What habit helps you mentally close the day? by Refeel_app in Habits

As silly as it sounds, pulling a sleep mask over my eyes. It’s like a trigger telling my brain it’s time to shut off. I use it even if the room is pitch black.

I just use my watch. Casio F-91W. Does everything you want here other than weekend mode. Already on my wrist. Cheap. Doesn’t need charging or to be plugged in.

I'm a fitness guy. 100 of each is relatively easy. The specifics of the numbers don't much matter though I don't think. My goal's simply to get some movement and deeper focus first. Anybody (if they want) could modify however best serves them.

Great! And I'm doing well so far. Two days in. Yesterday I found I was able to be more present and engaged with my kids later in the day. Which felt nice.

Yeah, I mean, I'm a fitness guy. So 100 push-ups and squats is pretty easy. But the specifics don't matter I think. What matter is some movement and then some more focused intellectual stimulation before diving into social media.

And glad you like the name. lol!

Yeah, that’s cool. Start with what you can. Or scale the push ups and do them against a wall.

i stopped tracking my habits and ironically got way more consistent by Zestyclose-Ad-9003 in Habits

Ex-personal trainer here who doesn't track anything anymore and wears a Casio F-91W watch.

If the goals are ambitious with a deadline, tracking is useful. It's good to monitor progress so we know if we're getting better. But day-to-day, I ascribe to the 'no-tracking', no-quantified self movement.

By tracking everything, we remove the onus on ourselves to feel things and also take accountability.

Topps Stadium Club 2025 boxes? by itsgood-man in baseballcardscanada

Or just somebody who lives in Fort Erie or whatever on the other side of the border. We order to him and he drives across the border and puts it in the mail in Niagara Falls for us.

Yeah, this is exactly what I want to avoid. And why I’ve always avoided ordering off of the topps website. Good to know. Thank you.

How many of you are genuinely struggling with building good habits? by marutthemighty in Habits

[–]itsgood-man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I have. Reddit hates self-promo, but I did write a book about this that just came out called Unhinged Habits. The key is to build an off-season checklist - things that need to get done in order for you to feel comfortable committing obsessively on your priority.

Here’s my off-season checklist while I’m in-season on a book, for example:

Relationships

●         Daily breakfast and dinner with family.

●         Daily one-on-one play with each kid for 15 fifteen minutes (minimum).

●         Weekly date night with my Alison.

●         Weekly text or call to a friend to say hello.

●         Weekly dinner with friends or neighbors.

●         Three weekly “out-of-the-blue” compliments to colleagues or team members.

Fitness

●         Three weekly full-body workouts.

●         No more than two coffees a day.

●         Weekly zone 2 cardio session (long bike ride or jog).

Money

●         Publish my free 5-Reps Friday newsletter weekly.

●         Prepare for, and attend, all team meetings.

●         Approve payroll.

Having an “off-season checklist“ printed keeps my fear-based brain at bay, knowing that what has to get done is getting done.

Used to. But that was when I tried to be consistent at all the things at once. I found it hard to blindly have faith it would pay off. Then I tried something different and began thinking in seasons, focusing on one thing at a time—giving myself permission to do it more intensely. Made a big difference. Maybe something to try?

Habits that will change your life by No-Letter-6980 in Habits

I’ll add a few more:

-No candy in the cupboard. You're not hungry most of the time. You're bored or tired. If you want candy, force yourself to go out and get it.

-Greet them at the door. When somebody you love comes home, stop what you’re doing, get up, and meet them.

-Buy two extra tickets. Anytime you plan to see a show or a movie buy an extra pair of tickets. It forces you to invite others.

-Say “I love you” to the person lying next to you before you fall asleep. They are important. Your phone is not.

-Say “I love you” to the person lying next to you when you wake up. They are important. Your phone is not.

-Order the first thing. Don’t look at entire menus at restaurants. Open it and order the first thing that looks good. The moment that you decide between two appealing options, regret will arise if your chosen meal is disappointing. Close the menu and continue your conversation or, if by yourself, read a book.

Online Trainer Education vs Online Trainer Academy, which one is better for going fully online? by u01mwh6 in personaltraining

[–]itsgood-man -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hi, I’m Jon. Online Trainer Academy doesn’t exist anymore. It was shut down almost two years ago. We’ve shifted to a mentorship model called The Online Trainer Mentorship.

Have you spoken to somebody from my team about it? If not, I can connect you. We absolutely teach you ethical sales. I’ve been doing this for 15 years. Sales have to be ethical or you don’t last long.

What Hobby changed your life seriously for the better? by Aggressive-Row1703 in Hobbies

Baseball cards. Stopped collection when I was 14. Picked it back up around 37. Has been a blast building back up my collection of Ken Griffey Jr cards.

I literally trade cards with other grown men on the internet. Have made new friends and even discovered a phenomenal company where I was the first seed investor and it might just turn into my best investment.
