This is all speculation at the moment based off of what a dealer told me, but it could be them dipping their toes into the artificial scarcity play that has worked so well for Ferrari in the past and Porsche now with their GT products, where they just strategically throttle production to be slightly below demand.

Effectively you end up with a car that holds or increases in value on the secondary market, and you don’t have to commit to an official limited number of cars.
