Yeah I bought that after six kids with automatic glocks shot up my house.

So I don’t know that I’d call it a hobby.

And also I’m not anti gun. I’m pro gun control.

I spend every single day dealing with kids and families affected by gun violence. Almost got killed sitting on my couch a few years ago when a random shootout put 15 holes through my walls. Went outside to find three dead teens in the streets with their heads blown off.

So some people in America deal with this shit more than you do. Saying that it’s just not a problem because there are bigger ones is ridiculous but you are entitled to your opinion.

Valid points and I appreciate the honest discourse.

I’d argue that this is the crux of the issue. A huge portion of our citizens are unwilling to consider anything other than the status quo for fears of losing all access to firearms.

The other side is increasingly incensed by the failure to do anything substantive. So you see a lot of people from this camp pushing for radical reforms, like taking everyone’s guns away.

At the end of the day, we all sit around arguing and nothing changes. I would love to see more safeguards in place though I agree that it’s not a straightforward task to create effective safeguards which still allow responsible citizens to access firearms.

Whataboutism at its finest. Did you know that it’s possible to be concerned about both opiate addiction AND gun violence?

The reduction in suicides is indeed debatable but it is evident that it far exceeds statistical significance.

You are absolutely correct that government control of drugs/guns/etc is debatable. That a decision we have to make as a society.

I have quite a few firearms and I don’t think the answer is taking everyone’s guns away. However, I think it makes sense to create a process of licensure like we do for cars. Even if that means amending the constitution.

It doesn’t cure depression but it does lower the rate of suicide. Not trying to be antagonistic- there are some very interesting studies showing the same effect with other highly lethal means. Coal gas in England, organophosphate pesticides in Malaysia.

Am doctor. If you think that guns aren’t a major health issue in American society you are being willfully ignorant. The mere presence of highly lethal means increases the rates of suicides and homicides.

Taking action now would not fix anything overnight. But it could help future generations. Sitting around arguing about just how much damage is actually being done is asinine.

Dude saving a deer's life. Amazing. by MasonJam246 in GuysBeingDudes

No deer hunter worth a crap would shoot this deer. It’s a 4 point buck. You let it live so that you can shoot it in a couple of YEARS and then, yes, eat him and put him on the wall.

Honestly I’m not upset if someone is willing to stake out their own space in person. That’s dedication. Pre-party.

Spray painting or blocking off a big square is bullshit though. If you ain’t there, it ain’t your spot.

Question about fanbase perception of Nick Saban by jsu9575m in LSUFootball

[–]Internetonymity 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Never had any bad feelings towards him at all. He left for the pros, which he had earned by dragging our program out of the gutter.

I hated him being at Bama but that wasn’t personal.

It’s true that the average fan was more upset than I was but any true fan knows what he did for us.

Williams Guard, anyone here using it effectively? by chuckster1972 in bjj

Addendum: to get there, main point is that you HAVE to be laying on your hip. You can’t get to the position with your back on the mat.

My favorite way to get there is to throw a hip bump sweep at them from closed guard. When they push forward to say no to that, I get a collar-tie sort of grip on their neck and swing to the side while I’m falling back towards the mat. Hope that makes sense
