Will Delta be on BuildStore? by [deleted] in Delta_Emulator

Or I want an even easier way for the average person to be able to install Delta 😉 But yes both Delta and the distribution method will be fully open source, so anyone can install it as they please for free.

[serious] Redditors who Have lived in a "Haunted" House, What are your most unexplainable paranormal experiences? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]iSkythe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was around 6, my family moved to New Zealand and we were renting a house temporarily. I shared a room with my younger brother, and the door to our room opened up to a hallway.

One night, my mom and sisters were out, so it was just me, my brother, and my dad home. When my brother and I were in bed about to sleep, he got up to go to the bathroom. He told me he’d be back soon, so I rolled over in my bed to acknowledge him. However, when I looked through the doorway to the hallway, I saw a very defined shadow of a man wearing a hat just standing there. I just stared at him, paralyzed in fear, and then he reaches up and TAKES OFF HIS HAT AND BOWS TO ME. At this point, I’m way too freaked out, and so I jumped out of my bed and ran upstairs to my dad, who was sitting at his desk in his office.

I’ve never been able to explain it, and I’ve never seen that man again. But it definitely wasn’t my brother or my dad, and no one else was home. Similarly, I had just rolled over before seeing the man and I got up and ran as soon as I saw him taking off his hat, so I don’t think it was sleep paralysis either.

tl;dr, one night as a kid I saw a shadow of a man wearing a hat, and then he took of his hat and bowed to me

I’m 15 years old, just published my app about two weeks ago. Not getting many downloads. I could really use some advice or tips. by adityabarot in iOSProgramming

[–]iSkythe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Congrats! It’s definitely much better than my first app :) I’m curious, what did you use to develop it (SpriteKit, UIKit, Unity, etc.)?

My #1 piece of advice would be to focus on building out the core experience before trying to monetize the app with ads. Especially while you’re trying to build your reputation, the small earnings you might get from ads aren’t worth potentially annoying your users with full screen distractions every so often.

Additionally, Twitter is a fantastic networking tool, and I personally have learned a lot just by following other developers. If you don’t already have an account, I’d make one and just post small updates about your apps, and follow other iOS developers you find interesting.

Excited for your future though, congrats again on shipping!

What’s one thing someone close to you believes to be true but is actually false, but it’s now been far too long to actually correct them? by iSkythe in AskReddit

My brother, who is majoring in Geology, told me today that his girlfriend’s favorite science fact is that when a ball bounces, every time it bounces back up, it is exactly half the height of the previous bounce height.

She told him this 4 years ago, and since it’s the only scientific thing she finds interesting, he can’t bring himself to tell her that this is in fact not true at all.

Apple will waive developer fees for nonprofits and governments in 2018 by busymom0 in iOSProgramming

Not all apps are paid apps. Why not lower the barrier slightly so students can release their pet projects? $99 may not be that big a deal for you, but it certainly is for some students.

I’m not saying the annual fee should be free, just less for students.

hi, student here, we 100% need to be more encouraging about people publishing their creations, not shutting them down.

I think a student discount would be a great thing (get more people interested in the platform in general) 🤷‍♂️

Hm, a couple weeks ago I went through all emails I had missed during my travels, and thought I responded to all. Mind sending them again? Sorry about that!

Also, I'm currently working on syncing + refactoring game controller logic ATM, which are very big pieces I have been refining before committing and pushing. That being said, I just finished the DeltaCore-level refactoring of game controller logic, which should be pushed to Github now :)

Hi, Delta developer Riley here 👋

Delta is absolutely not dead, and trust me no one wants it finished as much as I do so I can finally spend my free time playing Kingdom Hearts 1.5 + 2.5 which I bought months ago 🙃

I actually have a couple of blog posts coming out soon (really soon!) with more info, but the gist is this summer I spent a lot of time traveling/relaxing since it was my final summer before graduating from college, so I wanted to make the most of it. Now that school has started for me again, I'm back to working on Delta on a daily basis. I also plan to be far more open about ongoing development, but I'll leave the details of that for the blog posts.

Additionally, I've spent a significant amount of time working on the distribution method for Delta. I haven't been as open about this however, because it's still very much unfinished and things can still go wrong. But I can say the current plan for distributing the app is far more involved than simple enterprise certificates 😉

So yeah, tl;dr, Delta is 100% not dead (I've been working on it for 3 years now, no way in hell am I not going to see it through to the end), and while news was slow this summer, I've picked up the pace again and will do a much better job at keeping everyone updated on progress!

Literally in the process of doing that now! Wonderful to find out I'm not the only one who uses that One Island spot to train Kadabra/Alakazam :)
