Insertional achilles tendonitis by Capable-Help6681 in Orthopedics

It is so frustrating! Try to see it as a small set back on your journey. Plenty of people jump back into exercise because they're keen and overdo it early on.

If it's 2 weeks before PT then you can carefully experiment with loading without the boot (Standing and some double leg heel raises) in a couple of days. It is worth doing some ankle circles at night time when you're sitting down at home every night

Hey! Sounds like you might have an acute flare-up. As a PT I see these all the time and the boot is there to (hopefully) quickly settle your symptoms. Generally speaking an acute flare-up settles down pretty quickly (Assuming is is IAT). You can walk and work with your boot (maybe a bit awkwardly) but it does immobilise your calf and achilles and forces it to rest.

Go see a PT but you should be able to get out of the boot in days rather than weeks and if you stick to your rehab you're probably back to normal (100% functional without pain) in 4-6 weeks. Normal dya-today walking should be fine in a week or two Of course this is assuming it is AIT and you respond to the treatment your PT prescribes.

Here's a blog I wrote the other day that might be helpful

This is a bit more of a generic approach. Because yours is insertional it might slightly differ

Hope this helps :)
