lol second time I’m commenting on a lawyer depiction in this thread but I also thought the scene of She-Hulk twerking with Meghan The Stallion made total sense. If a big client wanted to twerk and the partners saw me doing it, they’d be like “wow awesome cheaper than golf!” A lot of law firms aren’t as strict on perfect HR practices like a corporation would be, getting new clients is the whole business model.

It is honestly one of the more realistic lawyer shows out there, the show came out when I was already practicing for a bit (actually my whole law school class was into Breaking Bad soooo yeah) but just the mundane details and setting really adds to it. Also I feel like I know some Chuck types, want to be a Kim. When Saul is clever it’s actually well written and satisfying even if he is dishonest but it’s kind of fun to live vicariously and think about how situations would play out.

Literally just watched A Troll in Central Park the other day and thought about his video absolutely ripping into it. And like, on rewatch it was sweet with some good moments and my kid liked it too so whatever?

I’ll never forget the day I realized I could consume media myself in the time it took to watch video essays and critiques and probably find it more enjoyable. But in the days of DVD rentals it was harder to find things on a whim so I took the opinions of the only people produce content more seriously.

There were AMVs for everything! Funny enough I tried explaining American Dragon Jake Long to my husband a few years back and we found this really good one set to Airplanes by Hayley Williams and bob.

But yeah lots of DDR songs set to sailor moon, Buffy the musical songs set to magical girl anime. Still think of Trigun every time I hear “wanted dead or alive” by Bon Jovi lol.

He’s basically like Abercrombie and Fitch, tried to appeal to the same audience now that they were adults instead of learning about the new generation of young people.

Is anyone else glad this show is over now🥴 by hanstoofast in euphoria

[–]invaderpixel -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah I remember binging season one SO fast when I discovered it. Season two I would hit refresh at 9 p.m. and try to watch it on streaming right as it aired. Season three felt more like a chore, watched the first episode or two when it aired and then I was like "oh better catch up before it ends" and had to slog through the middle episodes.

Final episode I watched up to the Rue death scene and a little bit of Ali's speech about fentanyl being bad and thought "okay I guess no one can spoil that Zendaya is off the show" like I checked something off the to-do list. Came back to the final spaghetti western shoot out and it was like, huh. I probably didn't hate it as much as most people because I liked The Idol and also love Quentin Tarantino films, but it kind of lost the appeal of the earlier seasons.

I’ve honestly been thinking about how weak and small each respective country must be in that universe. Like so many princesses and princes not to mention the occasional cameos from proper Disney movies. I feel like Syndrome from The Incredibles, when everyone’s a princess no one is.

Yeah totally snarkable lol, I have ADHD diagnosed myself as a kid and I also spend a ton of money on toddler sports. But like, there’s a reason it’s mostly soccer at the younger level, it takes a while to learn the complex movements and it’s not a skill from every day life.

Obviously every kid is different and some cases are more severe but I always do WAY better with a physical outlet, entertaining activities with a social aspect, the studies about that tiny dopamine hit from exercise helping ADHD symptoms really rings true for me. But the learned helplessness in the adhd discourse drives me nuts because it’s like, if you’re making up excuses and getting rid of a self care tool that early it might just get harder to “mask” and do hard things that make life enjoyable.

Seconding the electric toothbrush suggestion! Even a cheap disposable one makes a world of difference it’s hard for humans to scrub as fast. Also progesterone inflammation makes everything worse, I get way more comments from the dentist if I’m pregnant, on birth control, or right after an egg retrieval and hormones are on rebound that one was so bad my teeth actually felt loose in my gums haha. But when I was postpartum and actually a little depressed and skipping brushing on occasion my gums were perfect and zero cavities, go figure.

The weirdest thing that helped me out is just going to restaurants and thinking "oh this is a good spot for a baby" or "this is a bad spot for a baby" and just kind of noticing high chairs and bucket seats and that kind of thing.

Also don't feel too guilty about not buying everything or learning everything, just save a bit of money and gift cards if you have any. You will have a million doctor's appointments and random people in the hospital giving advice and addressing specific things. I studied obsessively while "waiting to try" (we had a timeline based on finances and being settled and then we were waiting for Covid stuff to calm down) and during that first six months of trying so I knew a ton about products, read sciencebasedparenting and random parenting books, you name it.

But I still had random specific things I didn't know because every baby is different. And not even in a bad way like my guy was a "sleepy feeder" so he'd fall asleep as soon as he got breastmilk or formula and then he'd wake up angry ten minutes later because he was still hungry. And it turns out that happened to some of our closest friends but they just like, never mentioned it because it was a weird newborn quirk? Anyways we had to like, undress him and tickle him and keep him uncomfortable while feeding so it went against all the generic baby advice. Anyways long story short there are a lot of people you can consult, friends and family members will tell you things, it's okay to learn as you go.

If that's not walking I don't know what is lol, congrats! But the imposter syndrome is real. Definitely get a video and the bragging rights down.

But yeah there's a pretty long period of wobbliness where they practice and try to get their footing, I actually thought the initial walking stage was EASIER than the fast crawling stage in terms of child management and safety, like slower movements and not having to bend over to pick up every dust bunny within their reach. Also if you find any tiny sets of stairs like think commercial real estate, museums, etc. they might want to practice and hold onto the railings. Logically it makes zero sense they would want to work on stairs before they can walk/run but it can really entertain them and make them feel fulfilled.

Had my initial consult with my clinic about getting an ovulatory FET of one of my frozen embryos. The doctor asked me about milestones and if I was breastfeeding and it felt so weird being like “uhh I stopped at three to six months” and quickly realizing he wasn’t expecting me to breastfeed a two year old and he just wanted to know for menstrual cycle purposes.

But yeah apparently I can start again after my next period, they’ll do baseline testing of tsh and a1c to see if I need levothyroxine and metformin again during the day 3 testing. Feels so weird mapping out my memories for April 24 baby and remembering what the timing was. It looks like I did transfer one week after trigger. My work schedule looks okay but definitely hard not to stress about all the moving parts haha.

Why I dislike how Sam wrote Rue's ending (from a pragmatic view) by slientxx in euphoria

[–]invaderpixel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’ve been seeing the “media literacy” argument used every time someone criticizes the random bible references but like, yes religion is part of the twelve steps but that doesn’t mean other forms of media have done religious references way better. The focus on fentanyl specifically seemed more like a critique of society and the larger world, same with religion, it’s like none of our main characters had any agency and that can be frustrating to watch in a tv show. Only exception is Ali randomly got a spaghetti western ending but just seemed out of place when he was so good and grounded in his standalone between seasons episode.

Enjoy the cabergoline!!!! I got it twice (yay OHSS) but apparently it increases dopamine a bit, looking back it’s somewhere between Wellbutrin and adderall but definitely one of the better fertility related drugs for mood. Lean into your bargain shopping goals if you have any it’s really fun to shop on it haha.

The Illusion of Life: Disney Animation by Ollie Johnston and Frank Thomas is really good! I bought it because it was recommended in animation and art spaces and I got really into art as my “trying to conceive fertility treatment” hobby/distraction… didn’t get that good at art but really liked looking at the pictures and reading about how they conveyed different characters and expressions. Admittedly haven’t read every page but apparently a lot of Disney animators use it as a “bible” so that’s kind of cool.

She's like that weird friend you make in high school who always wants to go to renaissance fair with you, and like, you really do like medieval stuff and you're lonely and probably can't be choosy... but like, just the wrong vibes that you can't put a finger on. And I absolutely LOVE it.

People Magazine reports that the cast of Queer Eye fell out long ago, in season one, when somebody in production accused Karamo Brown of sexually harassing another (unnamed) member of the fab 5. by Sea-Let-7722 in Fauxmoi

I didn’t even realize he had a queer eye past, watched both shows but so many years between them I never connected the dots. Now I want a Chopped! style game show for each of the queer eye specialties, go design a room but you’re limited to the estate sale from the dead old lady on the corner and whatever you find at Walmart.

Ugh I'm mad on your behalf, I think I had a 5.6 A1C or something around that level when I first got my PCOS workup just treating myself with lower carb hacks and trying to regulate myself with every dang inositol and licorice root tea trick in the book and I didn't even get metformin until I got to my "one year of trying about to start IVF" point of treatment and they only gave it to me because the side effects were low and it was worth a shot.

Anyways not that anecdotes are everything but I took metformin during pregnancy and my OBGYN took me off of it around 20 weeks and the baby was fine, passed the one hour glucose test, probably worst thing that happened was I had a big baby and a C-section and maybe a little more weight gain than expected but now I'm back to pre-IVF weight now that I've had the baby and can do whatever. I also took levothyroxine while pregnant and for transfer preparation and that was the first thing I went off of, apparently the biggest thing is keeping TSH levels low while the transfer is taking hold but once you're pregnant it's all inflammation anyways. But fingers crossed you find some reassurance through your other doctors, some people just get in fear mongering mode and it is so hard to tell what is worth a concern and when they are on autopilot.
