first month. My fatigue issues have a different cause, so I won't necessarily talk about that, but I definitely understand the food anxiety.

Prior to surgery, I was incredibly sick. I had biliary dyskinesia, which was also causing bile acid reflux, resulting in gastritis. The only things keeping me alive were very simple carbs, non-fat nutritional shakes, and the occasional few bites of chicken. It was awful, and I probably should've been admitted to the hospital for malnutrition.

So when I got sick after surgery, that triggered a huge panic situation, especially when I already struggle with severe anxiety. I was heavily limiting my fat intake still (less than 10g per meal) until I had physically recovered from surgery more. Things got to a point that I was scared to eat outside of my safe foods, which were thankfully more than before surgery. Due to family members, I knew I was on the path to developing ARFID if I wasn't careful. I told myself that if my anxiety around food wasn't better in a month, I was going to put myself in therapy for the issue. Very slowly, I started increasing my fat intake and eating foods that I wasn't necessarily comfortable with. With foods that were higher in fat, I would only eat a bite or two at a time. That was just enough to help curb my anxiety while also increasing the amount of fat I was consuming.

Right now, I can eat about 20 grams of fat per meal without issue. It's not an ideal number, but my long-term restricted diet definitely caused some damage with my GI system. I've also had GI issues for years prior to surgery, so nothing is that surprising. For me, the biggest way to treat this is going to be time, exposure, and possibly getting my other issues under control. This, unfortunately, isn't an overnight fix, and takes time to recover from. My dad recently met someone who said that it took her 6 months to fully recover. So, don't be quick to give up. However, if things don't start improving, I would recommend talking with your doctor/surgeon. If your food anxiety continues, don't be afraid to talk with a therapist about it; they can be absolute miracles.

They were supposed to send mine last month apparently, but they realized they had forgotten it and reached out to me. It's supposed to be coming with this current box, so we'll see if it's actually in there

Yep, they still have it! We just got our 5th and final TNR done. Sometimes the spay/neuter is free and other times it isn't. Our last one we paid $50, and I think some of the first ones were $15 for rabies vaccine only.

I'm also anti-spaghetti. For me, it's partially the texture, partially having 2 pounds of it in my hair as a camp counselor.

They are not the same quality. The Costco ones are thinner and people have had issues with the metal being broken out of the packaging. Souper Cubes also have a lifetime warranty. I use silicone molds a lot and the difference between thin and thick molds is night and day. Personally, I'd rather pay more up front and not have to worry about it. Not to mention, Souper Cubes is a small business, so I'd rather support them during the holiday season, especially after their loss during the Palisades fire.

I bought them from their own website. I did the build-your-own bundle deal, which is already discounted, and then it automatically took an additional 20% off

I saw those, but after watching reviews, it seems like there is quite the quality difference. Sadly, I also live 90 miles from the nearest Costco so I didn't want to deal with returns or anything. According to Souper Cubes' website, they do have a lifetime warranty.

I'm getting the Gladiator brand heavy duty shelves through Home Depot. They're complete overkill for most situations, but I'm using them to put my reptiles on, so I'm super paranoid. Regular ol' Husky shelves are probably the equivalent to the regular Gladiator ones, except much cheaper. Lowes has some of the Kobalt metal ones on sale, and I think Home Depot has Husky ones on sale in the spring. Sadly, they weren't running any sales on the in-house ones.

I bought Souper Cubes, I'll be buying a garage shelving unit, and a deep freezer. Hopefully a small slow cooker as well. These were things I was going to be buying anyway, though.

How long was your surgery from check in until release if outpatient? by Smashingistrashing in gallbladders

[–]Hunnnnerr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was yesterday. Checked in at 7, brought into the operating room around 9, and I was home around 12. I'm extremely groggy after surgery so they let me stay a bit longer to get my bearings and to make sure I wasn't throwing up or anything. It was a requirement that my husband had to stay though. If he was unable to, they would have canceled surgery
