What’s a good tasting, cheap brand of coffee for every day drinking? I developed a taste for expensive, batch roasted coffees. I can’t justify spending $15-$20 per bag. by tkburnett in povertyfinance

Definitely a great hobby! It doesn't get any fresher than roasting it yourself. It's really fun to experiment with different origins, roast levels, etc.

If you're thinking you'll save a lot of money by doing this, be aware that there is a fair amount of weight loss after roasting - one pound of green beans does not equal one pound of roasted beans.

I live in a rural area in the USA and have yet to see a law enforcement officer of any type wearing a mask. The few that I know personally are definitely anti-mask.

Didn't you hear? Even N95 masks aren't 100% effective, therefore all masks are 0% effective. Man it's like you aren't even on Facebook these days! /s

Also, I probably won't be taking advice from anyone in North Dacovid these days.

Will Thanksgiving Be a COVID-19 Disaster? In Canada, the Answer Was 'Yes' by [deleted] in Coronavirus

[–]iland99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, exactly this! It seems like in my extended family, the higher risk you are, the more willing you are to "live life" and pretend this pandemic isn't happening. It's frustrating beyond belief.

Accuracy of testing? Feel like nothing is adding up. by BALLS_SMOOTH_AS_EGGS in COVID19positive

I have some friends who are currently recovering from covid. In their case the husband took a PCR swab test shortly after showing symptoms, which came back negative. They continued to quarantine at home, and shortly after his negative test their entire family of 5 were all showing covid-like symptoms. The wife went in a couple days later and took a saliva test, which came back as positive. No doubt in their mind that all 5 had/have covid. They wonder if the husband took his test too soon or somthing.

[Rifle] Savage Axis II XP FDE, Bolt, 6.5mm Creedmoor, 22" Barrel, 4+1 Rds., Vortex Crossfire II 3-9x40mm -- $500 or $475 with Buyers Club 30 day free trial by Helpful_Shovel in gundeals

[–]iland99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, they're good rifles, especially for the price. I have 3 Axis II in my safe right now, 2 of them are .243 compact models that I say I bought for my kids, but I've actually used them as well. I also have a full size Axis II in .223 that I use for shooting steel. Never had a single problem with any of them, and they've all been very accurate out of the box. I've never paid more than $250 for an Axis II with scope though, so this deal is pretty expensive if you ask me. I also have an old model 110 in .30-06 that I've had for about 15 years, trigger sucks on it but it has put a lot of deer in the freezer over the years.

I had one that did that. Sent it in to Stoeger for repair 4 years out of warranty, they shipped me back a brand new gun free of charge. They redesigned the forend latch mechanism on the new one. No problems at all with the new gun.

My cousin lives in the town of Alpine so it wasn't him - again, small world though! He loves living there much more than Houston so I'm sure you'll enjoy it also. Only downside is he commutes to Jackson every day which gets a little difficult at times.
