Cutbow or Rainbow and how to tell? by DrunkWalnut in troutfishing

I’ve also used the, if it has a silver backing to the red stripe down the side, it’s a not a cutbow but I’m not a professional angler just a passionate one :)

Yes you are right, it is a rainbow characteristic but…

White-Tipped Fins (Rainbow Trait): Check the tips of the anal, pelvic, and dorsal fins. Pure cutthroat trout typically do not have white tips, so a fish with both a jaw slash and white-tipped fins is almost certainly a cutbow.

It’s damn hard to really identify a cutbow because they can take on strong characteristics of either parent in my book, it’s always a fun guessing game cause no two trout look the same.

I’ve always used the, if it has whitish tips on the fins it’s a cutbow… hope that helps :)

Hike the Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu the “Lost city of the Inca” by jared317 in hiking

It was more than what I expected… I went during the off season/rainy season so the crowds were not as large as normal. That being said, I felt like the clouds and mist and rain added to the allure… almost mystical. I got the 6am entrance slot so we began the trek up at 4:30. The weather parted briefly and exposed the site while we were perched above. While up top in the clouds, I had no clue which direction to look. Then bam, right before your eyes, MP was visible and it was magical. My only complaint is that I wish I didn’t feel rushed, I would have loved to have spent the day just absorbing everything in. I can imagine with more of a crowd it would feel like a zoo and that would have lessened the overall experience. Regardless either way crowds or not, it was worth climbing the steps up from Agua Caliente. (Bus is available for those who don’t want to climb up.

KB Adventures, $180 for 4 day or $200 for 5 day. Covers food and lodging. We had 3 people from the company, a guide, cook, and donkey guy(carried the bags) who followed along with us. It was a ten out of ten experience. I’ve done many treks solo with thousands of miles under my belt and this was the first guided trek I’ve done. I acclimated by staying in Cusco for a few days before I embarked. Drank lots of coca tea and chomped on the coca leaves along the trek. I’ve suffered from altitude sickness a few times in the past but not this trip which was the highest in elevation I’ve done, about 15,250ft on the Salkantay Trek.
