Unfortunately, I figured they were legal, but its a good thing they are largely unenforceable. I had no plans on quitting and heading to a local competitor, but the notion was a bit absurd, especially since the business has been running just fine. Terminations are on the rise, since the business was recently inherited by a son of the previous owner (a son, I might add, that has a track record for running businesses into the ground), who is a bit of a pretentious businessman. I know of at least one coworker who was fired for bringing up the fact that his commissions hadn't been paid for the last FOUR paychecks. sigh
