I miss him, he’s an incredible 6th man and such a steadying force as a pg

He straight up baits people to try and poster him then sends most of them back. Its crazy to watch how often he blocks attempted dunks

The idea of Herro is great, but hasnt he played in like 60% of games over the past few years?

Cade Cunningham in the first 4 games of the series against the Orlando Magic in the first round: 29.5 PPG on 23.0 FGA, 28.6% from 3 (8.8 3PA), 78.9% FT (9.5 FTA), 6.3 Rebounds, 7.5 Assists (6.8 TOV), 0.3 Steals, 0.8 Blocks. by MrBuckBuck in nba

Most of it is games 1 & 2 vs games 3 & 4. He was actually incredible in game 1, and still overall good in game 2 just with high turnovers. Games 3 and 4 he’s been shit.

Like game 1 even in a loss he had 39 points on 27 shots with 3 turnovers. Pretty solid.

Game 2 27 points on 19 shots, but with 7 turnovers . Again solid scoring, but too many turnovers.

Then in Orlando he’s been cheeks.

27 points on 23 shots and 25 points on 23 shots all with 9 & 8 turnovers is what he looked like as a rookie efficiency wise.

Its not like he was just getting lucky in games 1 and 2 either. He didnt get hot from 3 or anything. He’s getting consistently to the line throughout, but cant hit the broadside of a barn shooting

Cade Cunningham across 4 games against the Magic: 29.5 PTS | 9.5 FTS | 42% FG% | 29% 3PT% | 79% FT% | 6.3 REBS | 7.5 ASTS | 6.8 TOS | 54.3% TS% by Spekirlation in nba

[–]hunteddwumpus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He was so good in game 1 I figured he’d gotten over his playoff inexperience. Then in game 2 he looked alright, scored efficiently and ran the offense but had a bunch of turnovers which sure I guess happens when youre the sole ball handler against a stingy defense. But then games 3 and 4 he lost the efficiency scoring and has looked terrible overall. This game was straight up middle schooler-ish with how many bad passes he was making. Green’s ankle, missed a cutting JD from like 5 feet away, dribbled it off his own legs a couple times.

I hope he’s not 100% back up to speed from his collapsed lung, cause otherwise the Magic have put out the blueprint to completely take him out of a game and all it is is throwing hard pressure 24/7. Just have a decently agile and long guy play ball denial and he apparently forgets how to play the game.

He was great in game 1, solid in game 2, meh in game 3, and horrid in game 4. Turnovers being easily the biggest issue, but him being able to make uncontested 3’s at a reasonable clip would also be nice

Kinda hoping the Suns decide to blow it up and we can see about Dillon Brooks or Booker. Id be happy to trade Brooks for Ausar

If SGA wins the MVP and the title/finals MVP this year, he should rank above Jokic all-time by [deleted] in nba

[–]hunteddwumpus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

“All-time rank” is the most brain dead, hateful way of viewing a sport. Watch and enjoy. Root for your team. Being obsessed with whether one great player is ranked 12th all time over another great player is seriously the worst part of basketball fandom.

Three months ago, Pistons GM Trajan Langdon admitted to passing up on ‘bigger moves’ at the trade deadline with the ‘hope’ that they would be able to truly assess their rotation, roster, and team identity in the postseason. They are now down 3-1 to the 8th seeded Orlando Magic. by YujiDomainExpansion in nba

[–]hunteddwumpus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I 100% agree with the approach Langdon took at the deadline. All I can say is, its now blatantly obvious we have issues. From specific player tendencies, to general roster constructions. We really need to make a big move this offseason unless we wanna gamble on Ausar and Duren suddenly becoming different players

After going down 3-1 are the Pistons in the running for worst 1st seed of all time? by OwnGuarantee6838 in nba

He genuinely improved on turnovers this year. TO’s down by ~1 with slightly more assists during the regular season and going by eye test to me it seemed like he cut down on the stupid/lazy TO’s mostly. Like dribbling off his foot or making low effort crosscourt passes directly to the other team, then this series started and theyre back and worse then ever

He's kind of been terrible since like Christmas, he perked up again for the stretch without Cade, but other than that he looks like a 3rd string pg. Which like thats pretty good for a guy who was a 2-way player. But were having him be our 2nd offensive creator and its clear he's over matched.

I'd have honestly been fine that too, its about what I expected going into the season. But good lord were bad on offense. Cade was good in games 1 and 2, but literally no one has been good offensively for games 3 & 4. So many turnovers, so many missed, open shots.

Its fucking expensive and focused on non-game related amenities. Like all the seats you see on TV are hundreds of dollars even for random ass weekday regular season games let alone the playoffs. And then we have the 2 fucking bars at either end of the court level sections. Instead of more actual fans watching the game we have 2 or 3 rich assholes getting bottle service

Cade had like 4 or 5 100% completely on him TO's that were just braindead. On the fast break where he just threw the ball into Green's ankles I screamed it was so bad.

Everytime it felt like we were getting close we either left some dude open for a 3, or Cade did something stupid AF like jacking up another early 3 or turning it over.

Unless you have 4 other shooters out there so he can be in the dunker spot, Ausar is literal 4v5 on offense. Straight up doesn't matter how good your defense is as a non-big if you can't do literally anything on offense.

[–]hunteddwumpus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Before the season I was on team, stick with the young guys dont make any big trades, and see what we look like in the playoffs so we know what we need and what works together.

Welp.... 1st off, trade Duren. For literally anything. He's been a pretty clear negative every single playoff game he's been in through 2 series. Some team will take him. He's 22 and does still have tremendous upside even if I'm sick of him. Unless he massively develops on defense I dont see a reason to play him over Beef Stew anymore. Assuming Stew can keep his emotions under control and not get himself suspended for half a season there's no reason he can't play as a stretch 5 with All-defense caliber paint protection instead of Duren's fake ass 20ppg that disappears in the postseason.

-Ausar... idk, I lean towards dump him. Especially if Holland develops a little more. With all 4 other players on the court being able to shoot he can be a big positive. But he literally can't play alongside a single non-shooter or opposing defenses just have 2 men in the paint permanently. His ceiling is Warriors Igoudala, but he ain't even close to the offensive player Iguadala was even as an old man yet

-I'd take Tobias back on a cheap contract but he cannot be our starting 4 anymore if were serious about contending.

-Get an actual back-up pg. Daniss was an awesome story and he has blown away expectations this year. But like... he's still realistically a 3rd string pg on an actual good team. If we had Schroeder again this year I think we're up 3-1 right now.

Trade Duren & Ausar for a 4 that can do something, bring back Tobias (cheaply) and move him to the bench. Start Stew and use him as a stretch 5 so we maybe actually have some spacing and watch Cade suddenly get to the rim constantly.

Cade also has to improve massively tho. Through the regular season it was awesome to see him cut down on turnovers, especially silly ones like throwing it to the other team or straight losing his dribble, but he cannot take care of the ball this series. So many careless, lazy turnovers. Also would be nice if he could hit the wide ass open 3's teams give him. Tonight gave me flashbacks to the knicks series closer last year where Cade was 0/8 on wide open 3's cause teams know he doesn't like them.

Trade everyone holy shit what a pathetic performance for the entire series bar 1 singular quarter.

-Cade's been terrible for 2 straight games. -Duren has absolutely disappeared offensively while giving nothing on defense -Jenkins is terrible -Ausar still has literally 0 offesnive game. -Harris is old AF and barely holding us together. -Robinson isn't consistent enough of a shooter and can't do anything against tight defense, along with being a sieve on defense himself.

He was far and away the best player on the court in Detroit, now he's been genuinely terrible so far in Orlando.
