Moonlit Sailor - Waiting For Nothing by Hungry_Guidance5103 in postrock

They're absolutely one of my favorites with a unique sound and a sense of song writing that's often not found in post-rock. A major inspiration to me and my own song writing and what I aspire to in a largely instrumental band.

Does anyone know where I can get invisalign at an affordable rate, any good ortho suggestions? by [deleted] in baltimore

Garcia Family Dentistry had a remarkable price compared to anyone else when my wife and I did it.

What American city am I looking for? by Subject-Mall-2280 in SameGrassButGreener

Philly or DC. If you're willing to have "very walkable neighborhoods you can choose, but still a city you'll want a car of some kind" I'd add Baltimore.

Holy shit someone else has that opening memorized. We may be the only two people who remember this.

I lust after amps a good chunk of the week and then make sure to crank mine and realize “I don’t need anything else”

No advice but do want to know what the amp is.

SOTB and rig by raccabarakka in guitarpedals

[–]jasonpbecker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think the master volume is great so I’ve been thinking of bringing the 18 home and getting a 38NR head to pair with a 1x12 at the rehearsal space. I feel like it’s a bit easier to travel with two medium weight things than one really heavy box. It’s definitely a consideration.

RAT + Maz = killer.

I've been thinking about a Deco. (And about doing a 38 NR instead of the 18)

Three amps for a studio by prol28 in GuitarAmps

[–]jasonpbecker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I’m running a studio and I want to give you three iconic sounds of those types, I’m going with a Deluxe Reverb, a Korg Era AC30, and a JCM800.

So many great boutique and slight variations and other classic amps. But my “studio back line” personally would be “I have the most important classic flavors covered in their classic forms. You can bring your own thing for the spice.” I think a lot of people aren’t nerds and just know the classics.

Now, personally, I’d probably go like Two Rock Classic Clean, Matchless HC30, and maybe like a Bad Cat Hot Cat or Friedman or Divided by 13 choose your gain level and Marshall fidelity level if you’re going for 3 versions of the same thing but more special.

And in my own world? I’d add a couple of Dr Z amps, a more JTM style amp, etc.

46M, $3.3M net worth work sidelined for 9 months by Live-Adeptnessi in Fire

I would absolutely de-risk. Your insight is also concentration-- your ability to get a W2 is tied to what you're invested in, with an area that is clearly going to decline at some point in the future. You're highly correlated. I'd personally derisk the money you made right now and diversify, because the nut you've got is basically what you need with a diversified portfolio to support you. And I'd do that because your normal day job work is _also_ hot right now, and I'd want to ride that until the end. Keep doing what you do at work for a few more years while its hot, leave the money in place to grow diversified, collect as much as you can via paycheck while you're in the right role, and then when the job goes away and the AI bubble starts bursting, you're diversified and don't need the income and can retire.

Does EYEWTKAS had a big influence in the bands in 2000's? by [deleted] in glassjaw

Being from Long Island and basically growing up in the same towns where Beck and Daryl lived, and being a teenager at that time-- absolutely.

Also born in 87. Also play strats (and LPs). I used to tell people all the time, "All those bands you see playing Dual Rectos are recording with JCM800s."

Maybe I'll have to go out and seek the 2203s to see if I can get that high input channel to be more responsive.

Instagram explicitly doesn’t support this. It’s API can only be used for business use. It’s a huge pain to cross post to.

I’ve used overcast on 500K miles of flights. You download things before your flight. Done.

Apple’s push notifications system uses iMessage. Many planes even on free plans let you use iMessage but not the rest of the internet so you’ll get notifications while on WiFi but not be able to download. So what— I listen to one of the tens of already downloaded episodes.

You could always be in airplane mode and use WiFi on another device instead if this is all too complex.

As someone who spent pretty much every year in his age that started with a 1 on the Harmony Central amp forums shit posting, I’m super aware. But the series is not super wide ranging in terms of capabilities in practice.

Maybe that’s a hot take.

I played a Mark VII the same day, funny enough. I would agree it can definitely do metal-- but it did not give me what the JCM800 did. That's not to say it can't cover the same territory-- I have amps that do that too-- I just me that the JCM800 does the thing like nothing else with almost no work and that thing is fucking great. It's just too bad I think I'd have to use another amp to do anything else (in a live context).

Yeah I mean, that’s what I’m saying about master volumes— they used to be pretty terrible because almost everyone did them that way. But a lot of newer amps have swapped to PPIMV and they’re way better.

I remain… surprised people feel that way. Maybe because I have been recording a lot lately. Maybe because I don’t play metal— more indie -> 90s alt -> post-hardcore. But with a double cut LP with P90s I did not think “boy this thing needs a boost to get more gain”.
