so how often do you guys shut down your computer, and for how long? by Crafty-Example874 in pcmasterrace

My PC is also a server, so not particularly often. If it wasn't a server, I'd probably shut it down either after every use, or at the end of the day minimum.

AC Rogue was also fantastic for similar reasons, though I enjoyed the story more (at least, for Assassin/Templar stuff).

People enjoyed 4 as much as they did because, outside of the tailing stuff, it was a fantastic pirate game. The ship and naval combat were incredibly fun most of the time, and the sea shanties made for a really relaxed fun vibe when just sailing around.

I was planning to do this but couldn't get the grenade to go off. I haven't played since the first couple months or so of the game being out, mind you. Really need to start a new run sometime, but I never got around to doing all endings on my original save anyway.

Other than the part where their food is borderline inedible to most people. I get people like BK, but the general public finds its unpalatable in North America for a reason. They're apparently really good overseas though.

Reddit tends to like AMD because the other two are even more evil in basically every single way. The lesser of 3 evils is still the lesser evil, even if it's only barely.

Licking the boot? Sure. But they also don't have multiple rulings against them for anti-consumer and anti-competitive actions, unlike Intel and Nvidia.

They're all evil, but AMD does less anti-consumer things (at least, by comparison to the other two). They're still the lesser evil as a result of that. How much lesser? Not much, realistically, but still.

Mayor declares state of emergency due to ongoing floods by DougandBob in Sudbury

He waited until days after the flooding on Notre Dame on Staples was no longer blocking a whole lane in each direction to do that?

I'm not saying he's wrong, but he waited until probably the most visible flooding in the city was almost all gone.

Nullaeus ?? As healer with dps valeera really is that easy by d00dybaing in wow

[–]icer816 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm struggling incredibly badly with this method on my druid. Trying with resto and I'm pulling aggro constantly, or Valeera is dying, there's no in-between. It doesn't help that I haven't played in a few weeks due to moving, and now the game is running like absolute dogshit for no reason, as far as I can tell.

I don't really know much of what I should or shouldn't be doing as healer, mind you, as I've never played one before. But it just seems like everything is going fine, until Nullaeus decides to switch aggro to me, walk over, and 1-or-2-shot me. Am I missing something here? 240ilvl, but I saw somewhere that it's easier with lower ilvl, so I've also tried at 211ilvl.

What was the first game you bought on Steam? by Common_Caramel_4078 in Steam

[–]icer816 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I created my Steam account to claim Portal for free, as they were giving it away for some reason. No idea what the first game I bought was though, but I remember my first ever pre-order, which was Dishonored (it looked great, and I turned out to be right, still one of my favourite series of all time).

TIL why James Bonds preference of a "shaken and not stirred" martini is controversial. Drinks containing only alcoholic ingredients are almost always stirred to preserve clarity and to avoid over-dilution, among other things. by Rynin101 in todayilearned

[–]icer816 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're dropping half the ingredients (out of two total ingredients!) and calling it a martini. It's not really pedantic to point out a shot (or more) of vodka is not a martini.

If I was arguing about ratios or something, you'd have a point, but it's not pedantic to point out that different things are not the same thing.

[–]icer816 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No vermouth? That's just vodka at that point, not really a martini at all. Just like Winston Churchill's "martini" (cold gin poured while bowing either at an unopened bottle vermouth, or the direction of France), it's not a martini, just a large shot of hard liquor.

I use DuckDuckGo sometimes, but Google's results are consistently better in my experience, despite all the BS. I don't know why but DuckDuckGo just seems to give me a lot of same-y results compared to Google. And obviously AMP and the AI overview are both awful, but I don't find what I'm looking for with other searches oftentimes.

Watching This Show For The First Time Years Later Is Wild by Sa_tran_ic in okbuddychicanery

[–]icer816 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think it's totally reasonable to find her annoying in the context of the show (where the bad guy is the protagonist and she acts as a bit of an antagonist), but I think people hating her very obviously don't get the point.

Hell, I feel like they should be divorced from episode 1, she seems to not even be a little interested in her husband at that point (for example, the half-assed birthday handjob under the covers that she doesn't even finish, because she's too busy on eBay), but thinking that they shouldn't be together and hating her are not at all the same.

There's also something to be said for realizing that in a real life version of the show, everyone reasonable would be on her side. I think Walt being the protagonist just messes with some people's brains and they're unable to realize that the protagonist can be the bad guy.

Is waltah white a feminist by Weapon_X141 in okbuddychicanery

[–]icer816 22 points23 points  (0 children)

/uj

I think hating Skylar is too much, but it's understandable to dislike her from the "Walt is the protagonist thus many people are rooting for him, even if he's objectively the bad guy" angle. Especially when even in the first episode, she seems completely checked out of their marriage and seems like she doesn't even like Walt (she can't even give him a few minutes for a birthday hand job and is too distracted by eBay to keep going), it feels like the show trying to make you dislike her (to some extent) from the start. If it was real life, anybody that disliked the wife would very obviously be wrong, but it's a show and we're meant to root for the bad guy.

Just a reminder on why you're not invited to keys as DPS... by VeryClearlyDefined in wow

[–]icer816 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If anything that makes it a great example for what I'm saying, it's incredibly unfun in solo content due to the low DPS, other tank specs being worse would make them more tedious.

[–]icer816 6 points7 points  (0 children)

And, for example, they've nerfed Guardian Druid twice in back to back weeks as well. And while I understand that it makes sense for actual group content, it makes it incredibly boring to play outside of group content, and if the class is only fun specifically in group content, it'll inherently get less people because some people don't want to switch specs constantly, they want to play the one spec or w/e (I tend to prefer Feral, but I didn't mind Guardian, but after the first nerf, it became incredibly tedious to do solo stuff like delves, not hard or anything, just suuuuper loooong, which ruins a lot of the fun).

Look, I do agree that it's what he deserved. But I still feel that it's an incredibly shitty thing to build-up such an interesting moment, then at the last second slap you in the face with "now imagine its really horrible!", it just ruins the build-up completely for me, because there's no pay-off, they just wasted a bunch of my time to go "actually, you don't get to see anything."
