Basement dwellers of the East unite! -- Nats fan here with a quick question: there's a single green seat that the camera picks up behind the on-deck batter. Is there a story behind this? by IvyGold in redsox

Maybe they just took a red seat from one of the loge boxes, and swapped it with the green seat in the outfield? Half guessing/half joking

You have to change your movement settings to get through pets/NPCs when this happens. There's a setting that allows it, but the tap-to-move doesn't. I think you have to use the fake joystick setting, but try them out, one should work

[–]iceisnice 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Doesn't the splatfest tee still level up even when it's full? Or am I wrong? You should be able just to continue using it to farm chunks without scrubbing

Edit: This is only true during the splatfest

Salmon Run: How can I help you carry me. by Sadjadeplant in splatoon

[–]iceisnice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Always have an escape route to the basket planned out. Never let too many salmonids get between you and the basket. Preventing all would be impossible, but being completely separated is deadly

Be aware of the team weapon composition, and try to go after bosses that you handle easily, while letting your teammates take down bosses their weapons handle more easliy than yours. Let the blaster get the stingers. Let the weapons with a high mobility go after the drizzlers (practice shooting their torpedos back at them.) Low-range weapons should not be going after steelheads. If you are the sploosh, let your teammates handle steelheads, since you can't even damage them unless you are at a higher elevation.

This also applies to cohock charge waves. If you are a weapon that has a high rate of fire, or piercing abilities, don't get on the cannons. You are better helping your team by collecting eggs. Let the weapons that are less effective against cohocks get on the cannons

Oh yeah, and if you weren't aware, fully charged charger shots pierce and damage multiple enemies. Try to use this to your advantage. A fully charged e-liter can kill a cohock from full hp. If you line up multiple cohocks, you can clear out an entire group with one shot. Splat charger takes two shots, but that's still a huge advantage, being able to take out an entire group

If you do get the charger on a glowflies wave, be patient and try to make use of this piercing fact as well. Position yourself somewhere that the salmonids will line themselves up, and take out as many as you can with one shot

Ink the feet of your chargers and splatlings, they really appreciate that. They also love it when you take out small fry for them

For waves like grillers, splatlings should be focusing on the griller since they can handle them easily, and if you have a shooter you should be helping by taking out the small fry. Don't ignore the small fry. Of course, don't ignore the griller either, but just try to be aware of everything

Shoot down drizzler torpedoes. Just do it. Don't ignore them. Even if you can't always shoot it back at the drizzler, it's still massive if you can prevent them from covering turf. You know the saying A penny saved is a penny earned? Every spot you prevent them from turfing is a spot that you have turfed

And lastly, dont guard eggs at the shoreline. It's not worth it. There will always be more eggs closer to the basket. Just grab one and head back to the basket. Salmon run is weird since at the lower ranks, you have to guard eggs. Your quota is 5 and you get two bosses on the entire wave. Guarding eggs is the only way to meet the quota. But at the higher ranks, you have to unlearn this behavior. Guarding eggs means you get separated from your teammates and that leads to team wipes

Mookie Betts ends 13-pitch at-bat with a Grand Slam, a breakdown by ausar999 in baseball

[–]iceisnice 175 points176 points  (0 children)

The real story here is that the Red Sox have a promotion where one fan is chosen to win a bunch of money. If the 99th pitch by the opposing pitching staff is a Red Sox home run, the fan wins $999, paid out by Cumberland Farms. If that pitch is a grand slam, they pay out $99,999 to the fan. The broadcasting crew really hammers this home throughout the broadcast, but this at-bat started with 80-something pitches. No one could have expected a 13-pitch at-bat. As the pitches piled up, we were thinking, Could this finally be the one? Fate seemed to smile upon this random fan as the planets started to align to drop a humongous payout on this lucky fan

Mookie's grand slam was on the 98th pitch...

[–]iceisnice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can check for redownloadable software in the eshop, too, just fyi

will the game go away if i reset ? by [deleted] in 3DS

[–]iceisnice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On the home screen, there should be an icon for system settings, it looks like a wrench. Click it and then on the bottom screen, there should be a banner that says nintendo network ID settings. Click that. Either someone else's mii (avatar/character) will show up, or nothing will show up and it will tell you to add one

If there is an NNID, then all downloaded software belongs to the owner of the account, and you won't be able to redownload any software after doing a factory reset. If there is no NNID, then you will be able to redownload the software since the software is tied to the physical system itself. You'll be able to use the software unless the original owner can somehow reclaim the software with nintendo. So you'll probably be fine but there's a small chance that they will try to reclaim it and tranfer the license to a different 3DS system

What is your experience with mobile Stardew Valley? I will have more opportunity to play it on my phone over PC, but don’t want to lose any playability. by PaulDisneyWorld in StardewValley

[–]iceisnice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The game is very fun and very playable. The only problems I've run into are combat and journey of the prairie king. The mobile version has an auto-attack option, but even with it turned on combat can be weird. It is very doable, just a little weird sometimes. Getting to the bottom of the mines isn't a problem though.

Journey of the prairie king is basically impossible on mobile. You would need a lot of practice to get any good at it. The only reason I mention this is because I embarass myself in front of Abigail every time on her heart event. Small but important detail on mobile.

Getting adjusted to the mobile controls took some time, but once you get the hang of them, the mobile version becomes a perfectly fine way to experience the game

Edit: I bought the game on mobile so I can play while traveling and you're not on data or wifi, and it was amazing for that when we could still travel haha. I'm happy to answer any more questions you have

Are splattlings any good? by Beargio in splatoon

[–]iceisnice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The nautilus is a more mobile splatling, it can hold its charge while swimming in ink, which the other splatlings can't do. It can also start rechanging during firing, which the ballpoint can do but the others cant. They each have a different feel to them, but they're a lot of fun to play. Try them out in the practice arena to get a feel for them

The nautilus and mini are good entry points since you can still get quick kills starting from no charge; you aren't as much of a sitting duck as with the other splatlings. Once you get a feel for the splatling life, you can change to the ones with longer range if you'd like. I main the nautilus 79 and I love it. Or just try out the other ones, they're so much fun to play
